Man that's a great Post, Dave. And it makes me kinda sad that we don't know when most of those Games come out. Cmon Sony, share some Rime News with us. And you too Suda, i need more Let it Die. And unless i haven't missed them on the List, that's not even all. Toukiden for example is also coming to Ps4. So many Games...

Thanks, I'm adding Toukiden.

I cross-checked with the list of all 2015 Playstation games from the PS blog (in this thread)

But it seems you were indeed worried as Rime was also not listed for 2015 :/
Still a ton, and when half of this year is over we will probably know about a few more (GT7? Beyond remaster? and of course all those suspicious studios in the OP that haven't put something out yet :D )

I am not sure we should list H1Z1, Planetscape 2 and Everquest Next, as console exclusives anymore...

Otherwise, I am still crying about the lack of Rime in that 2015 planning :-( I am so eager to play that, and preferably before The Last Guardian.

As much a I enjoyed Flower and Flow, I would much rather have had a new Kinetica From SSM to kick of the new generation. it seems I can't go 3 full days without hearing someone lament over the lack of stupidfunfuturacers and kickstarters in that very genre seem to be on the rise.
and here I am lementing over the lack of stupidfunfuturacers
They would have been ahead of the curve but no, instead they get the opportunity to port old games and reboot an exhausted franchise...

I hope Can'tos will at least be more interesting than Don'te.

pretty underwhelming what the ps4 exclusive games are delivering so far.

Welp atleast i got my Bloodborne next month

We all knew what we where getting into last year when we bought PS4's. Obviously we all know that Sony games start getting good after the 3rd year of the consoles life. Im waiting for them digital goodies like TTC and Wild though.

Tarsier Studios confirmed they are doing developing Tearaway Unfolded for the PS4. Btw, was it ever confirmed what new game Blue Point was remastering for the PS4?

Well i guess the problem is, Sony really wants to show off the console with impressive graphics mostly. Killzone, Infamous, Order. These games are no easy work. They all have high production values right? Maybe Sony must hire some good writers, who can support these awesome visuals.

I really enjoyed Infamous, the game was really good. Killzone's mutliplayer was good as well, maybe if the game had more time to bake in the oven.

It seems like Sony is all about wasted potential this gen, ND withstanding, probably.

ND, SSM and GG are still where Sony's monies go to, and they need to deliver. Ultimately everyone else is mid tier capable with a nice coat of paint because that's what they can afford to make.

I don't think good writers will really help much, the 3 games you've listed suffer from Gameplay and content issues mostly. Killzone I heard they fixed some things about it from launch, but Infamous wasn't lacking in the writing department, it just didn't have varied content, world felt a bit lifeless even though it looked great, and it just wasn't all that fun due to how repetitive it was. The Order seems to suffer from the same type of lack of content and gameplay variety. Yeah having better writing might help, but I don't think it's the games main underlying problem at all.

I think the real show stopper out of Sony's studios this gen will be Guerrilla. I've been following them for a while and I know there is so much talent there, but they haven't fully unleashed it, only glimpses of their full potential.

Now that they're off Killzone after a decade and getting to do a new thing, I think it's going to be fantastic. Rumor has their next thing as an open world RPG, there was the leaked art work with the robo-dinos and also the fact that there's a Fallout New Vegas writer on board. Can you imagine Guerrilla stomping in on Bethesda's turf?

Sony obviously sees the potential in Guerrilla, buying them up when they had proven little of their talents. I think people will look at them totally differently by the end of this gen the same way we have with Naughty Dog from PS2 to Ps3.

inFamous was fine gameplay wise, just a bit short.

I also wonder what Sucker Punch is going to be up to this gen. And where does Sony see them in the scheme of studios? Will the remain just the competent little studio that could, pumping out their next game whenever it's ready, or will they grow to multiple teams.

I would say the main content and story is great, but I feel that compared to especially Infamous 2, the side content and just other things to do in the city feels incredibly lacking. Like it feels in many ways like the game shouldn't have been open world at all because outside of the main story missions, there really isn't much outside of the spraypaint, protestor/drug dealers and the billboard missions, as well as the collectibles. Those things just don't tell me that the game would've worked as an open world. Like it felt as if the open worlds whole purpose in the game was just to have a place to enjoy using powerups and flying/speed dashing around, but outside of that the world felt really barren. It would have been amazing to have many varied side missions and things you can do from other denizens of the city. Maybe you could have helped out more conduits and such.

I don't know, I was a huge huge fan of Infamous 1 and 2, but Second Son just disappointed me throughout my whole first playthrough. I still need to do an Evil playthrough someday, but I doubt it's gonna change my mind on it much. That said I did finally try out first light the other day, and only about an hour in, but there are a few things I really like better about it. One of them being the challenges you can complete to get power ups instead of just collecting random things. Adds more interesting content to the game and gives you a chance to experiment around with the powers.

I'm pretty sure they had layoffs shortly after Second Son launched, so I doubt they'll be growing much anytime soon.

Well, let's just hope that was just a case of them trying to sell the console at launch. Now, with the PS4 well on it's way to end this generation as the market leader, they can focus more on a breadth of games that deliver amazing gameplay, and varied experiences.

This is what I'm really excited for. The next Infamous has me excited due to them already having the engine, they have more time that could be spent creating some truly fun content. The same could be said for RAD since it seems alot of time for The Order was spent on tech, hopefully their next game can have alot more content and gameplay variety with the tech already existing.

sony need to get their shit together, their studios just scream mismanagement. i dont know what shu was thinking green lighting driveclub or the order. makes no sense to have another story driven tps when u have nd doing the same thing or a racing game that should have been a gt spin off like turn 10 does with forza horizon.

Polyphony - why release gt on ps3 few month before ps4 launch? makes 0 sense
Evolution Studios - driveclub delay, releases and its still shit with no ps+ version in sight
sony japan - dont even know where to start
sony london - went from making gateway to some eye toy crap

i dont think guerilla has it in them to make a good game. gameplay is usually average at best and the level design is linear with basic encounters. they more interested in making the game look pretty than anything else. hopefully their new ip is good but im not holding my breath

Driveclub did well in Europe. Shu didn't green light the order. Simple.

Also, copying MS on game development should be the absolute last thing Sony should be doing. Tons of games coming out this year and its barely started, the concern trolling is getting old

I hope Sucker Punch is invested in. They may not need multiple teams, but their track record of quality games is impressive. Infamous is the best first party exclusive so far and it could have been much better if they allowed it to slip outside the launch window.

I think i remember hearing that much of the side missions were added in the day one patch. That signals to me that they just didn't have any time to focus on it, rather than them not being able to execute.

Uhm Killzone and Knack are both launch titles developed for a very specific reason, in my opinion, and (sadly) this has little to do with quality gaming. Killzone is a tech demo, it shows PS4 power and so it gives a reason to buy the system to a specific type of consumers (plus, it's a FPS with a good online named after a known franchise). inFamous is pretty much the same and it gives a reason to the fanbase (if there's any) to jump on PS4. Knack doesn't need a known name because it's developed for younger players.
Then we have Driveclub, a really outstanding racer despite the initial online problems, and MLB games that I personally don't know but seem very good. edit: oh and Singstar.. ehm.. well there's a market for this genre too.
Second party titles and third party exclusives have been great so far, like Resogun or Yakuza and yes, even The Order is good. Future looks very promising for all kind of players, too bad that Sony have this bad habit to have a shitty start (compared to what comes later).
Also, I'll never stop repeating how much I want Sucker Punc as far as possible from inFamous, can I dream for something new from them, just once?

To be honest, I thought Killzone 2 was incredible. One of the best games last gen. Can't wait to see what they're up to with their new IP.

Actually it was four days after the Ps4 Launch in Europe - 4th December :p

Evolution Studios - driveclub delay, releases and its still shit with no ps+ version in sight
I still think this is overall a rock solid game with a bright future

sony japan - dont even know where to start
They got a new President/Studio Director in 2013. Allan Becker from Sony Santa Monica who started restructuring the chaotic studio

I think Sony Japan could be one of the big winners this gen, they have several big budget projcets in work
1.Last Guardian
2.Gravity Rush (Ps4?)
3.Big Budget Japano RPG
4.New Mark Cerny Game?

sony london - went from making gateway to some eye toy crap
Indeed sad

got a source for dc doing well in europe? it flopped in uk and got discounted around a month or 2 after release + got bundled in with everything. it crashed and burned in npd and in uk so i doubt europe sales will be enough to turn things around anyway

im pretty sure i heard rad talking about purposing different ideas to shu and after showing him 2 concepts he greenlit order

sony dont have to copy every aspect of ms but it makes more sense for polyphony to create a spin off series than it does for evolution to heavily invest in new ip that flopped commercially and critically. its stupid to have 2 studios working on similar types of games especially when u already have an established powerhouse like gt

Normal for studios planning on creating a second development team? I understand layoffs after crunch time, but it seems like you see this kind of thing with MMOs than console games.

Yes. Downsizing after release and expanding afterwards to fill key positions ( in case they are thinking of two teams) is absolutely normal.

With the release of The Order, all of Sony's "first generation" (games announced at reveal event and E3 2013 prior to launch of the console) so-to-speak PS4 games have shipped. I thinks it's pretty safe to say we can survey the landscape and agree it's been disappointing so far:

- 1 generally considered good/great game in Infamous
- 3 generally considered decent/solid games in LBP3, Killzone, and Driveclub whose reception will vary greatly depending on who you talk to
- 2 poorly received games in Knack and The Order

Pretty underwhelming after the incredible farewell to the PS3.

With that being said, these games really were the first wave of Sony games for the new console (All of which were meant to ship within the first year of life-span). I think the next wave of big exclusives are going to be better having been in the works longer and coming from overall higher quality, more proven developers like From Software, Naughty Dog, Media Molecule, Polyphony, Santa Monica, etc.

Hopefully Bloodborne gets the ball rolling next month.

- 3 generally considered decent/solid games in LBP3, Killzone, and Driveclub whose reception will vary greatly depending on who you talk to
- 2 poorly received games in Knack and The Order

i dont think guerilla has it in them to make a good game. gameplay is usually average at best and the level design is linear with basic encounters. they more interested in making the game look pretty than anything else. hopefully their new ip is good but im not holding my breath

It's not guerrillas fault for what SF became.

1. The market's conditioning
2. SF had the shortest dev cycle of all their games
3. Having to work on brand new hardware with a time constraint shortest in the industry.

sony need to get their shit together, their studios just scream mismanagement. i dont know what shu was thinking green lighting driveclub or the order. makes no sense to have another story driven tps when u have nd doing the same thing or a racing game that should have been a gt spin off like turn 10 does with forza horizon.
You say Sony's mismanaged and then compare them to Microsoft? Come on. Microsoft and Sony are very different publishers. Microsoft put business above creative, which is what drove Bungie away, resulted in a lot of studios being closed down and has resulted in the current situation where they've really only got four franchises (Halo, Gears, Forza and Fable).

Sony are more creative orientated (probably because of their Sony Music origins), giving their studios a lot of freedom and letting them control their franchises. So even if Evolution wanted to, Polyphony probably wouldn't let them use the Gran Turismo name.

Besides, it's not like the Forza name has done that much for Horizon, it sells significantly less than the main installments and I'd bet Driveclub outsold the Xbone version of FH2 (if not both versions combined).

Polyphony - why release gt on ps3 few month before ps4 launch? makes 0 sense
A PS4 version would've taken another 2-3 years regardless, so releasing one last PS3 installment was the smart business move.

Evolution Studios - driveclub delay, releases and its still shit with no ps+ version in sight
Shit? Have you even played it?

sony japan - dont even know where to start
Then don't. They're still rebuilding. Puppeteer and Knack were just the start of that.

sony london - went from making gateway to some eye toy crap
That "Eyetoy crap" (which I assume includes Singstar) was far more successful than The Getaway series ever was. And honestly, The Getaway was a pretty mediocre series.

Killzone 2 and Liberation were great games, so no.

Anyway, I'm about 6 hours into The Order and I'm really enjoying it so far. I'm not at the end either, so that 5 and a half hour run must've really ran through the game. I can spot the flaws but I still wouldn't call it a bad game at all. Improve the pacing and stop taking control away from the player for no good reason (usually for a very short QTE or a pointless cutscene, like going down a ladder or talking to another character) and my biggest issues would be gone. The gunplay is great, the weapons are fun, the story is good so far and the graphics are obviously incredible.

I hope Sony don't ditch them like they did to Ninja Theory/LightBox/SuperBot/Eat Sleep Play because I'm sure a sequel would be a huge improvement on what was Ready at Dawn's first real AAA game. I still think they're a very promising studio and add to Sony's lineup.

I wish Yoshida would step down and give someone who has experience working on game development a shot at the top. Every game he has greenlit this gen has been underwhelming. He will probably be redeemed a bit with Bloodborne, having goofed big time with Demon's Souls last gen, but all he has done so far the present gen is shutter studios, cancel projects and preside over unremarkable games.

dont get why people are having a fit over some low rated games, most the games that have come out I have thoroughly enjoyed, reviews dont dictate what i pick up and so far I have been happy. HOWEVER for people who take reviews seriously etc ps3 had its finest moments in its last few years, the first 2 years on the ps3 were lack luster as well then they hit us in the jaw with great games/content . im sure ps4 will do the same, and when it comes to the order RAD now have the assets they need plus an engine and can focus on making a better sequel. (even though i think the order is a great game and got to much hate)

I'm still unsure about some of the SCE WW closings. Zippper Interactive, SCE Liverpool Studio, Big Big Studio, and Incog Inc. Those were quality studios!

Shame about Stig's SCE Santa Monica Studio IP being shut down. Something alongside God of War would have been interesting.

The present gen has only had 1 year.

Yoshida has been there since 2008 and has greenlighted some of the best games for PS3. The calling for Yoshida's retirement or whatever was ridiculous then when people thought he wasn't doing anything and ridiculous now too.

I disagree with lacklustre. The first couple of years of PS3 had some enjoyable well reviewed games put out by WWS and/or published by Sony. At a comparable stage in the PS3's life you already had Resistance (86), Motorstorm (84), R&C Tools of Destruction (89), Warhawk (84) and Uncharted DF (88). They just hadn't broken that 90+ barrier that 360 exclusives had.

Even Heavenly Sword, which had high expectations and disappointed, rated higher than almost every single PS4 exclusive released so far.
