Code:
METAL GEAR V SOLID GROUND ZEROES
		PS3	PS4	360
MEDIA-CREATE	119,615 91,903 ?
DENGEKI 135,582 91,050 3,180
FAMITSU 151,300	100,278 ~3,500

Funny how Dengeki is right in the middle with the PS3 version (16k away of each). I guess we'll be seeing different drops next week as they adjust sales.

30k a week for non holiday weeks is not mediocre. That (with the holiday bumps) would put yearly sales at 1.5-1.8 million. I mean compared to past generations that is mediocre, but looking at the current Japanese gaming industry I would call that decent.

But what else are we going to compare it to?

Unless want to tell me Blackberry should be celebrating their sales because the market for smartphones with keyboard has shrunk, but they're still the king.

30k is mediocre, period.

And the PS2 and GBA comparison, lol...

is it bad that I can't tell whether you're talking about the PSVita or PS4?

I was talking about PS4. PSV doing 30k week is mediocre.

Just for clarity was referring to PS4. I mean looking at the release schedule for PS4 I would say having an average 30k would be decent. First year of course.

Yeah. Wii greatly inflated the selling power of Nintendo's franchises.

I think software is doing worse on WiiU than Gamecube. Zelda will sell worse, DK has sold worse, Pikmin has sold worse and 3D mario has sold worse. Really the only franchise I expect a better performance is MK only because the series became insanely popular after Wii and I'm sure that increased brand awareness.

I....don't expect a better performance from Mario Kart either
Why would it buck the trend, when the audience that was there for it during the Wii days are gone?

also DK's incredibly slow march to 100k continues, what's Pikmin 3's LTD again?

will it ever stop

Those situations are not comparable. Kart sales on the GC weren't that great and the title is probably the only title that people have been waiting for the console at all. It's already eight on the comgnet preorders with two months in advance and Nintendo is heavily pushing the game. I don't think Comgnet matters much, but it shows that people wants the game. That never happened with any other wiiu game.

It's not going to do Wii numbers, but there's a real possibility that it will outsell Double Dash (820k ltd). Mario 3D World will probably do 600k when all it's said and done and it never had that big of a push and hype.

Also, top 50 of Media Create is there. Taiko wii u is back. eeeee.

....eh well to be fair I was thinking more worldwide in this case
but I guess?
honestly I wouldn't be surprised if many here overestimate MK8 anyway though

So, can we this week look at 30k as a good standard week for PS4? I remember people being against my claim last week.
Week over week it is more evident to me that PS4 is stabilizing well in Japan

No, because the next retail release is... July? We saw how badly the Wii u struggled with no releases. If you think the PS4 is an exception, well. We will see.

I would agree. Vita sales are pretty healthy, especially considering the fact that the system's lineup in Japan has no real heavy hitters.

I know it's still early, but it will be fascinating to watch how Nintendo handles their next generation handheld, especially with the probably lack of direct competition. Sony most likely won't invest in a new handheld considering it would be worthless in the west, but at the same time, they seem to have a fanbase in Japan that is probably somewhat profitable. It seems unlikely they release a handheld/phone hybrid, and even if they did it doesn't seem like it would get the level of support a dedicated handheld would.

Edit: I see you were talking about the PS4. Still, I don't see 30+ a week for Vita mediocre. It's decent, although I guess it's kind of mincing words.

As for the PS4, it would be pretty amazing stabilizing above 20k. The Japanese lineup is horrendous going forward for a while, so I don't know who is going to continue to spend so much money on the system.

I'm confused, how is staying at 30K for the one week when MGS: GZ released for it is called stabilizing? It's more the question of what will happen in the coming weeks when there are basically no new releases for the PS4.

Looks like One Piece Unlimited World Red is releasing on June 12th in Japan for Wii U, PS3, Vita, etc.

All of people buying J stars make me sick. Every single one of you lol

What's wrong with J-stars? I've played the DS games (mostly Ultimate) and liked them quite a bit. J-Stars Victory looks like a 3D version of that on a console, which seems like a pretty big step up imo.

Feels like they can keep the system going for quite a while without it feeling outdated.

I don't think they're similar at all, the DS one is like Smash Bros whilst Victory is like Ninja Storm or Budokai Tenkaichi.

lol too bad I just ordered one =). Most impressions from people so far that I read are pretty good. There are some flaws and balancing issue, but the game still has some depth in it.

I bet it has trucked it's way to 150k. This years version should do great.

Next week Natural Doctrine comes, then FF14

ok, just 2 games in a month, but it's better than nothing

May actually has 3 games planned, June has 4 games... maybe in December we will have almost a dozen game released in a month ? :D

Humm.. I dont know, but i hope so. I guess se will fins out next year when famitsu releases a new top 1000. If banco dont release a sequel, there may be a chance that taiko wiiu will see a resurgence at the end of the year too.

I have to say this game is quite good. The first taiko to feature characters in 3d which made for some new clothes and there is a new dlc with some songs every month. Banco support has been pretty good.

But i think the last ones on the Wii were better. Wiiu version had few modes and ive always liked playing those multiplayer moldes with my girlfriend. Pass the baton is nice for a couple of minutes, but the last ones had real fun games.

This one feels a little cheap compared to the last ones, but for the first in the system its Alright. Its taiko after all, so its a good game.

Also, one piece in June 12? I know the wiiu is an afterthough for those releases, but i think putting every single game of theirs on the same month is linda crazy. Since its after mario kart, theres even a chance that they get caught on the hype and do well. Who knows.

What do you mean by "every release in June"? What other games are Namco are releasing around that time? Also, putting a game after Mario Kart makes sense. If you are a new Wii U owner (Mario Kart should increase sales that week at least), or went out to buy Mario Kart, there's a chance you may look into another game too. By being the new game on the shelf, maybe folks would check the game out.

It's not like Ninja Storm or the Sparking series aside from having a 3D arena. It's a lot closer to Battle of Z and Gundam VS. if there has to be a comparison. Really fun game once you get the hang of it.

Considering how fast mobile technology has been advancing nowadays, Nintendo shouldn't have a problem making their next handheld much more powerful than PS Vita for cheaper.

Unless they add another useless gimmicky stuff that cost fucktons of money and make other part of its hardware compensate for it, yes they could make it stronger and cheaper than Vita.

I seriously doubt Iwata wouldn't chase after another gimmick to be added to the device.
