Media Create Sales 10/8 - 10/14 2007

Absolutely. Amazon is the absolute best indicator of a game's success! Charttrack and NPD should just stop tracking numbers, and use Amazon to make a top 30.

its a mildly intersting way of gauging interest in titles especially before release, not exactly very acurate tho

whats with you people and your obsession with amazon? i see ace combat 6 for 360 is high up there, i'm guessing we should be expecting mario galaxy numbers right?

I personally don't follow Amazon stuff, but it's typically the less casual stuff that sells most on there, which is why you find game like AC6 for 360 up there, but then other games sell better elsewhere and trump those 360 in the MC charts. So, for a game like Wii fit to sell so well on Amazon, only to sell MUCH better than "so well" elsewhere, is remarkable.

you see numbers on Amazon.jp chart ?

a chart without numbers means nothing, so you have to interpretate.
First of all, amazon.jp could be a good indicator about preorders, not sales in long term.
Don't consider limited editions, they are usually higher than normal versions.
Check the chart daily can help you to understand which games are moving up and which ones are moving down.

so if you ignore all the things above, you think people are obsessed by amazon chart.

So hey fellow sales nerds... time to put on your shipped nerd hats. I've been gathering the publically available shipment data for a while, and in anticipation of new financial releases in a few days finally put together some tools for making graphs of them online. Not completely Japanese-sales-related, but anyone who would give a hoot enough to see it before I start using it in a few days when the new data shows up probably hangs in these threads anyway.

Here are a load of example results:
PS2 (old) vs Wii, year one, Japan
Current gen, 2006-2007
X360, NA vs EU, NA launch through today
GameCube vs Xbox
GBA vs DS, worldwide from launches
DS, worldwide and regional breakdowns
Xbox vs X360, Europe

There are more Wiis available than any near-launch home console ever.

You should really new thread this. At least then it will put an end to the "Nintendo is intentionally holding back" arguments.

I'll wait for the threads on the new figures, so at least the numbers are as recent as September 30 rather than June 30. However, by now there are people like speculawyer that argue that being the highest-supplied by a large margin still counts as bad since it hasn't sated worldwide demand.

I find it very amusing that one week of Media Create sales for Kyotaro Nishimura Mystery is higher than both weeks of Famitsu sales.

Also, Sega, please attend me carefully: THERE IS SOMETHING VERY WRONG with your strategy when Seaman is selling more than new Sonic games.

SONY should give up on the PS3 this holiday in Japan and focus on the PS2 and PSP for a few more months, nothing they do now seems to be working... if PSP can comeback strong like it did they can bring the PS3 back in a year or two

I think a lot of PS3 buyers are waiting for the cheaper 40GB version right now.

now you gotta tell me WHY wii rises after last weak weeks.

I don't understand.

Potential Wii buyers get really excited when a hot new PS2 game comes out because they can't wait for the eventual port?

Maybe Wii jumped because of the new Wii Sports ads Sporsk mentioned. Seeing HW sales and Wii Sports entering top10 again....

Anyway, last week PS3 was 8,4k in Famitsu and 12k in MC so I rather wait for both numbers before saying anything (like with DBZ, MGS PO+, Tecmo's game...).

Buying used I presume.

Exactly. I'm just buying discounted software - there's so much older games to buy as a new PSP owner that it makes little sense to pay full price right now :p

Come on Drinky, keep posting that stuff. I think it's actually making the Wii sell more.

:lol

Anyway, I'll wait for media create as last week seemed to show quite a bit of disparity in the numbers. I think Famitsu had PS3 less than 10K but Media Create had it over. Either way, if the PS3 had a recent price drop and the thing barely budged then WTF is going on over there?

For clarification, Sega, the something wrong is NOT that Seaman is outselling Sonic, but that you imbeciles continue to localize awful Sonic games while failing to announced Seaman 2 (still featuring Leonard Nimoy) for Holiday 2007 in the US.

WTF!?!? DS Novel!? Why wuld anyone buy this shitz it's just nother non game DS crappz i hate japan...

100 books for 25 bucks with a nice interface and easily to carry. Fuck you if you think that's a bad deal. This isn't some stupid "4th grader political quiz DS" or "Train your beard in minutes a day". It's a genuinely good idea for a piece of software in my opinion.
