I have all the fancy smacy graphic equipment here and and have the great fortune of being unemployed at the moment so I have time in abundance. So I offer my axe if needed.

I have my son earning the Groot BAF piece by piece, for the life of me I can't get the knee and hip joints on the one leg to move at all. Any advice?

I really like their stuff but man, that price tag. Even with the installment plan, that's a lot. Maybe one day...
Yeah, better to think they cost too much, then to not even look at the price when you buy them.

I've heard that hairdryers can loosen joints. Never tried it myself.

That should work, works for changing hands on hot toys just fine, just don't use the highest heat setting. Move the hair dryer around the joint to soften the whole thing, and then use gentle force to get it unstuck. Move it constantly while it cools down to keep it that way, maybe use cold water from the tap while moving it to cool down faster.

I got the joints to move, the leg is made of really bendy plastic and was mostly bending instead of moving in the joint. Just applied pressure until the joint was freed.

only 56 bucks a month, thats not bad at all

Well, there are other things I have my personal money allocated for and raising a wee one certainly isn't cheap. The problem I have is that it's still $200+ for something that simply sits on a shelf. I love collectible stuff but that's hard to justify for me. Maybe someday if there's one that I really, really want.

What would that be though? There are around 300 total Hot Toy figures made to date, what would they have to make to get past the price barrier?

I just don't want to go down the hot toys path cause i'm scared i'll become sean long

you may be able to justify one figure at $200 or $300 but what happens when you start to get hundreds of them... honestly I wonder how this guy even affords it, seems like his only gig is youtube and reporting on toys, is it that lucrative?

well once your youtube page is as popular as his I'm sure he gets some free figures now for reviews. He may also get some decent money from his page. It's crazy how much money some toy review people can generate

When I say someday, it's more of the right combination of disposable income and display space. I've really liked the Amazing Spider-Man that they have and I would like to have one but I just haven't pulled the trigger. I'm a pretty big Captain Marvel fan too so I'll be watching to see if they come out with anything to coincide with the movie in 2018. That might be enough to push me over the edge - and then it's all downhill from there.

I'm aware of that.

Waiting for UK websites to make Cap available for pre-order. Hope it doesn't go above £170.

Curious how far do you want to take your hot toys buying?

I feel like I can't just buy one character. So if I bought Cap i'd feel like I had to buy most of the cast from AoU, maybe lots of people aren't like that and they can just buy 1 or 2 favs, but I'm an all-in kind of person when it comes to collecting.

Hot Toys really knows how to milk their fans though, like releasing all of those really obscure Iron Man armors that barely even appeared in the films (some not at all?), so I could probably skip a lot of that sort of thing... maybe.

Then there's the other part of me that feels so invested in the 6" scale that trying to move into 12" scale is just too much of an investment and commitment

Maybe I should order Hot Toys Vader and see how that goes. And then I can maybe expand from there. I don't know what to do!

I like the thought of catching a Hot Toys line RIGHT as it is starting (Star Wars) then I don't feel like I've missed out on a ton of things.

Well, I've been saving up for just one and hope to stop there... but once I buy it, I know I'll probably want to buy the entire AoU collection D:

I don't really have a good spot in my house to display something like that but the thought of having a complete Avengers set is like makes the nerdy collector part of my brain just melt.

I'm happy I decided to do that for the first one and don't have a strong desire now since that was an expensive pain in the ass for less characters. Still can't believe how much Hawkeye goes for.

Looking great. Have all the HT Star Wars stuff on order since that's what I mainly collect. Looks so much better than the Sideshow offering.

I'm happy with him, but it might be better to wait an see if the "Spidey joins the Marvel movies" stuff comes to pass...

Waiting for UK websites to make Cap available for pre-order. Hope it doesn't go above £170.

He should be around there, still might be a few days until they put him up though, had to wait like 3 or 4 days for Vader to go up.

I like the thought of catching a Hot Toys line RIGHT as it is starting (Star Wars) then I don't feel like I've missed out on a ton of things.

Just from personal experience, I've been cherry picking the characters from the Marvel movies and putting them together "my way", my intent was to buy each Avenger, but the recent Cap is the first (of the 8 total made so far) Captain America's I've liked enough to buy. I'm in it for the realistic interpretation of comic characters I grew up loving.

Still need a Thor as well, but again was never 100% on the first three (4 if you count sleeved/no sleeve variant a whole separate Thor) they made, and you have to be 100% to pay this much for stuff. Gonna replace the Mark V Ironman, with the Mark 43.

If you really want to dip your toe in, pick one line of Hot Toys and stick with just that, if you don't like them they tend to retain there value, if you like 'em but just can't afford to keep them, getting out of them can be easier then getting into them, as there's always someone else looking to get in to 'em.

Vader's looking good...

Yeah I don't have an issue buying HT because I can always make a profit off them. It gets really bad when you start buying for that purpose though.

The Sideshow offering is /stellar/.

Preordered. It's like the first Cap costume I like.
I ordered the Winter Soldier get-up. The Strike Suit in particular:

http://www.sideshowtoy.com/collecti...ica-stealth-s-t-r-i-k-e-suit-hot-toys-902187/

By far my favorite. I have the original Hot Toys Captain from First Avengers as well so I think I'm done with him for awhile.

I can't wait for this OT. I've posted in Figure GAF a few times but it's a whole different animal. Conversation about this stuff just gets lost.

I noticed that Strike Suit Cap and the Marvel Legends figure have a blue shield. I hadn't even noticed the color of the shield during that scene. Had to look it up on YouTube to make sure I wasn't crazy.

If you like a shitty tailored undersuit, an out of scale body, and a too thick lightsaber sure.

I had the STRIKE version on order but the suit looked too big. Doesn't show any muscle definition in the chest at all. I have the Golden Age Cap (always buy the "preview" figures) and the Avengers version (for a complete Avengers lineup).

Uhh ohhhh looks like we are turning into the SideshowFreaks forum

I looked through the Marvel figures on the Sideshow website and man does the crappy Canadian dollar ever through a wet blanket on those dreams.

I look at your avvie and can't imagine you busy lol
Hhehehe.

Now... I think it's time for Action Figure GAF to assemble.

Haloid (and whoever else would like to help) - You get me info on good action figure retailers (We already have a few posted here that I will include).

TwEE-N-Toast - You and I will do graphics stuff.

And ohhthegore - Smash.

I feel like an Avenger now.

I wasn't going to say it.;)

That's extraordinarily nitpicky and frankly I'm not going to get a massive hard on over production photos from Hot Toys. They have their own set of problems from time to time (I own over 35 Hot Toys figures for the sake of posterity). Don't get me wrong either, I love HT quality. They make the best on the market, IMO by far.

They made me like this for sure. But displaying the SSC Vader with the HT Bespin Luke (which is exactly how I have him) makes it really apparent.
Sideshow figures are to scale with their own line (as evidenced by the Fett photo I posted) but I can understand the frustration in displaying next to a HT figure, yeah.

LOL.

I can't believe I haven't seen this thread until now. It's great if you guys are making an OT specific to this stuff. The current figure thread is WAY too anime focused for me.

I despise the Avengers version.:) One of the fugliest suit designs ever. The Golden Age is nice. I went back and forth on it.

I love the original First Avengers release. Only wish the face sculpt had been better.

Will do. Should I just PM you the write ups and links and you make it pretty?

That picture isn't really accurate to the fight with them both on stands and slightly apart. It's better than the first Sideshow Vader for sure, but it could have been better. My main complaint is the fit of the pants in the crotch area though. Always wrinkles because of too much fabric.

I can take a shot sans stands. They are accurate in that regard. I have a few of the other Bounty Hunter line (IG-88, Bossk, etc.) and they're generally good about keeping scale within their own line. It's certainly out of scale with Hot Toys though. As you said, it's pretty noticeable.

Maybe SSF just fucked with me. Is it really that big a difference than their first Vader? Because I know for a fact he was too tall.

Plus when I received Vader his lights didn't work and his tusks were broken so I already hated the figure our of package. Oh well.

Can't blame you, man. I'd be pissed as hell, too.

That kind of stuff drives me batty.

Thanks!

I'll post some updated shots in the new OT.

My latest acquisition (which I posted in the figure thread):

I'm in the "just too expensive" court.

They'r really REALLY nice figures and all, but man I can think of a thousand things I'd rather spend $2-300 bucks on.

Maybe if they were $100.
