Can't get excited. Can only assume it will be ruined by aiming for PG-13.

"Cannot"? I dunno, but I sure as hell don't see it happening. You also can't swear or have nudity in a PG-13 flick. The latter probably isn't a big deal in a film like this, but the former definitely is. Hell, you can even get an R-rating for "thematic material" and other weird shit. We're going to see some seriously mild manner post apocalyptic psychopaths!

Not true. You can swear in a PG-13 movie and even drop F-bombs, just not every 5 minutes. lol

Also nudity is allowed, see Titanic, it just can't be solely in a explicit sexual nature. Fury Road has nudity.

Shit, Bane's back

You mean not even 5 times in the entire film :\ I think the limit is one or two. A limitation the film would be better without.

Your example is almost 20 years old. Shows how strict they are about it.

The whole point of the benefit of allowing for an R-rating is not having to concern themselves about these limitations.

Worrying about the number of f-bombs a Mad Max movie can have seems weird.

They're not movies known for their talking. I wouldn't be surprised if there's like, 10 pages of dialog in the whole movie.

What matters is whether or not a lot of blood gets spilled. You can horrifically break as many bones as you want in as many car crashes as you want and you won't get an R. But blood spray from gunshots and stab wounds? That's something else.

If most of the violence in this movie is vehicular, it could get a PG-13 and maintain most of its punch.

God damnit, you don't know that you missed practical stunts until you see it in front of you. It looks so brutal

Miller finna give us a spectacle of setpieces

Isn't fuck only allowed once and you can't use it as an insult or some stupid shit.

Looks really good. Hardy is not Gibson though, not even close.

I wonder if Miller can top The Road Warrior, which is essentially the bar for chase movies.

Looks like he's damn sure fuckin trying.

"Okay, so what could I have done in Road Warrior to make that shit really hairy. I guess I could have had a tornado drop right on top of 'em. Lets try that."

Yeah Miller said in Hall H it's a very talky movie. The characters only speak when they need to, though I'm guessing Immortan Joe and Furiosa will be saying the most. At least they did in the extended trailer.

Max is broken. He wants nothing to do with anyone and his haunted by visions of his past life. Heck he only joins up with the War Rig for his own goals and survival.

Exactly

Case in point, the tank scene in Fast6. People are straight up getting murdered brutally by a tank all over that highway.... film is still PG13

That was a damn good trailer. If the movie is as good as that it could be better than the original movies if executed right. The Road Warriors will probably still be my fav of the bunch though.

Are they still planning to film that fifth film soon and release it soon after Fury Road? Or did they ditch the script for that?

Miller revealed yesterday that the screenplay was done for that and a "novelization, although in rough form" was done for the 6th movie.

Really? Funding issues? Did he originally have Mel in mind to reprise the role?
Yeah, back in the day. That didn't pan out for obvious reasons.

The film changed studio, and was delayed by the Iraq war making it complicated to shoot in Namibia, and then by unusually wet weather causing a lot of greenery to grow in Broken Hill, Australia, ruining the post-apocalpytic look.

For anyone interested on where FURY ROAD stands in post:
  • Some FX work still being done.
  • 3D conversion.
  • Tom Hardy will be doing ADR soon.
  • Junkie XL is in Sydney until October working on the score and with Miller on the sound mix.

Also it looks like Sideshow might be producing some collectibles.

It's a long story, with many start and stops. The gist of it is on Wikipedia, a lot of things kept delaying the film.

I'll have to check out the wiki page for more info. Thanks guys, that's really interesting stuff.

The fuck?!

Jesus christ Miller! You're a madman! How did you ever do kids' movies, you're clearly evil.

Haha Norris ended up breaking his legs for that stunt. He was a stunt supervisor on Fury Road.

I can't recall any incidents, amazingly, on Fury Road save for one.

The cameraman was inside one of the compartments that sits on the tanker of the War Rig and the scene called for the Rig to pass under a rock bridge wiping out the flags on top. The only problem was that the stunt driver who had rehearsed the stunt came down ill and his replacement came through under the bridge at the wrong spot and wiped out the whole compartment on the rig.

Luckily the cameraman was wearing a safety harness so he didn't go with the compartment and had only minor cuts and bruising and returned to the film a week or 2 later.

He better have a job for life after that shit, holy crap. I hope we're above cardboard boxes now :p

That crash sounds crazy, but even seeing just the trailer, there has to be such a high degree of difficulty to these things that I'm surprised they just had one.

Bay invented explosions and vehicular destruction of course.

Awesome BBQ, Awesome Pool!

This is great and all, but seriously, where is the most important character...

WE REMEMBER THE NIGHTRIDER!

Dog be in the movie...somewhere...

When they were in Broken Hill they spent an ungodly amount of time (years!) and money building all the cars and putting them through their paces to breaking point. Then they'd do over 3-4 times since they built multiple versions of each vehicle and meticulously planned the stunts and do them over and over with the best stunt team and people there is....this is like 3-4 years before cameras even began rolling.

Heck, Hardy's stunt double is now one of his best mates and is working with him right now in London filming the Kray twins pic "Legend".
