Media Create Sales 2/25 - 3/2

Wow, Brawl's selling great. Let's hope it maintains this form and reaches 2 million.

Family Ski doing very nicely indeed.

Hopefully PES2008 Wii reaches at least 100K. Im glad it didn't fall completely out of the top 10 chart this week.

Yes, they can still sell excellently. I just think they can't be the Wii's absolute best, unless Mario Kart does better than I think it will. (And it could, considering its crazy never-say-die performance on DS.)

I don't think Mario Kart Wii will sell in line with the DS version. Everything seems to sell better on the DS than history would dictate. I'd even bet money that, if a smash game was released for the DS, it would put SSBB's numbers to shame.

nah. Things suited for certain platforms do better, that's why PSP gundam games do better than DS ones. Smash bros is naturally a console game

Do you really need to have it explained to you why a fitness/weight-loss game-peripheral-software-thing designed by Miyamoto's team at Nintendo would sell?

Really?

I still don't understand "gamers'" exasperation towards WiiFit, other than that it uses a video game console for a product that isn't strictly confined to an ordinary video game genre or game type and that it happens to be well made.

Were people this infuriated by that fitness game that came out on the Xbox a few years ago? Or is the problem just the fact that Nintendo figured out how to do it both well and successfully?

WiiFit phenomenal success is an excellent thing, because it establishes the wiiboard as a viable peripheral for other games. In other genres.

All reports say the wiiboard is a great piece of hardware, with a pinpoint precision.
So its potential is not to be dismissed. Plus WiiFit is more original than 80% of the titles released this year on the market. It's a reason enough for me to invest in it.

great for NIS.

jump in atlus :D

While it's impossible to know for sure without the cost data from the game's development, advertising, and revenue, Disgaea 3 most likely hasn't done nearly as well as the first two in profit for NIS. The sales are tracking below the first game's, and the development costs are almost assuredly significantly higher. You honestly want Atlus to jump into a mess like that?

Great to see Smash do so well.
Even greater to see Etrian Odyssey 2 hang in there. That young series deserves all the love it gets, and then some.

Why would the development costs be significantly higher?

And I think the price is in fact higher. And how much did the first one sell in 1 month?

It's actually pretty awesome. Scales that measure the stuff it does are around 50-100 dollars. So it's nice to get that + games involving the board.

I believe that from the known Famitsu data (weekly top 30s, monthly top 50s, yearly top 100s etc.) total Wii software sales have now exceeded total PSP software sales.

If that's the case, they should be already planning a PS2 port ala Gundam Musou Special.

7140 yen vs. 7140 yen

I'm not going to tell you which is which.

93K and selling almost twice as much in its fourth week. Disgaea 2 was 132K by its fourth week.

By my numbers, PSP is still 671K ahead. It's an inevitability, though.

Captain, just one question : where is the 360 version of DMC4 in this list ? It surely sold more than 15'000 units.

So it took the monstrous hybrid of Gundam and Musou to unseat Smash Bros... interesting.
Good numbers for Soma Bringer, more than I think a few people were anticipating.
Winning Eleven managed to live another week in the Top 10. Wow.

ELSPA has been doing this for months now. I think they just want to avoid getting in trouble with Famitsu for posting these numbers, so they leave out a few random games. Take a look at the Top 50s from early last year (actually 50 games) and then look at the ones later in the year. The Top 100 for 2007 was 99 games. :p

I really don't get why people would be sad that Wii Fit would outsell Smash Brothers. Wii is a massively diverse machine here now (it's the TV guide, now, too), and the concern about Wii Fit is like a PS2 owner worrying that 'Bridget Jones' Diary' on DVD outsold GTA3.
(I'm pretty sure this was aimed at me since the 2D mention was in there later. >_>) Again, I'm not trying to cut it down to one game versus one game here. It's more that, because of the history of the series, I think SSBB is a probable representation of the upper sales limit that gamers' games can ever reach on Wii, just as SSBM was for Gamecube. So it's not so much that SSBB isn't high enough as that (I believe) every* gamer's game after it will likely be lower than whatever mark it finally ends up at. However, that mark should be quite a bit higher than its current point.

*(Possible exceptions: Mario Kart, which I think I mentioned; Mario Tennis, if it saw a precedent-destroying boost from crossover fans of titles like Wii Sports or Mario & Sonic; Dragon Quest X when talking Japan-only, if the series doesn't stay on DS or wait for next gen after DQIX.)

Fuu

Formerly Alaluef (not Aladuf)
I wonder if Soma Bringer's sales will have much of an impact on Nintendo's decisions about localizing it or not.

I mean, they may be already not considering bringing it to western shores at all.
