Looking forward to emulators on PS4, could it run Dolphin emulator?

CPU issues aside, wouldn't it take a long time to even make a version of Dolphin to run on a console? And then even longer to get it in as good of a state as the PC iteration?

Someone want to vouch for who "CTurt" is and if he is known / trusted in the homebrew scene?

Having a quick look at his Twitter it seems he follows some interesting persons and knows code.
But let's be real, everyone out there can execute code on a ps4. Just turn it on ;-)

on PCs much beefier that the current consoles, Dolphin still isn't hitting 100% accuracy with its emulation. Even its NGC emulation, while extremely well done, isn't perfect. I just played through Pikmin 2 on it and it had its issues here and there.

so i imagine it would be a mess on these machines.

Yeah... would be hard.
Dolphin struggle on high end AMD CPU.
First of all, Dolphin isn't really multi threaded. It's limited to 2 cores. Dolphin is also CPU dependant and will prefere high IPC per cores.

Basically, not only Jaguar has a terrible IPC, it's also low clocked.
Although, keep in mind that Dolphin has made some great improvements and also have builds for smaller/weaker configurations.

So, it should work for some games, but don't expect full speed on bigger games.

I can't seen the PS4 getting hacked anytime soon, nevermind homebrew being compiled for it. IIRC PS3 still can't be hacked unless you have a lower version, and you lose some functionality for it.

PS4 opened up for homebrew would be heaven. Great 10 ft interface, proper media functionality, emulators, cheap hardware, shit I would buy a second PS4 for this the day a major flaw is found, no joke there.

The Samsung galaxy 8 runs the games excellently so unless its more powerful than the xbox/ps4 I'd say the consoles could handle it with relative ease.
You have to understand that it needs to be coded for the architecture - we've had Dolphin on mobile for years. You can't just straight port everything just because it's more powerful. Computers don't work that way.

You're wrong about that thing you said two years ago!

Edit: Sorry, necro argument threads always make me giggle. It's like the internet version of "well the jerk store called, and they're running out of you!"

Could be more powerful CPU wise. Dolphin is limited to 2 cpu cores. So if SGS8 is faster core per core clock per clock, it's enough. GPU isnt sollicited that much.

8 core ARMv8A @ 2.45GHz from what I can find. Shits all over PS4's Jaguar.

But its a mobile cpu so will instantly throttle down from that speed, not to mention they are not engineered with single thtead performance in mind even if the clock speed is higher than the Jaguar. Every time i see someone playing Dolphin on these newer phones the emulated cpu speed is set at 30% of its true speed to get things working.
