Testament to his ability as an artist :p

Oh snap, the FMA Artbook 3 is out in Japan. I hope they bring it over soon with a hardcover.

the best thing about OP's art is that Oda's seems to be really comfortable with his style.
What's an example of someone who's uncomfortable with their art style?

What does it mean to be uncomfortable with your art style anyway? Do you mean someone who goes "fuck I hate drawing this shit"?

Fairy Tail

The concept of Gray beating Ultear does not compute. Although his solution was pretty damn clever for Mashima, an author who normally gets around skill-gaps by just making FT mages "try harder."

no it means having to draw something but you're not sure how to go about drawing it so that it fits with your character design and overstyle but it might look awkward because you don't know how to draw it the way you want without it looking too much like the way you learned how to draw it(ie from a book).

I think the best example is when an art style isn't consistent. If it's always changing, or doesn't seem to be consistent throughout characters, then the artist probably isn't comfortable with what they're drawing.

Although, I imagine by the time you're 400 chapters into something you're bound to be comfortable. This is probably a problem with things that haven't been going on for more than 2 or 3 years. But I wouldn't truly know since I'm not an artist.

Edit: Or what the post above says

What is JJBA about and what makes it good?

Hi Stat Flow, I see you've posted interest in JJBA. It's a series in which you see growth with each series(it's now at 8). In short it's a series in which crazy stuff happens, nothing is black or white, characters are far from 1 dimensional, tons of musical references, & style left and right. Each series is also varied enough for you to pick a favorite. It's been around for many years. The benefit of this is that you can easily pick and chose. The biggest draw of JJBA for me to be my favorite manga (yep number 1) is that it always has me guessing. Thanks for the interest.

so...er....just like your face? :P

Man if you can tell all that from just looking at artwork you must be some kind of savant.

Although I can kind of see what you mean, Yankee-kun to Megane-Chan comes to mind.

A long action manga series revolving a protagonist called JoJo, each arc revolves around a different JoJo and usually a different villain, different settings/locale/time period and about characters with different super natural power.

The first 2 parts were pretty much a fist of the north star type of action manga though, especially interms of art style, while starting Part 3 the story introduced a power called "stand" which has different elements, so characters have different abilities. It's pretty good for the fact each arc is different, and the use of power were pretty unique, with pretty interesting characters.

It's pretty long but each parts are pretty self contained, while it has recurring themes, history and characters.

I'm late this week.

Naruto

Madara:Hax, hax everywhere!

At least finally things are moving again.

Bleach

Aizen 2.0 is so cool, I loved how Chad and Orihime became useless without even fighting, so much for that hard training, that's a new low.

One Piece

Nice to see the other crewmates showing their new skills also hilarious Brook panel.

Gantz

Even more crazy aliens?. I hope by the end of the manga this become an intergalactic war with both Kurono's kicking asses.

Kodomo no Jikan

Well, the teacher finally become a lolicon, nice.

Enjoy FMA's horrible art.

I don't really like FMA's art but horrible? from someone who thinks Kishi's art is good is quite a bad thing.

Unless we're talking about artists in 2-man mangakas, or the Shingeki no Kyojin guy (because with that guy you can just magically add 10 years of experience to anything he does), I doubt any mangaka is comfortable with his art unless he was drawing for a while in serialization.

It just sounds like something that'll take a lot of smoothing and tweaking.
Again SnK excluded. That guy is just crazy.

Orihime was on the right track with her more enhanced Santen kesshun too. Ultimately I wonder if everything Ichigo and Ginjou are seeing are just an elaborate illusion. Though if everyone is truly deluded, I guess its a perfect entry point for Soul Society intervention.

It has more appealing characters than One Piece, better battles than Naruto and a cleaner art style than Bleach. It mixes the hard boiled attitude of Fist of the North Star with Death Note's deception and the early chapters of Yu Gi Oh's arbitrary games. It has 8 main characters and has been the second longest running manga with over 100 volumes across two demographics and no sign of stopping. It also has the best fashion design of any manga. Period.

It's the story of a time-warping, laser eye-having, freeze-touching, universe-resetting, football-playing bisexual British aristocrat of a vampire wearing his adoptive brother's body that can turn into a plant baby that can turn into a horse made of clocks that can turn into a velociraptor. It's the story of a family line hell bent on stopping him. And looking fucking fabulous doing it.

Should I seriously not read part 2 until after I've read everything else? >_>

?

If anything, those two are the ones that are the wildcards so far. We know they were hit by Aizen 3 but we don't know if they've been effected like Ichigo's other friends, they weren't there. And when he called Orihime, it seemed like she wasn't as convinced that he was her friend as the others.

Yeah, I'd say that those two + Ishida aren't fully under the Facebook Fullbring power just yet, which is something at least.

JoJo is definitely not cleaner than Bleach. At least not the first part anyway, which had a ridiculous amount of actual shading.

Also the scans available for it kind of suck :(

Someday I will have to read one of those mangas you like so much to pimp here...

.....

someday.

I wonder why Orihime didn't reverted her "state" to before being stabbed, she supposedly can do that, isn't it?. She has the potential to be the ultimate hax character in manga....probably never will.

Also it will suck if all this is just an illusion, Aizen 2 power is quite interesting to be just part of an illusion, my theory is that Rukia will come and save the day.

Best Dio description ever. You also forgot sexy horse jockey.

I was mostly joking but there's a noticeable drop in main character's quality from part 2 to 3.

Plus after part 1 and 2, the appearance of the main character of part 2 in 3 doesn't make a lick of sense, you'll see for yourself though.

Berserk 322 is out.

Those last two spreads are great.

The Sea God is massive, and those eyes covering the heart are creepy. I do wonder if Guts will be able to kill it himself though, or if the Merrows will return to help somehow.

Are you sure? Weve had extensive focus on characters not named SasukeNaruto.
Gaara Arc: Guy sensei and his team all took part
Naruto Training Arc: Shikamaru Asuma Squad and Akatsuki
Pain: Other Leaf Ninja Jump In
Kage Summit: Guy Sensei again, Gaara and crew, all relevant Leaf Ninja
1000-sharks.jpg

Other characters have been involved and developed (Guy especially), I think we arent giving them their just desserts.

Having them show up does not mean that they were developed as they were in Part 1. Not even close.

Sure, if by "good" fashion you mean garish and hideously out of style

Form fitting checkerboard sweater, rider hat with DIO on the cover, hoodies with the stars and stripes, dress suits with lady bug broaches, and dress shirts with wacky symbols? Yeah ....hideous I say. I love the fashion.

Grimace is just jelly he isn't manly enough for heart tiaras.

Just read all 13 volumes of Liar game. Great stuff. I hope the mangaka goes back to it soon. According to manga updates he is working on some about a fake psychic, but it isn't particularly good or as popular as liar game so I wonder why he is even wasting his time with it.

The mark of a pauper. You mock high society, but no one can blame you for your ignorance. Perhaps one day you can appreciate true art, if you find the means.

Oh man that must have felt great.

Anyway good to hear he's at least working on something. I don't know it seems scarier if he just suddenly stopped for almost a year.

The fashion in Jojo doesn't bother me. When you're a time-stopping vampire who can shoot laser beams out of your eyes, you can pretty much wear whatever you want. It's the crazy poses that put me off. Sometimes, characters don't even look like they should be able to stand.

But I love the poses! They're so crazy and silly!

This reminds me why Medaka Box feels so much like Jojo Lite. Where the fuck are the scanlations for that? Apparently the newest chapters are really damn good.

It would seem that the hiatus ended earlier this month, but I don't know when the new chapters will be available.

Even the most outlandish, attention seeking transvestite would find the "fashion" from JJBA over the top and garish.

Yeah it's an excellent manga to marathon through. It's going to be painful to actually have to wait for new chapters.

The characters from Jojo have walked right off of Italy's most glamorous runways, and into my heart.

Fairy Tail 196

"everything will turn to shit, but that's okay, because you, my dear friend, will kill me in front of their eyes, tell them it was my idea and be the new king."
"can't do that, but you could kill me and tell them I betrayed them, so you can be the new king!
"sorry, can't kill you either"
"what now?"
"I have no idea ..."
"what a shitty plan that was ..."

I can't tell if God's Beard is joking when it comes to JJBA or not.

Still, I'm like 35 pages into it or something. Still deciding whether or not I'll go through with reading the whole thing. It would take a while.

This dude kicked the shit out of that dog...like a boss? Or like a fucking asshole? I don't really know which yet.

If you're serious about deciding whether you want to read it or not, read at least until the end of part 2. The first two parts are shorter than the other parts, and whatever you decide after reading both of them will be a well made decision.

By the way he's serious.
