LittleBigPlanet Official Thread: Live in your world, play in ours.

I don't care at all about the crown :P I'd rather get into the beta. But oh well, I think it could also be a bit messy because..


- My LBP copy is US
- My main PSNiD (and the only one I use) is Japanese
- I live in Japan

So I could see it being a bit of a mess because I could probably not get access to the beta on the US PSN Store via my iD (I obviously have a US ID too), so yeah..


Anyway, how cool is the beta? Also, I guess you need a friend on the beta too, to play, right? What if you got into the beta but none of your friends? It would be meaningless then?

EDIT - I think Neogaf should be part of the 'community sites' of LBP and give betas to the top 5 active users of the thread... :D :D... :( (yes, I'm in the top5.. that would be my only way to get into the beta, rofl)

You know what? I didn't even applied for it. It's like the least important feature for me in this game and I'm an underpaid QA guy everyday at the office. Just forget it for me to do some testing for free.

Also, popular creators from the LBP Community, Lucas Sparks (LittleBigDeadSpace) and David Dino (Azure Palace) took booth visitors through awesome user-generated LBP levels on the show floor and got to rub elbows with some familiar faces. If you haven’t played their levels yet, you are definitely missing out.

Anyway, I've been slowly working on refining my mecha mechanics.

From the original (furthest left) to the most recent attempt (top right), I've been able to make it so that the player can shoot left or right at will without auto-firing like my first Armorboy. I've also been able to work out an upgrade system and multiple damage without having to rely on outside mechanics separate from the actual mecha. This helps keep everything compact and makes it much easier to do multiple spawnings.

This relatively easy system also allows movement without having to hold R1 down to fly (unlike my original Armorboy), plus the size has decreased a lot. My stages can now be larger and less linear thanks to those key bullet points. Added with the positioning of the cockpit, controlling the mecha is much more intuitive as it really becomes an extension of using the jetpack.

I'm currently working on two levels that focus on these machines (one versus type level and a multi-stage metroid-esque journey). Hopefully I can get these out pretty soon as I've pretty much solidified the basic controls and systems of the machines.
 
still waiting to see if they can get me into the beta I was a day late so finger cross sound like they trying hard for me so that all i ask :)

some up with a idea for some odd gameplay i not see yet and close to being done with my new level

Is there someplace you can post levels here to be checked out? I'm going for my Create trophy and I need some feedback so I can improve my levels. They're not getting played enough, so I'm not getting enough hearts...

So, I need to improve them so word-of-mouth advertising increases...

Anywhere I can go on NeoGAF for that?
 
I would like to know more about this GOTY edition thing. But yeah.. I hope they don't include exclusive stuff on it because it would piss me off :@

I'll guess they include some of the DLC maybe? Like maybe the MGS pack and some of the stuff that can't be downloaded anymore?
 
They mentioned they were preparing for the 21st, I'd assume it's something to do with Fathers Day. I doubt Sony want to get LBP involved with any more religious stuff after the fiasco at LBPs launch :lol
 
Man.. so all my interest in this game pretty much faded shortly after the game's initial release for whatever reason. I absolutely LOVED the beta back in the day and poured hours into it. (I'm the guy who made the "No Surprises" level that I assume has fallen off the face of the planet) I sorta miss it now.. but I'm remembering all the things that turned me off to it. Mainly the absolutely awful online level browsing system. Has this been improved? Anything else to entice me to come back?

Yeah, the browsing has been definitely improved, you can search using different filters and whatnot. Kinda good I'd say.

I don’t know if it’s the same where you are, but over here in England, it’s been getting hotter and hotter recently (well, in between the torrential downpours and hail) and that can mean only one of several things – Global Warming has reached a horrible peak and Armageddon is close, the air conditioning is on the fritz, or it’s summer time again.

I’m inclined to think that the latter is true, it is June after all, and it is the summer solstice this weekend, when the tilt of the earth’s axis will mean the northern hemisphere is the closest to the sun that it will get all year, making it hotter! Yup, that’s how summer works folks.

In ancient times, Druids regarded the Sun to be at its maximum power at midday during the summer solstice, when the days are longest. They marked these events by gathering together in vast stone circles and performing mystical rituals, that probably involved chanting, and maybe even sacrifices, or stand up comedy… who knows? Not me that’s for sure.

To celebrate the Solstice, we gathered to perform the ancient ritual of costume creation, and put together this beardy druid fellow costume to give away to all our friends on the LittleBigPlanet. So this Thursday, 18th June, head on over to the PSN Store, and pick up your free Druid costume! Unless that is you are in North America, where he will be available the following week: just after Midsummer’s Day, on the 25th.

Remember that he’s a time limited costume, and will only be available to download for a week from the time he goes live, so don’t miss out!
 
Solstice costume delayed in Europe

In typical British summer fashion, the summer solstice has been rained off until next week. That’s right, I’m afraid to say, that the solstice costume due today has been delayed in Europe, and will now be coming out next Thursday, at the same time as the North American store.



Sorry about that folks. – We shed a little tear at the news, and then ate some chocolate to cheer up. We suggest you do the same.

Most PC GOTY editions are just the regular game and expansion bundled together. So it will probably be LBP and some of the DLC bundled together in one package.

I just bought this game from Amazon this past week, what are the essiential DLC pakcs that I should purchase? I take it the MGS one? And where do I go to download the Contra levels? Do I just search "Contra" in the game?

Search best way to find them is by typing @PSNNAME into the LBP search

I'd buy the MGS level pack WAY before I'd EVER buy the ICO pack.
 
Aww..how kind. MM sent me out badges even though they'd run out of sackboys and tshirts in the youtube channel giveaway.

Still hoping they make the sackboys available for sale sometime soon..
