Mass Effect: Andromeda releases Patch 1.05 Thursday, details more changes for future

I don't understand how they weren't able to implement such a small change (eye shader) that has such a big impact on the player experience. I mean they had years of time and they were able to do it in 2 weeks??

lmao thats a MASSIVE difference. Like a fucking huge change they couldn't launch with that? I guess they just ran out of time. I was thinking about waiting 2 months but now I want to jump in.

you getting the "Out of memory" error referencing directx? If so, your page file is too small. Set it to "system managed" and reboot your machine.. and it should work.

I had my page file set to 3GB because I have 16GB of ram.. my game would also crash.. usually when opening the menu or the map. I set it to system managed and rebooted and it was fine in-game.. no more crash.

That's not the case at all. I do appreciate the help but myself and a lot of others have gone through everything to fix this, pagefile settings, resintallation, someone even reinstalled windows completely. That is not the issue.

My pagefile has been set to system managed since day 1.

Eyes look definitely better in cutscenes now, but my Ryder looks a bit weird when i just look at her in game. I guess that's always a bit of the problem if you change something like that afterwards.
It's also one more reason to quickly make plastic surgery available, so that we can change our existing characters. I probably would have gone for a bit different color with these eyes.
You can skip planet transitions now, it will then skip right to that zoom in and out part at the end. Would have liked to cut that also, but that's probably still needed for loading.

IMO something still looks off with this eyes

Sara's and Suvi's look great in those screenshots IMO. Addison's are still off in that one screen (probably because she's got that weird wide-eyed stare where you can see her entire irises) but they do look much better than before. Then again, Addison is just generally going to look off until they fix or remove her make-up.

EDIT: Looks like they did tone down her make-up and I didn't notice it. Probably because the blush still looks a bit too heavy (they should just get rid of the blush on her entirely IMO).

That's not likely what happened.

Seems like BioWare had some questionable management on ME:A, probably priorities went somewhere else in order to make it to release date. I bet a lot of people at BioWare knew animation, eyes, bugs, would be a major negative point when the game came out but had to deal with it, they've been probably working on these things for a while know.

We need more before and after shots, I can definitely see an improvement though.

That's quite the improvement indeed (shamelessly stolen from reddit)

I can't tell if the makeup is less pronounced. Is there a comparison with the same facial expressioN? I hope it is changed drastically because it was god awful in the vanilla release.

EDIT: just saw ItsTheNew's post. Looks better, but I would like one with the same facial expression

Wow, even just this adjustment to the eye shader gives a massive boost to the overall believability of the faces.

I'm still a little nonplussed that this was something that could get done in a week, but somehow wasn't part of the game in the first place.

It's out ?...I have the game installed on the Pro but did not play it yet, maybe thats why it didnt auto update...

Nice.

Welp.

The patch didn't even fix the directx error. Crashed after 10 minutes and had to restart the PC. Beyond pissed at thus point.

There's a new Nvidia driver out. Download Display Driver Uninstaller and uninstall everything in Safe Mode. Then install the latest driver and see if that fixes it. If not, it's possibly a hardware issue (unstable OC), which can be fixed by downclocking your core and memory clocks in increments of 100mhz until stable.

It likely took much longer than 2 weeks but not in time for the day one patch window so gotta defer to the next wave.

Not seeing the performance improvements yet on PS4, at least not on the Tempest. I just walked in on four characters in the central room and it was well below 30 fps.

Have you got an OC on your gpu? If you do, try turning it down to stock levels. It's what fixed it for me.

Is it an official update, because its not on GFE? Edit: Found it on their site, downloading now. Cheers.

Also, it's not the overclock either.

Edit: Just to be a bit more helpful, here's what we have all tried on the official forums:

Setting pagefile to auto, or setting it to various high amounts including matching ram amount.
Installing to same drive as origin
Reinstalling game, drivers
Disabling overclock and also downclocking
Setting to borderless and turning down all settings

None of these work, it's on Biowares end.

Definitely going to just start over once I'm finished with Persona 5. Sucks that these improvements weren't in the initial release but at least they're putting the effort in post-release.

Have they acknowledged the complaints about boarding the tempest and auotomatically taking off from worlds yet?

I don't think so and I think it's unlikely to changes anyway. They would need to load both the Tempest and the planet exterior at the same time while keeping the performance and memory requirement the same. Sounds like a huge amount of work unless they can find a smarter solution.

Yeah good point, I'll just get on with it ha ha

Eyes definitely look better now and it's a step in the right direction although I think more can be done to make them the stare look more natural.

Also, seems like they changed Cora/Liam's casual outfit color, now resembles the initiative's color:

PC Maxed settings, did these cut scenes have DOF before?

EDIT: I will ignore the DOF error in the first pic on the tablet. ;)

Software development is all about prioritization. It only took two weeks but that's time they probably needed for a thousand other things getting the game ready to ship. If the game had been delayed they probably could have made a lot of these quality improvements but there's only so much you can do with existing deadlines.

And just think if fucking EA morons would just have waited and had some patience. Give them a few more months, not try and push EA Access, we could have avoided a lot of fuckery, not tarnish the game brand, studio everything. Greed isn't always good.

Wow the eyes looks much better. Amazing.

I can't wait to see how this game plays after the updates and all DLC. Sad I know, that we are eager for fixes at this point in gaming.

Well, thank god the eyes is fixed, now please add TressFX / HairWorks (hair, beards etc.) for at least the main cast of human characters and at least static versions without PhysX simulation to eliminate huge performance hit. I can't stand past gen hair and beards in this day and age!

Other Joe improved a lot in the latest patch. He doesn`t look nearly as tired anymore.

"Your goddamn father's dead!" Lol. Classic.

This is really confidence inspiring for me. Yeah it shouldn't have been released in the state it was in the first place. But if BioWare can continue to make improvements this substantial, Andromeda can become the special game that the franchise deserves.
