So, I just started playing again after taking about a year or so off. Since there's no quest log or markers of any sort, I'm having a tough time remembering where to go next. I checked my trophy guide and the last one I got was for beating the
Celestial Emissary
. Any ideas on how to determine where to go next? I feel like I'm getting close to the end.
Beat the game for the first time yesterday, naturally since i always do my first runs blind i didn't get the true ending.
As for the final choice
I killed Gehrman and thus got the bad ending
, didn't expect the game to instantly drop me on the New Game Plus tho.
I like how even to i was lv 100 when i beat the game, the NG+ scales so even the first area is lethal again, but at the same time, it feels nice to be able to progress in a couple of hours to a point that originally took me several days.
Looking up guides to get the real ending, and man, some of this stuff is straight up impossible to know without a guide, also seems i might have missed 2 entire areas in the game.
Funnily enough i don't feel tired of the game at all.

last night. After a few attempts, it was pretty clear that my current tactic/build of "dodge well, Kirkhammer to punish/stagger" wasn't going to work: since
all three are
deadly, my weapon speed was just too slow, and I was the one being punished after every attack.
I gave in and summoned an NPC.
Henryk
drew most of the attention, while I just demolished the
fireball-shooting one
. He fell soon after, and KIRKHAMMER SMASH saw me through again!
I continue to be impressed by the run-up to each boss: the path leading to each encounter has been truly great at building the "shit has gone DOWN here" feeling. This might be the first Souls game I beat!

This is one of my favorite fights in the game. I love how all of them cover each other's weaknesses and have different fighting styles but also leave openings to be attacked.
EDIT: My b, accidentally spoiled a boss name. Removed it lol
I'm really thinking of doing a NG+ run after completing BB for the first time a few weeks back. If that's true... then the screams of "YYYYYEEEEEEAAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWW" are gonna haunt me more than they do now.

After I spent all that time spoiler-tagging to make it vague!
Yeah, I think it's an awesome fight. The darting around, leaping in to take a swing when an opening presents itself, trying to remember where the others were... tons of fun.
Def am ready to use that canon soon. Gotta level my strength up a bit more, like 3 more I think.
I'm watching the Game Makers Toolkit Zelda 1 analysis, and it's really nice perspective to have when thinking about how truly inspired by that game this and Dark Souls are. Bloodborne is a bit more of its own thing, but it still has that Zelda flavor to it. Exploring is so important in Bloodborne, and the world is so rich and worth exploring for reasons beyond gameplay.
Love this game!
To elaborate on "that Zelda flavor,'' I mean the fact that this game truly just drops you into the world and it's up to you to figure out what you must do in order to progress. That includes reading the game's rich lore and gaining and understanding for the world around you. It's so damn good, man. Almost has me depressed and feeling like Breath of the wild won't be able to stack up. We'll see!
Rock Throwing dudes aren't as hard as they seem, but it's total bullshit that the splash damage does pretty much the same damage as a direct impact. Really makes them a bother in the
Nightmare of Mensis
area.
Also, it seems like not, but the path through the poison swamp you're supposed to go through
After witnessing the miracle
actually has patches of safe land so you don't actually need to abuse antidotes.
Starting up my Stream again. Starting exactly where I left off. I have a much better connection now so I'm gunna try upload 540p (not 720 because I'd rather not max out the connection etc.)

I've always referred to the Souls series as Zelda for adults. At its core, you're exploring a hostile world, trying to uncover its secrets and make sense of it all.

Died 3 times yesterday night with the same boss, I think I know what to do, but doing it without dying is another thing. Still rocking saw cleaver with fire paper. Have somone tried using

Best way to avoid the snakes I've found is to just be really aggressive and keep the pressure on the last guy. Works really well if it's the projectile one, since he sucks at close-range.
today, after trying a couple of times last evening. Went in this time with patience. It's funny to see how everyone *swears* by their preferred tactic, be it
"ignore the spiders to attack her!"
or
"you have to kill the spiders or all is lost!"
The latter worked for me, dodging the projectiles while learning her moveset and tells, and taking out the
spiders
whenever possible. Once they were cleaned up... Me and Kirk Went to Work.
Of course, now I'm concerned that I'm underleveled (as far as I can see) for what's coming up next - I'm at about 65, I think. Yeep.

I've had trouble finding many weapons or armor that's much better than what I start with, tbh. I'm starting to think that was likely intentional. I remember that weapon and armor acquisition was actually quite frequent in Dark Souls, but here I feel like the focus is more on upgrading your gear as much as possible with new finds being rare. I only found one weapon I like to swap using with the cleaver, and I haven't had much reason to get rid of the hunters set of armor.

There is some armor sets you can buy with insight which will be better and different armor will have different stats that will help you fight different bosses, if that makes sense

For armor, specific resistances tend to make more of a difference than pure defense IIRC. For example, when you meet a boss that shits lightning, it pays to wear Henryk's stuff.
The DLC area has some really awesome weapons, but it's unfortunately balanced for late game difficulty, so it's painful trying to get the weapons early.
just finished the DLC,want to finish the chalice dungeon before i beat the game because i know i won't be able to finish them on NG+
there is 3 ending,right?
i am thinking to backup my save to USB and after each ending i restore the save so i get the other ending, will that work?

One of the best things about Bloodborne is that every single weapon is feasible to use from beginning to end, although it's not really a truly balanced situation since some weapons are clearly better to tackle game's hardest content than the other.
Saw Cleaver is great, but I really prefer Saw Spear over it, considering it has basically the same movesets and Saw Spear has 2 clear advantages over Cleaver: both its forms are strong against beasts (while only Cleaver's short form is strong against beasts) and Spear has thrusting attack which is strong against some of game's most annoying enemies while Cleaver will have difficulty against those (well, at least not without consumables like bolt paper...)
Tho, none of them hold a candle to the Threaded Cane >
oh,thanks for reminding me of the consumed item,so even if i consumed all 3,i wont be able to get the other two endings?
i only consumed 2 pieces,i have to beat a boss to get the 3rd one.
about the Chalice Dungeons,i only want the final eye rune,i don't care for the rest.

I recently started playing this for the first time as well, it's been fun reading some of the replies in this thread. This is my first Souls-game and I was extremely careful at first, uneasy, but after
Father Gascoigne
everything just clicked now I long for a good fight, seeking them out. That boss fight in particular is now one of my favorite gaming moments. When you "get" what this game is about, when death becomes progression instead of a setback, everything falls into place.
So far Ive taken care of:
Father Gascoigne, Cleric Beast, The Witch of Hemlock, Vicar Amelia, Bloodstarved Beast and Darkbeast Paarl.
I'm kinda unsure of where to go next though I've entered
the Nightmare area (wow, the visuals in that place) but Im thinking maybe Im getting ahead of myself? Its kind of rough, the two hunters at the start keep kickin' my ass.
Right now Im at level 43. Been putting my points evenly in the first four categories because someone said that was a good idea for the first playthrough.
I've seen Chalice Dungeons mentioned here, I don't really know what it is more than randomly generated dungeons thought they were completely optional? And I've been doing great so far without them.
Anyway this game is fucking great and I can't believe I waited so long. A while ago I avoided notoriously hard games, I was convinced I didn't play games to challenge myself. Not anymore.

You can get 4 of those in one playthrough, and 1 of them you can't miss. If you want to get all the ending trophies in one playthrough, just use the PS4's cloud save trick.
2nd question: The Beast Claw for all weapons trophy and defeat the last boss of the "mandatory" Chalice for another one.
One of the best games ever made, probably top 3 this generation.
Confession:
I summon for almost all bosses. I don't think they're fun at all. They just stress me out and I use way too many healing items. Combat with regular enemies / mini-bosses is super fun, and I love everything else about the game.
The DLC is brutal at all NG's including the first. The only reason this seemed easier in NG to people was when the DLC came out there were a lot of people with end game characters, who had gridning out great gems and were lvl 100-120 and so did way more damage than felt suitable for the first run.
For me I found most stuff easier in NG+ over NG. Once I hit NG++ it started getting harder again. One of my fav moments in any game ever is still beating ludwig solo in NG+++ at lvl 151 with frankly terrible gems (as i never grinded for them). It took me about 4 hours but when I did it felt glorious. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkIE8zSBbd0
Trying playing the DLC in NG as soon as its avaiable or even once you beat the final boss are about lvl 70 and have nothing but the basic gems you found on you journy there. Its all way way harder than anything in the base game.

I was doing pretty well, nearing the end, and had killed most bosses, but I left off at the Nightmare frontier, with Amygdala left undefeated (along with the final 2 or 3 bosses). Also, that part where the tower keeps giving you frenzy was really tough for me to get through - I can make it to the building, then I just get creamed. Though I have been able to find and run through all the area, even the more "hidden" ones.
So I put the game down for a while (big mistake), and when I got back to it, I was out of practice and did even worse. Ugh. Gonna need to grind, or something.
I tried the initial part of the DLC, which seems cool, but again, kept getting creamed.

The initial part is a shocking spike, but it's doable if you take your time and approach each of the Hunters differently according to their weapon. There's also a light at the end of the tunnel (so to speak) before Ludwig, since you can use a lamp and skip right over to the fight. Without assuming what devs were thinking, I believe it's placed because they want you to keep trying over and over and over until you win.
You can parry her grab attack. If you time it right and get the visceral attack animation while Frenzy triggers, you won't take any damage (you're invincible during that animation).
Having lower Insight will also increase your Frenzy resistance, and some runes/armors help with that, too.

The randomly generated dungeons are called "Root", the others are designed by From and are a little better but still repetitive. The good thing about chalices is that they have exclusives bosses, weapons, and attires. So you may want to check some.
You can try to complete Nightmare Frontier now but I suggest doing Forbidden Woods first.
