The high contrast/orange and blue look ruins the visual appeal of the film. But what else is new.

Great trailer otherwise.

That shot of the colourful flares in the sky as they're racing looks beautiful

Car crashes look real and brutal, bless dem stuntmen

Apparently miller said the whole thing is a giant chase movie, so the pacing should be breakneck

Best movie of the summer 2015

GREATNESS.

There's that weird edit after the motorcycle duel. Based on what was in the trailer they fight some more and then fall off the cliff, not crash into each other in the air and seemingly tumble off the cliff.

Exactly

Mission Impossible 2's finale is one of the best, practically shot action set pieces in the early 2000s and its all done under a PG-13 banner. Say what you will about the film, but its still some of John Woo's best American action work

John Woo sucks and everything he's ever done is trash.

Trash.

As for this trailer, it looks great. I hope the finished product is more Road Warrior, and less Thunderdome.

Hate the editing in the trailer. Can't really tell nothing from it either. Could be decent, could be sterile bullshit.

Anyway, The Road Warrior shits all over this stuff you guys are posting, and this thread is about the new movie from the director of The Road Warrior.

Why did you even bring up legend of action movies one of the best director ever immortal god of cinema John Woo by the way?

That looked pretty damn good. Loved the use of color. Looks like heavy post production. Someone decided the whole thing shouldn't look boring and brown, and that was a good decision. For a desert movie, it really pops.

There's a really crazy anarchic edge to the action, which is obviously perfect for the subject material.

It's weird how strongly you're reminded of all the games that have ripped off Mad Max and its post-apocalyptic desert wasteland setting.

is that woman the main character?

because the trailer makes it look like she's the main character

Hype Level Before the Trailer: ....meh/10

Hyper Level After: 10000000000/10!

Same. I'm old enough to have seen the original in theaters during its original run, and hated the sequels, so I was assuming this was going to be shit. Imagine my surprise, shit looks dope as fuck.

I completely forgot this is in 3D too. Post converted though because the 3D cameras built for filming in Broken Hill, Australia wouldn't hold up in the South African desert.

No IMAX release planned either. =/

Oh fair enough
I showed the trailer to my dad and he did comment on the fact it wouldnt be the same without Mel but said it looked good nonetheless. It being handled by the same person that did the originals certainly helps

I was just expecting more of a backlash like robocop, total recall etc all had

I think had Verhoeven been involved ( as in directing) any of those films they would have been met with more excitement. Not to mention neither movie seemed to capture the spirit of the originals while adding a new take on them. Mad Max from what i am seeing seems like it will do just that.

GREATNESS.

Everything in that movie pales in comparison to Hard Boiled. Woo's best work as far as action goes.

John Woo sucks and everything he's ever done is trash.

LOL. Thanks for the chuckle.

Now I'm back to seeing this in the theater. I fucking love 3D. Even post converts are getting better these days.

Wish it was hard R though.

Watched the first 30 seconds and liked what I saw. I could do without the Mad Max Batman voice, but the movie looks like it's going to be something truly special. Will boycott watching anymore material for the movie though until it comes out... god help me.

Apart from the dumbfounded and completely out of place bus full of models, this looks farkin amazing.

Day zero for me.

John Woo sucks and everything he's ever done is trash.

The most obvious candidate for NeoGAF shit posts ever. A Better Tomorrow, The Killer, Bullet in the Head and Hard Boiled are grade A action movies. Ther's a reason he's embraced by the Scorseses and Tarantinos of this world.

As for this, yeah, it looks great.

Can't get excited. Can only assume it will be ruined by aiming for PG-13.

So you can't do great action sequences with a gritty atmosphere in a PG-13 movie? Maybe it won't have the sickening amount of gore that you're looking for but that's never really made anything "better" to me.

"Cannot"? I dunno, but I sure as hell don't see it happening. You also can't swear or have nudity in a PG-13 flick. The latter probably isn't a big deal in a film like this, but the former definitely is. Hell, you can even get an R-rating for "thematic material" and other weird shit. We're going to see some seriously mild manner post apocalyptic psychopaths!
