So apparently chocolina-shit is NOT the only shop keeper:

The downtown area is located between the business district and northern station. Among the businessmen and window-shoppers, merchants can be found selling their unique products to passersby.

I'm getting so hyped by looking at those screens and reading the comments on the official american website T.T
2013 is saved for me!

yeah, there is official descriptions for all the images and that one is described a "trail" mission,

because everyone loved those in Assassin's Creed games, right? ...

I didn't think my optimism for this game could have ever reached a lower point until I saw this. Stop emulating every shitty thing the west does SE, FFS.

After September is more likely.

December it's my bet, afterall... they don't have anything planned for the end of the year so would make more sense to launch their best title in the best month.

The worst part of her design are those metal spiked in her arms, they don't make ANY sense as they are like lines of cloth going from theshoulders to her gloves glued to her skin, with metal spikes.

Ugh.

I'm thinking Late October/November for Japan because of next-gen/cross-gen titles will be more prominent also in case it isn't simultaneous. But yeah it is still possible.

Good lord. It really seems like all of the new action mechanics are limited to outside of the battles. Probably don't have enough time to make the game a full blown action RPG.
If they're done right, yeah. So hopefully it isn't like AC. I have faith it won't be though.
*spits drink laughing*
I wouldn't be surprised if the game was out in Japan before the end of next summer.
It's currently slated for this year, or at least it was. They would be crazy to release it so soon, should be Fall of next year at the least.

I really don't know what to think. I like that they're trying something really different in a lot of areas, but the trailer makes it look like a weird proof-of-concept prototype. I don't particularly care for Lightning as a character, and it's a bummer that this game will be focusing entirely on her.

I'm hopeful that the upward trend will continue from FFXIII-2 (which was pretty decent with some great characters), but these trailers have been a bit puzzling. I'm not ready to out-and-out shit all over the game, though.

Sadly this. I bet we'll see a repeat of XIII, December for Japan and February 2014 for everyone else. I really hope the NA version hits the same month as the Japanese one though. The further the gap, the bigger the chance I will pay $90 for an import copy. Unlike a lot of people, I love the 13 games...

It is confirmed for 2013 worldwide, I believe. I plan to buy all 3 region copies, anyway.

You mean next year (2013).

A stealth/follow that gang mission? Gah.

She's just following Chocolina to find out how she can go from one place on the map to the other at a much quicky pace than anyone else :P

I think her different outfits will be visible only during battles. Can't say I'm bothered by this if they all look ugly like that second outfit seen in the video. Probably the main one will be only always visible and where the most care went in crafting it.

The game does remind me of of VIII. I guess we can only wait and see for the next trailer, when it'll hopefully look better.

Her outfit is really starting to grow on me, I actually like it a lot now, EXCEPT I still find the cloth she has pinned to her hips kinda stupid... I mean what is WITH those giant pockets?

Well, this is a JRPG, so it kinda makes sense for the main character to have giant pockets, I guess...

Looks low budget, but I'm interested. Enjoyed FFXIII and FFXIII-2 (didn't complete it yet) so I'm sure I'll get some enjoyment out of this.

I think Lightning's a good character so I don't really mind that it's focused on her.

Oh shit, woke up to this... IT'S BEAUTIFUL T_T

Aww, expected lots of new stuff from that Japanese trailer :(

With the promo screens, you can really see how detailed her armor is. I can't wait to see the other 20 (?) costumes!

Holy crap, those new screens are SO much better than the trailer that was leaked!

Hype restored!

Pretty screenshots, I guess, but I just can't get that excited when it looks so choppy in motion and the battle systems looks like a step back from the first XIII.

Is this going to be like XIII-2, where I have to put the main character in an alternate/DLC costume just to be able to take her seriously as a character?

As someone who A) has been somewhat involved in the process of game development from start to finish and B) loves to compare early trailers of games to their final form, I've gotta say that this game is far from finished but they've got the most of the essential elements down.

I'd bet the team was forced to throw this out in an attempt to try and garner some early hype. They were probably relying on FFXIII vets being excited over hearing Lightning, seeing some fresh CGI and getting a glimpse of the new battle system. They also probably hoped no one would noticed that half-completed Luxerion environment...

Whoops!

Yeah can't wait to buy them from the PSN store.
Eh, there will probably be some costumes in the store but most of them will be available in the game.

Why did they cut half of her arm out on that wallpaper? If it's really their official one, then that's a job poor done...

No "Then it's just like the game" jokes, please. :P

Outside of Lightning's design, this is looking promising, can't understand the haters. The town could have a bit more people in it, but I guess that's something that could still change as the development progresses. Also, the city looks beautiful at night but in daytime it looks a bit drab. Still, I'm loving the architecture of the town, like the whole black & white motif and the buildings look like the kind of nice looking older buildings that some cities still have.

Given the people posting in this thread, I hope Square Enix charges $5/outfit or makes the process of attaining them for free in the game excruciatingly tedious (i.e. trail and assassinate 100 mysterious cloaked figures - who turn into a random enemy ripped from 2009's FFXIII when you attack them).

I also hope they produce a line of action figures for each of her unique outfits and release them as retailer-exclusive collectibles (different one per chain) for each $99 Limited Edition they produce.

I used to think Mass Effect fans were obsessively creepy, but there's been some ridiculous comments in this thread. But maybe people are just trying to combat the negativity by overcompensating with enthusiasm? I guess I'd understand why that would be done, but its still weird.
