For anyone who is interested, here is a spoiler-free version of the absolutely incredible final boss music theme in Lost Odyssey. Spoiler-free--it just has the music.

I really love this.
Haha I knew it would be a rock theme, Uematsu.

is it wrong after my earlier bitching about loading times to want to play through this game just to hear it's soundtrack in proper context ? Listening to OST's is great but I'm of the mind that you really need to play the game through atleast once , it makes the music feel nostalgic in a way. Seriously from the little I've heard it sounds like Uemotsu's best game soundtrack in a good long while.

Just good news from MS that the French version of LO will have 3 voice tracks: French, English and Japanese. That's good news :)

First DLC for JP Lost Odyssey fans announced! Yay! This is just the first pack, so there's more to come.

Yup. Mistwalker is really good when it comes to Japan at least. The BD content was all free except for the Shuffle Dungeon too.

Awesome.

though after LO sales, i expected no DLC to be honest, glad to see them supporting it.

I know neither of you (Blim, duckroll) is going to respond to my post but...

...final impressions?:D
No final impressions from me since I'm more than likely going to stop playing even before the end of disc1. Game simply isn't playable enough if you don't understand at least a bit of the enemies descriptions and various items/magics/rings/accessories. You know something's wrong when it takes 7 turns to finish a random encounter.
One thing though that kills a bit of my enjoyment of the game is the level cap. Considering there are random encounters and no way to flee a fight (unless I missed it?) I'm getting more than annoyed that there is basically no reason for me to fight and lose time.
"What a waste of time" indeed.
I'll sure play it again when I get a version I understand, and I guess it will make the fights much shorter.

Awww. :D Well, I hope it's been fun for the most part.

Yeah, there is the command "Run away" (逃げる/にげる) - not sure if it's on the main menu or the sub menu as I hardly ever use it. Also there is a skill you can learn called "Escape" (とんずら) from one of the accessories, which is a definite run away (I guess it doesn't work on bosses though).

It's on the sub-menu. You have to hit left on the normal battle menu to get to Change Equipment/Change Formation/Run Away.

36K yen for a CD? Almost $40 for the CD? That's almost like re-buying the game!

I want it so bad though...

That would be 3.6K Yen and it's pretty standard for music CDs in Japan. In fact this is actually kind of cheap for a video game soundtrack.

I beat the game about 15 minutes ago thought the game was great. Really enjoyed it all the way through looking forward to playing it again when the usa version comes out. I would probably play through again, but I want the whole thing to still feel sorta fresh when the USA version comes.

Great ending I thought although some parts were rather unexpected :(

Man, I still haven't beaten the game. I'm 36+ hours in now, and I'm trying to do as much optional stuff as possible before the next step. I'm taking it kinda slow now. No spoilers please.

You really liking it so far?

How do you feel about the story at this point in the game?

I´m definitely buying the OST even if it may look a bit expensive. I think Blue dragon was similar price and lots of other japanese titles osts go around the same if they are not old enough.

Does it have a well closed ending or leaves it open for "improbable" sequels/titles in the same universe?

Well to answer that properly I would likely give something about the ending away and I don't want to hand out any spoilers so I'll just say it was a good ending.

In regards to whether it is left open for sequels in the same universe people will have to find that out for themselves :)
