Ok. So you people who are in the know, are these more or less than expected for each game?

Here are the latest entry for each series (I'm using Rockman Zero for Rockman ZX)

317,357 Tekken 5 (Namco) (3/31/05) - through Dec 25/05
10,949 Tekken 5 (PlayStation 2 the Best) (Namco) (11/2/05) - through Nov 27/05

256,412 Xenosaga Episode II: Jenseits von Gut und Bose (Namco) (6/24/04) - through Jan 2/05

65,341 Rockman Zero 4 (Mega Man Zero 4) (Capcom) (4/21/05) - through June 26/05

Based on these, Rockman ZX and Xenosaga seem to holding up the best in terms of their predecessors, however, Rockman Zero was a GBA title, whereas Tekken and Xenosaga were both PS2 titles.

I'm not in the know, but X2 sold 250k so X3 start sounds very solid. Tekken 5 did little over 300k so for a portable version it doesn't sound as a bad start.
Rockman ZX start sounds good, Zero was on a decline from 230k to 75k on GBA, so the start is good and it should have legs just like Zero.

 ▼ Xenosaga II 善悪の彼岸 04.06.24 PS2 183,614 30,717 12,073 256,412 71.61 %
 ▼ Tekken 5 05.03.31 PS2 216,566 44,669 18,830 317,357 68.24 %
 ▼ Rockman Zero 02.04.26 GBA 66,980 37,519 18,890 231,166 28.97 %
 ▼ Rockman Zero 2 03.05.02 GBA 53,839 25,283 10,029 158,479 33.97 %
 ▼ Rockman Zero 3 04.04.23 GBA 44,330 22,355 18,264 121,847 36.38 %
 ▼ Rockman Zero 4 05.04.21 GBA 27,596 13,063 10,802 74,354 37.11 %

There'll definitely be a big drop for Xenosaga Episode III compared to Episode II, though. Its sales are going to plummet next week.

Looking at those Zero numbers, this is a very, very good start for ZX, I'd say. It'll probably end up with first week sales comparable to Zero 3, which means it's reversed a downward trend... definitely a promising sign. If it holds longer legs than the Zero games did (thanks to the random and unpredictable DS Effect), then it may end up doing way better, too.

Nothing compared to 440k -> 250k. With 90k on release date, 150k is very likely, and 200k not out of reach when all is said.

Oh, yeah, I'm not saying it'll be a total sales disaster, or that the drop will be as severe as I to II. I'm just saying I think there is definitely going to be a very noticable drop between II and III. I don't think it'll hit 200k, personally.

Well I guess third parties do perform better on the PSP. Cue 5+ more pages!

Seriously.

Mega Man ZX: 25k
Irregular Hunter X: 12k

I think IHX will catch up to ZX in no time flat.

Wow.
New Super Mario Bros beat out all the new games...
And it looks like Tekken DR didn't really get much besides the first day sales.
And Rockman ZX got slightly more, but still not very impressive.

I don't think so... I'd say ZX's numbers are good. It didn't go quite as high as Zero 3, but it was considerably higher than the first week sales for Zero 4. I'd consider that an impressive turnaround given that the series' sales have been in a downward spirla since the first game.

NDS New SMB - 134568
Amazing. It just keeps steamrolling over everything. Is this game going to say #1 until FF3?

PS2 Xenosaga III - 123847
Good launch. Higher than I expected -- not really such a big drop from Episode II's launch sales. I still hold to my prediction that the game's going to absolutely plummet next week, though.

PSP Brave Story - 8238
NDS Magical Vacation - 3161
Mega-ouch for Brave Story, and continued disappointment over Magical Vacation 2's performance. :(

Oh whoops, I only looked at the bolded numbers from your post about the other Zero games. But now I realize those are the LTD's yes?
In which case, yeah it is actually performing strongly.

Wowzer NSMB. Thats like 2.2million now?
Seems like its only drop 20k-ish units from previous week with every chart release in the past weeks.
Next week looks to be about 110k I guess.

Not bad for Tekken: DR.

And MARIO IS GOING TO STOP SELLING AFTER THE FIRST WEEK, LOOK AT ALL THE USED COPIES AVAILABLE.

Wait, no.

MrSardonic

The nerdiest nerd of all the nerds in nerdland
in about 6 weeks time the DS could have three 3 million sellers already - NSMB, ACWW, BT2 o_0

But perhaps those games will slow slightly once FFIII hits...and Pokemon. Jeez, DS is going to have the best hardware and software year Japan has ever seen.

NDS Sudoku - 4653

This game is almost 4 months in the chart (out on 23rd March) and is going to sell over 100k, but anyone noticed...

it's a 3rd party game and is selling more than the 1st party game for PSP, Kazuo

I love you neo.

When was the last time the DS was UNDER 100,000 units, and on top of that, when was the last time it was under 100,000 without shortages?

Just insane numbers for DS/NSMB.

elostyle

Never forget! I'm Dumb!
Quite some momentum the psp got there, a couple grand more each week! Although, DSL still selling at production capacity o_O

Granted, this was in a week where there were shortage, I think, but the sales of the week 8. to 14. of may, the sales were;

DSL 91.895
PSP 27.127
PS2 21.138
GBASP 6.317
DS 3.438
GBM 2.628
Xbox360 1.355
GC 1.069
GBA 40
Xbox 36

Rockman ZX is a non-game. It's a game selling well on the DS, therefore making it a non-game, and it doesn't count as being a third party success.

Since shortages started at the beginning of January you'd have to go back to 11/14-11/20 2005 (65,341) for a <100K week.

Well, X3 and RZX seems to be consistent with 1st day sales but wtf...<50k for Tekken when 50k was 1st day? Taking both as true, it means Tekken is totally sold out or what?

Brave Story numbers are really poor...but its the movie already out?

To really understand what the DS is doing right now, I used the awesome www.vgcharts.com and found the answer to my own question.

I checked through the week to week sales of the big guns to see what the record for consecutive weeks selling 100,000+units is, and the the DS has completly destroyed the prevous record

By how much?

CONSECUTIVE WEEKS SELLING 100,000+ UNITS OF HARDWARE

PS2-8-weeks week92-week99
GBA-7-weeks week88-week94 week1-week7 (Did it twice)
PSP-4-weeks week54-week57
DS-18weeks week66-week83

Now the DS number does NOT include this weeks early numbers so that would make it 19 straight weeks. If you go back before the shortages, it would be 32straight weeks!

Remember now, it is now at 19 consecutive weeks including this one so it could continue for the forseebale future.

I didnt see GB, SNES, or NES numbers but in direct comparison to the other big boys its crazy

19 straight weeks with over 100,000+ sales and its lowest week bieng 108,500 highest bieng 299,000 in the stretch.

CRAZY.
