Ah, so will we be getting Bakuman a lot earlier now, as well? If so, that's freaking awesome. I'l read that later.

Reborn

Holy shit, Damon Spade continues to be a master hax troll, doing shit that seems a bit ridiculous. I'm not hyped about a Tsuna Enma team up. Bring on Byakuran.

C
+Hibari action
+Damon Spade trolling
-Damon Spade Trolling
-Enma, to me, is annoying, so the end of this chapter leading into the next one I don't care for.

Oh yeah, and my rankings for this week's readings, I forgot I would actually do them with my thoughts on the chapter, so I'll just leave these:

Beelzebub: A-
+Awesomeness, nuff said.
+Furuichi and an awesome attack
+Good humor
-Battle got resolved/dead'd a bit too quickly for me.

Bleach: B
+Orihime awesomeness.
+Nakama action, Ichigo not being a dumbass, and the training continuing, all in a speedy fashion (+ the "FF" thing at the end)
-Confusion with the random flashback from Chad
-No reveal of Shinigami, cliffhanger/mystery continues. I didn't expect a reveal, but it's still annoying.

Naruto: C-
+We might...might be able to look forward to the next chapter thanks to the end
+A bit of the strategy is making sense for once.
-Sakura
-Fake Neji and all things involving it are dumb
-Not much in terms of plot actually happened

One Piece: DNR
Taking a break from OP since the flashback started since I didn't care much for that, will either pick up soon or wait until the flashback is over and read it all at once.

MS doesnt do Soul Eater anymore, they stopped months ago.

:0 I had no idea. Have I really not read multiple chapters? Man, I can't stand once a month format. It's too easy to forget about a series and what's happening in it. Thanks for the heads up and thanks to Ignus for a link to read it. If you post when a new chapter comes up, I'll head to your site to read it each month. Looks like your buddy's site that has Reborn is blocked from here so I won't be going there. Fortunately, MS has the new chapter up now.

Bakuman

Good chapter, glad to see them regain inspiration rather than just fading away.
Its yet another boring 4 episode sub-plot, imo. All they did was climb back to the status quo.

Awww. Please don't rank individual chapters.

By the way I think I'm done with Silver Spoon. It's not bad or anything, it just completely lost me due to the theme.

I'll have to check out Vinland Saga later and see what's up with that one.

I'm just curious, what's so bad about the plot not progressing?

I think a series can be enjoyable just the same whether the plot progressed towards the end goal or not. If you did not enjoy it, maybe the problem was with the sub-plot itself, and not the fact it was zero-sum.

What's wrong with ranking individual chapters?

And what was Silver Spoon about? I heard about it a few weeks ago but never actually checked it out.

I can't remember who, but some Manga thread old-schooler used to do that.

Silver Spoon is a slice-of-life series about going to a farming school.

Because it's not interesting enough to sustain itself on the status-quo.

Yeah, I don't know what they will do. If they beat him, this whole thing will feel meaningless, but I can't see a way they are going to get out of this situation and put the fight off without abandoning the bulk of the cast. Damon is though full on hax. "Yep, I can use all your powers, for only a vaguely hinted reason!"

I think the fact there is anther Arcobaleno pacifier with presumablyno element will likely tie into the reason how he did this though, maybe also how to kill him.

Ignus, it looks like you're missing a bunch of chapters of Soul Eater? from seventy something to 83? Looks like I left off before chapter 84 but I have no idea where :( It was probabably on a chapter or two before that. Does anyone know another good site for Soul Eater?

@ Stat: You were confused about Chad's flashback? or just thought the timing was random? In case you weren't sure what was going on, it was just showing when Chad was attacked by Aizen 3 (which we had never seen) and noted that Aizen 3 was too powerful and his true ability unknown so Chad decided to start training before facing him again.

Reborn

Don't really like that Spade can use the vongola weapons, they are supposed to be unique to the tenth gen and I'd rather see Spade's own abilities. Curious how this is going to pan out. I don't see Spade losing this early and easily but he's trapped most of the vongola so I also can't see him running off without them being released. I'd say maybe release them as part of faking his death, but he's already just done that trick. It's a good thing since usually what's about to happen is extremely predictable. Tsuna and Enma team up should be cool but I think Spade is too strong for them *shrug*.

Heh, I rate the chapters for fun, and for when/ if I ever I look back on old post I can see what I thought of something at the time quickly. My post was overly long/page lengthening because I compiled them all into one post since I forgot to actually start adding them to my thoughts. I want to just add a ranking to the end of my thoughts when I give thoughts on a chapter in the future, not like how I just did it.

Hmm, confused is probably the wrong word. Or rather, I wasn't confused about what actually happened, but more like "Wait, what?" and did a double take when Chad suddenly revealed that he had also been attacked by Tsukishima.

It just seemed like a mis-timed reveal of the fact that he had also been attacked. I mean, it should be a big deal, but the fact that it was kind of just hushed off into a flashback during times where other important things are going on put me off a bit.

But then again, Chad was reflecting on the fact that "It was like no one even noticed"...so maybe that's what Kubo was trying to portray there. It didn't bother me too much, though.

Lolololol hyperbolic time chamber.

Inoue actually doing something was a surprise though. Bets on how fast she and Chad become useless are open!

I told you, we now have early access to everything in Jump, so all our Jump series will be bumped up by at least two days. Magico is coming soon.

Toriko seems to be out faster than usual, wonder if it's in response to someone else getting the scans early. A very welcomed surprise and hope it continues.
Hi Wa Mata Noburu is the group that secured the new Toriko raws. They did beat Mangastream by putting Toriko out yesterday. They will probably continue to do so from now on.

We deliberately omitted all the chapters scanned by Mangastream out of common courtesy because they don't allow rehosting. If you really want to read those go to a site like Mangashare or Mangareader.

Beelzebub

Hilarious ass fight, I was dying at the panels with Team Beel's reactions to Oga-bub's attempted stripping. I also love the sequence leading to the end with everyone finding out that they were literally right next to each other. Finally, Furuichi is always and forever SOL. :lol

Yeah, I can agree with the way it was rushed in. I give it some lee-way since Aizen 3 is sneaking around and we don't know what the hell his ability does yet. How funny a troll would it be if it was some kind of suspended damage attack and whenever he likes, he can just release it and the main guys are instantly brutally sliced just when they thought they had the upper hand (no way this will happen but was funny to think about).

BTW, why do you hate Enma so much again? I know you disliked the Shimon thing, but why Enma specifically?

Well they've both already been "tagged" by the bad guy, so probably the moment shit's about to go down is when it'll happen.

Luu is fantastic. I'm enjoying every second of her. Her "I don't know common anything" is old and tired, but I really don't mind it at all, not nearly as much as I expected. Seeing her all excited and giddy is making me all excited and giddy.

The city is also great. The grandpa in a vase carried by his apprentice (if we forget the pervert shit) is also a really badass concept. Like, I'd expect that kind of character concept from something like One Piece. This new series is my favorite since the Medaka wave.

Dunno about the magic system, though. I think it took back a bit from what was so great about the ritual system. Unless I misunderstood something, mages are BORN into those classes and rankings? If so, then that is.. pretty annoying.

I dropped it awhile back. Just revealed more to me that that type of plot and a lack of action just isnt that compelling to me...think I will pick up Air Gear or that Negima series, since both have interesting art designs.

Blood Lad

So much time passed since the last one, I had to reread it. But I'm really liking where this is going. It hits a lot buttons right for me right now. I already want it to get past all the appetizers and get to the beef.

Oh I'm fine with no action, completely, that wasn't the problem for me at all. But I guess I can understand it knowing you.

You won't like Air Gear when you reach that point, so why even bother.

Ok... Bleach question

Dude in the cool jacket said & I quote fullbring powers don't evolve or grow. So how the in the blue blazes is this training helping Ichigo? I'm under the assumption that knowledge as in battle experience is making the user more "aware". Thus they are able to do much more than before. Case in point Ichigo going from sword to battle armor of sorts. I'd like some theories or others thoughts into this. I thought the chapter was really cool. The kid must have some wicked ram to run two games.

It was already explained when Chad asked the same question: they don't "evolve" into new powers, its just that you aren't necessarily using them to their full potential; i.e., Chad can probably go full-body, but he spent most of the series with just a beam-shooting arm (he currently has two beam shooting arms).

It amounts to the same thing though.

It's definitely a battle manga.

Cool, it's too early in but I'll have to keep an eye on your guys' impressions over time and then marathon it if it sounds good. I was thinking about picking up this one battle shonen DTL mentioned to me before that begins with an 'N'. It's all in Japanese so it's hard for me to remember but I think it's popular so shouldn't be hard for me to find. It's not Negima, was three words I think.

Ha, I'll make sure to avoid them. It will have to be a site I can reach from work. Have you read it? Any good?

Bakuman 133:

I have to agree with Angry Grimace here. The chapter was good but they completely gave up on any story progress by having everything go "back to normal" and the only thing relevant to the plot that happened is Eiji getting first place.

upandaway said:

I think a series can be enjoyable just the same whether the plot progressed towards the end goal or not. If you did not enjoy it, maybe the problem was with the sub-plot itself, and not the fact it was zero-sum.

Status quo would be fine if we were dealing with a manga like Sket Dance, Gintama, or even Beelzebub in some cases, where the focus is more on crazy antics and the actual plot doesn't matter. But Bakuman is a story that is about how the authors progress/grow as manga creators and that's the main thing interesting about it outside of Eiji and Hiramaru.

It's the same issue with Hajime No Ippo but on a lesser scale. The author refuses to have the main characters progress so they stall the story with "filler" for as long as possible. But there's no way I'm reading Bakuman up to 400 chapters and they haven't gotten an anime yet, let alone 936 chapters.

I think that was me but I never did letter grades or scales vs just putting the mangas in order from best to worst.

It's pretty good, the last arc with Kitsune was real good. The quality has stumbled with the current arc though, although the flashback is not shabby.

The whole list is populated by chick shit; Kuroshitsuji is actually a shonen, but its pretty clearly aimed to appeal to girls, as is Rosario + vampire, hence why they sell so well.
