Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle review thread

IGN just doesn't like giving Nintendo 3rd party games a good score.

Seems like they have been giving out lower scored in general compared to their peers lately. Every review thread i visit has IGN with the lowest scores compared to other outlets. Maybe im imagine thing but their reviews seem extra harsh unless its a GotY candidate lol.

I'm glad the reviews are positive I have been looking forward this game. I have turned my Switch on one time in the last four months I am glad I finally have something to play on it.

What a wonderful outcome this is. Remember thinking there's no way this turns out to be anything other than awful when I heard about a Rabbids x Mario game.

Was sold at the E3 showing and super sold when the dev started tearing up after Miyamoto gave him a shout out. Just need a Switch now.

Metroid + Futurama please!!

That would be amazing!

I don't think he's wrong. It's his opinion on the quality.

No it's his opinion on a rating average.... far from being something constructive and build from his perception of the game's quality.

Reviews are an indication, that's about it. You can't have a definitive opinion on a game based on scores. so I give his opinion a "decent" review :p

no seriously, like you're saying he was just making a remark based on his way of looking at reviews... which I find not the best but he probably wasn't trying to troll. Still it's not like he's being constructive or else in the discussion.

I have the feeling this will sell gang busters.
More cross overs pls Nintendo!
It's not about crossovers.

Mario + Sonic games are more or less shite. In fact, sometimes having powerful IPs to show makes you care less about the actual game because you'll sell copies based on fan service alone.

It's about quality... and that's what this game seems to surprisingly deliver. Praise the studio, not the brands.

Hmm. This sounds solid but I just don't have the bandwidth for another 30-40 hour RPG right now. I think I'll pass on it for now and play it in a few months when I've cleared some of my backlog.

Does anyone remember what I think is the first rumour for this game? I think it was a leaked list of sorts that said Yoshi X Rabbids...and here we are. Hah.

I wish it was still called Yoshi X Rabbids.

I want to give it a try, but I know from experience I normally lose patience with this type of game once the challenge starts to ramp up. I've played the first 75% of each Advance Wars game, for example.

According to the Reddit review thread, the file size of this game is 2.3GB. Is it just me, or have a bunch of Switch games been insanely small downloads relative to their scope?

EDIT: Accolades Trailer:

SOMEONE POINTED OUT THAT THERES A SPOILER IN THE COMMENT SECTION OF THIS TRAILER SO BE CAREFUL SORRY

I'm guessing they compressed the audio/video a bit. Considering the Switch only has 32GB of built-in memory (and you have to assume most people aren't going to buy additional microSD cards), size is a way bigger issue on switch than it is on PS4/XBO.

I don't think the game has much CGI to speak of.

I still can't believe we are at this point. In terms of slapping a theme onto a genre I love, I don't think you could have possibly pitched a game I'd be less interested in. But yet here we are with me finding myself legit excited to play a game with fucking "Rabbids" in the title on Day One. How did this happen?

Not shocked at all. From the gameplay reveal it proved to be something special, and they couldn't have chosen a better base to be inspired by. Glad it's arriving in twelve hours or so.

Mike, I always dig your stuff. Turned USGamer into one of my main places for reviews.

Plus it's not like Mario games really go for high res, detailed textures or the like, over simple but clean ones. Part of what makes them so wonderfully scalable for emulators.

Happy to see the reviews though, definitely on my list for when I get a Switch.
