Wow, I can't believe the DS has outsold the PS2 by a million units already. Now all it needs to do is outsell the Game Boy + Game Boy Color combo to become the best selling games machine of all time in Japan.

Bangai-O didn't sell much after day one, either. Doesn't shock me, I saw many second-hand copies in Akihabara on Monday. I think people are turning the game over fast.

Pretty horrible weekend numbers for many titles...Pokemon and Deca Sporta on the other hand expanded greatly to their already very good first day numbers, I wonder whats the word of mouth with Deca Sporta (thought it'd be bad seeing famitsu review and amazon 2-out-of-5 stars rating).

Maybe, but the last time this was brought up we had a pretty lengthy conversation about the two being combined or not so I played safe. Besides if it beats the two combined, there's absolutely no way to argue that! (from my understanding it's already outsold either of them singularly)

Actually, Nintendo routinely combines them and considers them one platform. I wouldn't personally though, they have different chipsets... it's like considering SMS/GG or GC/Wii one platform in my eyes.

MHP2 total is wrong, previous total was 1669000, thus with last week numbers it should be 1,677,000. I wonder if it'll reach Mario Kart 64 (1,711,661), biggest seller ever on a 2nd (or worse) position console.

That explains alot. All videos i´ve seen so far made me lough. It looked just too bad. All Ys games are mediocre but the DS versions looked like complete failure.

Deca Sports has good legs it seems. SimCity DS 2 will likely be one of EA's biggest success in Japan.
Tales of Rebirth, Ninja Gaiden and Bangai-O-Spirits disappoint. (Ninja Gaiden in particular: WTF is wrong with you Japan??)

Yes, as a matter of fact. I laid out a math bomb on the first page of the thread.--although inexplicably I used the wrong numbers. I'll re-write now:

The software spike around Christmas will be harder than the hardware spike, however, so even assuming a summer Wii sales collapse, it's possible the Christmas bump will even out sales such that the drought never happened in relative terms.

Are we waiting on the translations of 21, 24, 26 or are they just not available?

And it's good to see Time Hollow opening up well after a slow first day. I know someone already said it's been listed on an Aus release list, but a strong performance in Japan can only help matters!

By the way, that Pokémon Ranger start seems stronger than the first game...or is it my imagination? Anyone care to confirm, please?

By Famitsu numbers, PSP YTD is almost 200k lower than by Media Create numbers, while Wii and DS are both higher. Media Create seem to have overtracked PSP and Famitsu seem to have undertracked it, and they both might be adjusting for it now.
