Marvel Select Age of Ultron Hulk

Oh, oh! Lookie lookie! Iron man has a Stark Head, yells yeah

This is bloody ridiculous!!! Hasbro literally has 3 full waves ready to go. And the SHIELD 3-pack on top of it all.

I hope they aren't front loading the year. I want to see more figure waves than last year

Hulk is SO MASSIVE he almost can't be contained in the packaging. He's gonna be a huge seller.

I really don't want to buy another Cap since he looks nearly the same as the ones already pegwarming everywhere, but gotta do what you gotta do

Holy junk. Those figures look nice. Man Hasbro is bringing it full force as of late. Absolutely great to see. Is that Cap a repaint of the Winter Soldier figure? I really liked that design.

I have my Marvel Select Venom in that same pose pictured earlier for the same reason. Old school Mcfarlane Venom is best venom.

Also, more funny Legends photos:

Lol brilliant photos :)

I really don't want to buy the whole set to get that Thanos. I'll try to pick him up on Ebay.

Hopefully the Stark Head looks better than the first movie's sculpt- it's about time we got another real Tony Stark head on a Legends though- excited for this one, even if it's yet another repaint of a figure I already own of a character I don't even like.

Batroc finally getting a release is the hypest shit.

Hulk is a must have for my Avengers shelf, but I'm bummed they went with the more boring of the two heads they showed in prototype. Would've much preferred the screaming head.

Cap's new movie costume is a repaint of the Winter Soldier suit in the movie itself, so I don't mind it being reused again- especially since it's such a fantastic mold. The not-Chris Evans head getting repacked yet again is hilarious though.

Spider-Woman and Hellcat both look great. I'm probably only going to buy Spider-Woman to save a little since she'll fit into my display better, and they come with identical BAF parts.

I dig that both female figures have the same build-a-fig parts, it might make it easier for people to build thanos that way since the two females are going to be among the hottest sellers, so you only need to fin done of them (increases your odds a bit.) Though I suspect Hulk will be the must-have simply because we haven't got one since the Wal Mart exclusive Avengers wave (unless I'm forgetting some?), and he's quite large which makes him a good value

I already have the Odin and Hobgolin waves pre-ordered on dorksidetoys. Looking forward to securing this set as well.

That seems weird to me that they'd have two of the same set of parts in the set of six figures. Is that normal?

it's not ideal but it happens with some series.

The worst case scenario is when they release a series in TWO waves like they did with the Iron Man 3 series -- you had to wait a while for the second wave of the series to come out to get all of the parts. I hate that. :P

Another crappy thing that can happen is I've seen them put build-a-fig parts with the least desireable figure, although they did not do that with the recent X-Men Jubilee wave, much to many people's delight (I still bough that Wolvie though -- maskless Wolvie was cool to get.)

So, this is much better than some alternatives

What would have been REALLY cool is if they gave one an alternate Thanos head -- like a different expression or something. But, can't have it all.

That seems weird to me that they'd have two of the same set of parts in the set of six figures. Is that normal?

They've been doing swap figures for a while now, and most of them have come with the same BAF part- though a couple did change things, like the Arnim Zola wave had a swap figure that let you change the BAF from being Arnim Zola to being Red Skull in control of Zola's robot. It's kinda weird that those two are the only swap figures in the wave and have the same parts, when the Spider-Man wave right before this includes a swap figure set where you still need to buy both to complete the BAF. It seems like this year is getting kinda weird with swaps.

I'm not very familiar with Hellcat but I see she has some affiliation with The Defenders.

I wonder if she'll appear in any of the upcoming Netflix shows?

Cool that Spider-Woman appears to have 2 sets of web wings - 1 for arms up, 1 for arms down. Hellcat has something else in the box too.

I started collecting figures maybe 7-8 months ago, and the Marvel Legends are my favorite cheap figures. So far I have built Groot, and grabbed WS movie Cap and Winter Soldier.
Is there anywhere to pre order those Thanos BAF figures yet? I've been looking around tonight, but I have found zilch.

Welcome. Looking forward to a strong year of Marvel Legends figures.

Though I wish this topic could be expanded into a more general action figure thread, because the other Figure thread here on gaf is almost exclusively about Japanese girl figures or statues. You can't bring up action figures there or you're quickly reminded at how "inferior" they are.

Someone could always make a general action figure thread.

I don't know, I used to post pretty much every time I found a new Legend or Select to pick up and had a couple really quality conversations in FigureGAF. It tended to get buried by anime stuff, but that's just because it was the preferred subject for the vast majority of the thread- no one ever tried to lord their Japanese stuff over anyone, at least in my personal experience.

It's nice to have a thread dedicated to conversations I can actually participate in though.

It has been my experience. I've tried to jump in a few times and there's no interest there. A while back someone even brought up the Jakks Pacific Nintendo figures there. That didn't go over well.

It's no figma (which I do own, also) but for a mass market link figure priced under $8 it's really cool

It comes with the shield (it's hidden inside the mystery box shown in the packaging)

haha so true. You would think with how well NECA is doing with their stuff and how great the Hasbo Marvel and Star Wars stuff is going we could get a good thead going

Yup, I stopped trying to have discussions about these in the FigureOT.
Its either the Jakks thread or their thread on The Fwoosh for any discussion of them.

Well, we'll see. I haven't decided to make an OT yet. If someone else does, great, let us know.

more ML news, take it with some salt, got it from a facebook group :)

Hopefully this is true- I really want to see a full Ant-Man wave.

Also- I assumed Valkyrie was part of the second Avengers wave, I just realized that she's not in the case we saw above.

If I had to guess, we'll see at least a third (possibly even a fourth) Avengers wave with her, Movie Thor, Movie Hawkeye, Movie Ultron and a Hulkbuster Armor Iron Man. Maybe movie Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver too. I hope we get a mostly complete movie team this year- I missed out on all the first movie figures, but even if I didn't, that Thor could use a serious upgrade and it'd be nice to get Hawkeye's new suit in figure form.

My ideal dream waves would probably be:

Wave 3- Hulkbuster BAF
Thor (Age of Ultron)
Hawkeye (Age of Ultron)
Scarlet Witch (Age of Ultron)
Valkyrie (Modern Comics)
Quicksilver (Classic Comics)
The Vision (Classic Comics)

Wave 4- MCU Ultron BAF- Released a while after the movie, because it still seems like they're trying to keep some characters out of the marketing
Quicksilver (Age of Ultron)
Vision (Age of Ultron)
Rescue (Iron Man 3 prototype from a while back)
Kang the Conqueror
Loki (Comics)
Falcon (MCU)

Looking forward to Toyfair next month- hopefully we see some cool Marvel stuff there. When the first Avengers movie came out, most people didn't know it would blow up so big- Hasbro's gotta be firing on all cylinders to get as much stuff out there to tie Age of Ultron as possible.

I agree with there being a general action figure OT. No clue what it could be called, though.

Would an "Action Figure" thread title be enough to distinguish it from the FigureGAF thread? I wouldn't want it to come across as redundant even though it's obvious to us in this thread that it would be focused on a very different variety of collectibles as the other.

I collect mechas and action figures from japanese shows or western shows/super heroes, I don't collect anime girls so I am considered "a rare breed" in FigureGAF, I would love an OT for action figures separated of the anime girls/nendo stuff.

You have my Axe

That's what I'm worried about, but I think it would slide. Maybe something like this:
Action Figures |OT| *Insert relevant text here*
?

Action-Figure GAF |OT| *THEY'RE NOT DOLLS!*
Action-Figure GAF |OT| *Anything more than 6" is just excessive*

I like that one.

I think if the OP explains the difference then it should be fine. It could even reference FigureGAF for contrast.

Someone could always make a general action figure thread.

Non-anime Action Figures OT | Collect the Inferior with Pride

It can include action anime stuff, Figma Berserk figures and Figma Avengers fit the bill nicely

Just make it clear to leave the anime gurl / lewd stuff in the other FigureGAF

An OT for action figures would be great. The other Figure thread is pretty liberal with the use of the word figure. Figurines is more fitting.

The Japanese make some pretty amazing articulated action figures, that would fit in over here more then the other thread.. Even if they are anime.

Heres some of my Japanese stuff. They fit in nice with my western figures.

Maybe the big difference between this thread and the other is the lack of articulation they have over there in most of their "figures". So maybe some reference to articulation would differentiate the threads. Or we could raid their thread, beat em up and still the word "figure" from them.

I'm not over familiar with those but a quick Google search make it seem like they'd fit fine to me. Are we distinguishing more based on size, subject matter and perhaps articulation? FigureGAF seems very much about posed statues than "Action Figures" per se.

Definitely.

Amazing collection, that's what I am talking about, good possability on those Figmas.

I think articulation is a must but we shouldn't be so strict with the sizes or at least include up to 12" so Hot Toys collector can post their awesome collections as well

I do enjoy thread naming discussions.
As do I :)

It's funny how Hot Toys are featured in the OP of FigureGAF, but they're not really talked about there.

I peaked through the first few pages and there's not much there outside of more anime focused collecting. That is the third OT and perhaps other types factored in more to earlier discussions but I haven't been around that long so I wouldn't know. It's obvious that the anime style figures dominate that thread though.

FigureGAF meant well, they tried to be inclusive, but with the stuff that's posted there, can't blame any action figure collectors that got weirded out and decided it was better not to post there, most of the time is not worth the effort, I've seen a few awesome pics/posts getting buried whitin minutes with the usual content and the same anime gurl gif used over and over.

Action Figure GAF can't come soon enough.

I'd like to be a part of this new FigureGAF, I just started collecting the Marvel Universe figures. They're really well made for how small they are.

No promises, but I could ask my buddy to make a banner. He's the art director at my studio. If he has time this weekend, he might be able to bust one out. Be warned, it'll probably have a Ninja Turtle in it.
