Mass Effect 3 Debut Trailer - Holiday 2011 - 360/PS3/PC

Hell they can probably do that themselves. I know in that side mission in ME2 where you land on an empty space station with that rogue VI, before you shut it down it tries to install itself on the Normandy..and that's just a VI.

Just a VI being the key phrase.

EDI was fine until I stopped and tried to figure out how she could know exactly what the Reapers were up to based solely on a two-second glace at a giant terminator.

ANALYSIS!

It seems they're looking at UI changes. There was also some interesting information about ME2's development.

The radar was resource-intensive? While interesting, I am having a lot of trouble imagining how they managed that...

the sheer quality of the CG in this trailer still blows my mind. it's like a quantum leap from ME2.

'Trailer' being the key word.

We will not get anything resembling that in the game.

I hate it, to be honest.

Look at the ME1 CG trailer "Decisions".

This trailer, as did the ME2 trailer, represents the "Gearsification" of the franchise in my eyes...:)

It was Gears from the beginning, but a bad one. Now it needs to jump from decent Gears to good Gears.

A Dead Space style HUD would work well in Mass Effect. There's not a lot of info they need to communicate to the player, so they could probably minimise it just fine.

And yeah, remove the tendrils of doom.

You guys should also discuss the story of the second game compared to the first. Im pretty sure we haven't talked about that yet.

I agree, I dont see why they can't get all the information we see somewhere on the suit, it would bring even more immersion.

no more vain eyes when close to death? horrah, thought smeared jam from cod is annoying it was better then what ME2 did.

I don't mind the heath and shield bars in game though I HATE HATE HATE floating team mates heads at the bottom of then screen when not fighting or shooting, some real eyecandy looking locations ruined by two floating team mate heads on the hud.

As pointed out in the posts that Nirolak linked, copying it whole sale wouldn't work well. Maybe Bioware can play around with the idea of displaying information on the characters or something but trying to copy it would not work.

That's why I didn't say they should copy it.

Yeah, there was no reason for those floating heads at the bottom.

Yeah I don't know if it'll work honestly. I had no problems with the way ME1 and ME2 did things aside from the veins in the second one.

Besides, when you get close to an enemy or when you're in a tight cover spot you don't see much of yourself. Good luck putting vital information on my suit.

The UI is the least of Mass Effect's problems anyway :)

why? it's Gears already. Now they need to tighten combat a bit more.
No, they need to make the combat more dynamic and fun like in ME1.

Less focus on guns and more jedi powers

Amen. It seems ME has become another bullet point on the EA quarterly-earnings report. Gotta dumb it down and sell it to eeeeeeeveryone!!

BioWare, I miss you. I miss the games you used to make. I don't want "push A for Awesome". I don't.

At this rate I wonder if ME3 will have multiplayer...

Edit: I also don't care about EARTH. You build this incredible universe and it comes down to saving earth? Really? Mainstream all the way it seems...

No it's not about saving earth... pfff

It is about saving America.

Big Ben looked beyond saving to me...

Unless that trailer takes place 12 seconds before Sheppard hits them with a nano-shutdown bomb, Big Ben's a goner.

Lady Liberty on the other hand...

=)

kind of funny to hear they were looking at non-traditional HUD to improve immersion in ME2 and then they end up putting in the Mission Complete screens...

I wonder if they let us control other party members since there's multiplayer in.

I don't believe they're ever actually CONFIRMED multiplayer, although they've done everything short of installing a giant neon sign saying "THERE IS MULTIPLAYER IN THIS GAME!"

And I'm guessing that it'll be a separate mode.

Oh god, tell me about it. More than any other change, those just KILLED the immersion factor for me.

Yeah, that completely ruined the immersion =\

What?! I loved the Mission Complete thing :lol

The masses want some points divvied up at the end of their matches. Something to let them know they've completed level two.

One good thing about Arrival is the playable demos they've shown have elevator rides again instead of loading screens. Hopefully a sign of things to come.

Why? It completely broke the flow between missions and did a really good job reminding you that you were playing a videogame.
Reminding me that I'm playing a videogame is a positive thing for me :lol

Also I get the sense of achievement everytime I complete a mission, the music that starts is amazing. I can also super easily brief through what I did on the mission.

Comments like these will ensure we never see a return to games like ME1. Unless your sarcasm is so thick I'm not picking it up...

I haven't been following this thread very often, so I dont know if it was discussed.

I REALLY hope they fix your allies AI. I couldnt stand when I told my allies to stay behind cover next to me then just get up and run the fuck out into the open. This was incredibly frustrating on Insanity in ME2, especially when you had to fight those big mechs.

I absolutely love that ME1 trailer. Got me pretty excited to be honest. Still on my Xbox HD too after all these years.

I'm hoping it's sarcasm as well. If not, you're right. Games like ME1 are done for =\

Every mission takes less than an hour to complete. You really can't remember what you did less than an hour ago?

And, if I may ask, why is being reminded you're playing a videogame a positive thing for you? Do you not care about the story or the world of Mass Effect?

PS3 owner here, tell your Bioware to port Mass Effect (1) and I'll gladly pay for it :)

It's not about reminding, it's about confirming the exact things you did throughout the missions.

Sounds like someone who hasn't played the first game.

I care about the story, but when I posted the following comments in the official thread:

I just beat it...

Such deep and evolving character development lead combined with such great atmospheric music and story design.

I cried...

Currently at 110 hours playtime and I'm starting to think it's soon over... I really, really, REALLY don't want it to end. One of the best cinematic experiences I've had in a long time, I love Tali. I LOVE Tali, and I hate my life for choosing FemSheppard and now I can't choose Tali as my lover :(
I got bashed hard, so the real question is if YOU guys care about the story and the world of Mass Effect :lol
