Mass Effect: Andromeda releases Patch 1.05 Thursday, details more changes for future

I'm in the camp that this eye shader change made the overall experience much better. Such a small tweak in the grand scheme of things.

Especially in a game where you're staring at talking humanoid heads for 50% of the game. I have a save that's 9 hours in. I'm thinking about restarting after I finish Persona 5.

I can't tell if the makeup is less pronounced. Is there a comparison with the same facial expressioN? I hope it is changed drastically because it was god awful in the vanilla release.

My wife's first reaction upon seeing Addison: "Whoa, her makeup is a bit intense."

Wow the difference a minor change like that can make is pretty amazing. I'm not too terribly far in the SP yet, been playing a lot of MP so this is most welcome.

Well, thank god the eyes is fixed, now please add TressFX / HairWorks (hair, beards etc.) for at least the main cast of human characters and at least static versions without PhysX simulation to eliminate huge performance hit. I can't stand past gen hair and beards in this day and age!

Not going to happen.

Those eyes are a lot better now. Is it actually only an eye shader matter?

They also changed the make-up texture, at least in Addison's case.

It's quite a noticeable difference in the eyes. They look alive now. wish it was in at launch but better late than never.

Definitely looks better.
But eyes and animations don't don't really behave in the way you'd expect within the context of what's happening on screen.

Sucks for those that played at launch

The first time I saw her I thought of Airplane:

Having said that these changes look great! Now to decide to restart now or wait to restart in two months...

Thank God @ the makeup changes. It was way unattractive. Like, bordering 80's era prom night levels.

Edit: Could still use some work, based on the above posts. Tbh, I'd rather they not even wear makeup, but that's just how I feel in general irl.

New eye shaders do improve things, they don't look quite like lifeless dolls anymore.

What's the ETA for this patch on Xbox One today?

[EDIT] - Oh, it's already out? Nevermind!

I wonder how many months they were behind, clearly they were I'd say the game needed at least 3-6 months more polish.

Expanded inventory is really nice, have 200 slots now.
Uh, does that factor in the potential inventory upgrades as well? 'cause that amount seems like it may trivialize the whole point of an inventory limit.

I'm one of the few that actually likes inventory management, so long as it's balanced right with the progression of the game. But with this and the changes they made to Witcher 3, I'm starting to wonder if—going forward—developers will even bother having inventory thresholds to appease most players. :p

Two pages ago someone said it's already out

Dunno if that's WW tho
Yeah, just re-started the game after a cold reboot, and got the update notification—2.26GB.

That's with the upgrades. No idea what the staring limit is now.

Before the update, what was the max inventory limit?

I'm still relatively early in the game, I think.

Looks like the upgraded the facial shaders as well. The skin doesnt look plastic anymore. good stuff.

Ahh, okay.

I got the upgrade to 65. Just started up the game, and now I'm seeing a limit of 150. o_o

Kinda overboard to me. But I'm in the minority, so whatever. :p

For what it's worth I agree with you. An increase to 100 (for fully upgraded) would've been more than enough.

If I knew they were gonna go overboard like this, I would have never wasted Cryo pods on these upgrades.

Oh well, next playthroughs then.

Yeah, I feel like I wasted my viability points to bother going from 50 to 65. 50 was tight, but 65 has been enough for me since then. 100 would have been MORE than enough for the highest level max for any reasonable person. Though I guess some people just want to loot everything and never sell or discard anything ever. Meh.

Is interplanetary travel faster now?

there seems to be a skip going from planet to planet but no skip for going to another system or the landing/taking off videos which is a shame. i want to skip all of em tbh, especially when you go back and forth to the same places.

on pc the graphics options are now all separated. you have a motion blur on/off toggle and a off/low/medium/high/ultra setting for dof. the framebuffer toggle has been moved from the video to graphic screen too.

i know this is personal preference but i think no dof in conversations looks so much better.

i think this is new but i've noticed you can assign keyboard shortcuts for the dialogue options now.

Great patch so far, only issue is the subtitles pop up instantly after the last line of spoken dialogue even if disabled. They always used to pop up eventually as a reminder, but now they do it instantly. A little annoying, but at least they fixed the stereo in your cabin.

Looks like a good improvement overall. I just need confirmation on improvements to the more game breaking technical bugs and I will pull the trigger on this.

I'm assuming they're all loading screens, then? I mean, I know the planetary launch/landing ones are masking loading for sure. Didn't think the traveling between systems one was but I suppose it could be with the level of detail in those systems.

They fixed a lot of bugs. There are still more found that they stated are going to come in a future patch. So just be patient a little bit more and enjoy a far better Andromeda experience than those at launch.

yeah must be. i was thinking the same.

I really doubt they'll be able to make system and landing/take off transitions skippable, all ME games have had those and they're used to load in assets. Best thing I can see them do is allow you to skip them as soon as the assets are loaded, just like the Nexus station transitions but that time is going to vary depending on how fast your system is.
