Can't speak for the other countries, but after seeing what communism did in my country and what the descendants of these people are doing now how can you trust the government?
I'm not talking about any super secret world domination (lol, insert Poland stronk meme), but all (but one) parties since 1989 are built on lies and skeletons in closets and they will do anything to remain in power, so lies about the severity (both medically, socially and economically) of this pandemic are given.

Who exactly within China would feel safe enough to speak out on the record, as you're suggesting? Whistleblowers in China tend to have a very bleak life expectancy.

I'm not saying that China is always transparent. Of course, China can be criticised for many things, and I do not believe that the figures for the coronavirus are correct. But that is not what this is about. It is about the extreme exaggerations (not only about China).

Also this is not about whistleblowers. There are millions of foreigners living in China who are free to move around and report what they want and there are plenty of ways to be anonymous on the internet. China is constantly being criticized, mostly by its own citizens. I have the feeling that some people confuse other cultures and lifestyles, which differ from their own, with constant oppression.

Anecdotal evidence.. But my dad said the beaches here in Southern California were busier than most summer days. People clearly not social distancing!
I live here and the parks are completely packed. School yards are filled to the brim even with school out. Kids all over playground. People working out at park together on yoga mats. People just don't give a fuck. It's shocking to me.

Yep I’ve seen loads of people at parks, out for walks etc today we’ve got 2 confirmed cases here. People aren’t heeding the advice and it’s going to cost us all.

We’ve had very little contact with the outside world since my kids finished school on Wednesday but we were reducing social contact before then We’re on a self imposed lockdown now.

Only leaving the house for supplies and even then we’re avoiding supermarkets, just buying from local shops instead so our sphere of risk is smaller, taking all the precautions we again but if others don’t then it might be for nothing 🤷‍♂️

Got to be honest Gaf I didn’t sleep well last night the stress and worry of what things will look like in a few weeks/months is a worrying prospect. I’ve got a stress migraine today from the lack of sleep. I’ve spoken to the kids about we how have to ration the food, we’ve got enough for over a month atm but what about then? 🤷‍♂️

Just needed to get some stuff have my chest but I think Boris should bring in a mandatory lockdown and enforced by the military, extreme I know but people aren’t listening.

sorry for the rant I’m just so worried.

Sadly an inevitability of the profession as a point of contact.

My mom is a 60 year old Emergency Room Physician 😥 I’m worrying about her every day. My dad has a lung condition so she has rented an extended stay hotel room near the hospital for the next two months at least so she doesn’t risk infecting my dad (who is 70).

What worries me is that you're right. Same boat here tbh - doing our best, in total self-isolation, brief wandering to see what town was like while metal-gear-soliding the locals and it was retarded. A toyshop doing 2-for-1 deals was rammed full of morons. Nothing on earth would get me in that shop. Amazon is a thing, use it ffs. You're right though, full lockdown with military enforcement allied to rationing enforced by delivery-only shopping is the way to go tbh. Not something I thought I'd ever ask for but that's where we are.

Why would anyone go in a toy shop at a time like this 😧 I had to go up town the other day to put some cash in the bank for online ordering but it was closed 😬 I was the same, avoiding people left and right and kept my distance, washing my hands afterwards

I 100% agree bring in a compulsory lockdown now and get the military to handle food distribution so there is enough to go round.

let’s hope things turn around soon.

I've advised in this thread earlier to eat activated garlic, which is a great antiviral, and something that I've done for years anyway. (plenty of other health benefits)

I'll also mention that copper is a wonderful antiviral. (Sorry if someone else has already posted it. I can't read all of these pages. :p) Wearing 100% copper bracelet or just regularly touching pure copper is another good defense measure worth taking imo.

Same in Florida. Shut down the beaches and national parks? State parks are open and jammed with people.

On my drive the other day, a couple of local restaurants are jammed with people sitting inside.

Social distance and 6’ between people? Lol no such thing.

I've never seen so many people socialising outside my window in my entire life. Groups of kids everywhere, people having BBQs and everything.

NOBODY is isolating here. It's really annoying.

square pies = communism
Most places seem to have areas with lots of people out and about ignoring distancing regardless of country. Governments probably would have been better off mandating a licking quota. At least then, people would continue to do the opposite of what they're told and actually stay home.

To be fare, it is always like that at night. One of the first things I noticed was the air was brown and at 11:30 every night everything goes dark, like completely dark. I really only travel to Shanghai \ Suzhou, so not sure if the whole country is like that.

People seem to be dismissing how debilitated people recovering actually are. Even young people who get it, are suffering significant lung damage. Seems even young people aren't able to breathe when their lungs fill with fluid either.

It's not just about the mortality figures.

Basically all the leaks from Chinese whistleblowers were right. Lots of recovered people have scarred lungs from the autoimmune reaction the virus triggers, which will probably shave 10-15 years off their life. And, if this becomes seasonal, they will probably die if they get reinfected.

All the parks around here are overflowing with people. My neighbors are all having gatherings in their yards during the week. Kids are playing in groups at the playground. Most people are just treating this like an extra vacation from work.

We live in uncertain times at the moment. I think what's shocked me is how quickly things have changed. The panic buying and the consequent lack of availability of daily essentials are only making matters worse. I live on my own, so I have full control over the rate of consumption, but even I am worrying about things running out.
When I look online, many of the essentials I usually buy are out of stock with no restock dates. All the delivery slots for the next three weeks across the major supermarkets are unavailable. The Click and Collect points are too far (I don't drive). The only other option for me is to queue with the crazy people panic buying and increase my risk of getting infected. Britain seems to be the only country in Europe where this madness is happening. That the masses need to be explicitly told not to panic buy and to think of others is a damning indictment of modern British culture and its values.
I think those power should be doing more than just telling people to stop panic buying. The people clearing the shelves and making life even more miserable in these difficult times are an absolute disgrace.

The videos are certainly not fake, but what you interpret into them is the question. Is the first video recorded early in the morning? Late at night? Which area? Why are there a lot of lights on in the second video, when according to the first video most of them are off?

For weeks now there have been many videos that show how the residents motivate themselves to keep it up.

The video here for example (there are MANY others as well). The sound quality is much worse, but also here people scream around senselessly, others shout or shout things. If you leave the sound quality aside, it all sounds pretty much the same. The people in the residential areas probably do this every evening and some people probably get annoyed when you want to sleep for example.

PS: I almost feel like an idiot to "defend" China, because I'm not a friend of the government and against any kind of censorship, oppression etc., but you have to see everything in context and not always overrate individual videos or Twitter postings.

Of the COVID-19 cases reported in Canada to date, approximately half (54%) are male. Approximately one third (30%) of cases are 60 years old and over (Figure 4).

f4-eng.jpg

Seems more in line with SK and the Netherlands figures than with Italy's breakdowns.

Commonly reported symptoms among reported cases include cough (81%), fever (58%) and shortness of breath (26%).

Based on case reports received to date, 9% of cases have been hospitalized; 6% of cases have been admitted to hospital but did not require ICU admission and 3% of cases have been admitted to the ICU. Note that the Public Health Agency of Canada does not receive updates on case hospitalization status.

Thirteen people have died of COVID-19 to date in Canada.

*data is based on 839 cases*

So far a decent hospitlization rate, lower than many across the world. And its been going down as the numbers go up. We were as high as 13% at one point. But as cases increase and the symptom cycle completes those % can increase.

Do you have Seoul-specific numbers?

isolated 260
Discharged 64
Deceased 0
Total 324

Right now SK is basically getting cases in Seoul (10) Dageu (43) Gyengi (16) and Gyenog Buk(11) a few other places with 1 case and a couple of places with no cases.

Count of Concision
I've taken the time to do a Google search for you. I've even perused through the results for you.

324

Wait, so 8700 cases in SK as a whole, but only 324 in its (presumably) most densely populated city? Doesn't make sense to me, but I just checked the numbers and it seems you're right - looks like Daegu is by far the hardest hit for some reason. Btw, I have no doubt that there's a good chance that SK has handled this better than NYC/USA - that was never my point lol.

Deadly virus is unleashed. Who's up for a BBQ? invite friends and family rounds....Do you want Covid with that Burger? :messenger_tears_of_joy:.

It's startling how many people are not taking this seriously, quite a few kids at the park whilst I've got my children locked up in the inside. If people don't start isolating the NHS will collapse.

Yeh things have changed so fast, community spirit is laughable when people are buying up all the TP, soap and other basic food stuffs. I'm trying to stay away from the supermarket, it'll be a hotbed of Covid in the coming weeks. Same here I can't get a delivery, or even a click and collect so I'm just foraging in the local shops just to reduce my sphere of risk. I've got 7 toilet rolls and quarter of a roll of kitchen roll left so we're rationing that out. Me and the missus just went through the cupboards, fridge/freezer and if we really ration out the food, we could maybe get 50 days without leaving the house but that'll eat us out house and home and we will have shortages of a lot of other stuff too. The panic buying hit really hard and fast and for people that are restricted by economics, supply and storage capacity it's left them desperately short.

On a positive but horrifying note with all the shortages going on, many will lose weight so there is a positive.

Yeah we have to force people to stay indoors now. No idea how that would even work though as we literally have no police in my town. The police station isn't staffed.
