Media Create Sales: Week 17, 2013 (Apr 22 - Apr 28)

I'd imagine the used market is flooded with copies.

Digital probably effects these sorts of releases too I'd suspect. "Best of" boxes are hideous which sort of ruins the selling point of having retail copies for display. I'd like to think that Gravity Rush is still selling....

What? So because the retail boxart looks "bad", one would go digital? Wouldn't they just go and buy a used copy with a "good" boxart?

yes, but Vita games are priced high, so used copy prices are high too
a 2nd hand Senran Kagura copy is over 4,500yen, consider you can buy a brand new 3DS game such as Luigi or TomoCore for 4,000yen

i think game price is too high for Vita, after the price cut hw started selling well, but software not yet, except for Soul Sacrifice and Muramasa, which are priced 4,500yen, similar to 3DS games
asking 6,000yen for an handheld game is too much imo (and ask 8,000yen for Dragon's Crown is crazy, absolutely crazy)

another point : Vita the Best prices are different, starting from 3,900yen (Disgaea 3) to 2,950yen (Katamari and Ridge Racer), isn't it a little confusing ?

15-17k is well, now.

15-17k is well, now.
Your comment made me go check past 3DS sales. It used to do 20k+ and it was considered a failure (rightfully so).

3DS has sold below 20k for 4 weeks. Vita has sold below 20k for 56 weeks, 3 of these after the price cut.

Looking at this, I'm not sure if Sony is happy, at least we know Nintendo wouldn't be.

How can Sony be happy with 15-17k units on a weekly basis after such a big price-cut and likely its most pushed 2013 release?

I even think it will do under 15k the week after Golden Week.

Well since Sony basically kept the PSP alive from Japan, I can't see how they would be. I guess we will know when we see their projections.

I even think it will do under 15k the week after Golden Week.
Considering how sporadic the software schedule is, it could be back near 10k by mid May.

Wow, Bandai Namco just announced a PreCure for 3DS, my god, they are KILLING it on 3DS with a flood of anime/licensed games, unreal.

http://precure-game.channel.or.jp/dokidoki/

I do wish we knew the devs of these, I severely doubt they'd be doing all of these in-house, especially with the sheer amount there are.

The current season of Precure is doing really well in Japan so this could do better than expecting from a game in the series with little girls(and some adults).

It's no secret that Famitsu tracks Sony/MS systematically lower than MC and all Nintendo stuff higher.

Actually from an historical perspective, the opposite has generally been true. MC has a history of tracking Nintendo and mainstream games higher, and Famitsu leans more core-oriented with a history of having to go back and artificially increase some Nintendo games in order to more closely match what was actually sold.

03./04. [3DS] Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon <ACT> (Nintendo) {2013.03.20} (¥4.800) - 47.201 / 628.699 <80-100%> (-4%)

Will Luigi hit 700k LTD next week?

Tomodachi Collection edges to #14 on the all-time digital chart. Just two places behind NSMB2 (The Dragon Quest card battle in-between). (The only other full-price title is Animal Crossing at #1)

Edit:- Tomodachi is now 13!

I think it might have a chance. Someone was saying loudly that Luigi would have been overshadowed by Tomodachi, because Nintendo is advertising only this game. Actually, it seems Luigi is hanging on quite well on its own, and it's not being overshadowed at all.

without games ? yes, it is, Mr.IhateVitawithallmyenergy

Wii U is selling just 5-7k less on a weekly basis, but I doubt you ever said it's doing quite well. Also, this week Vita didn't have a big new release, but the new entries in the Top 30 (Famitsu) accounted for over 50k units of software. Just saying.

PS: I don't hate Vita, it's not a person.

Nintendo has cut down Wii U marketing to zero now because of the new marketing campaign starting this summer.

But the Wii U sales for month 08 - 12 will be very high when all the announced big games will be released.

A question: which is the next exclusive big game for Vita (>100k units)?
Why does it have to be exclusive? 100k+ is good news regardless, non-exclusivity just means it's likely to lose sales to the other platform.

Anyway, going by your criteria, I guess the only real options are Over My Dead Body (its predecessor did well over 100k on the PSP), or Mind 0 (if it successfully manages to tap into the Persona fanbase).

But seriously though how the hell is Namco having so much trouble with God Eater 2. Did they decide to skip the Summer because of Monster Hunter and just launch this fall. It's been 2 years since it was announced. I wonder what Namco is actually expecting since the PSP will basically be dead when it launches.

Vita resurrection. So please stop saying "wait for next week"

The situation really isn't that different.

Yeah so today we learned if you makes excuses for everything, everything sold well. Wii U is selling well with no games and a high price. PS3 sold well for 600 dollars. Nintendo is doing well for a toy company.

Edit:- Tomodachi is now 13!

It bears mentioning that TC made the top 20 much faster and also climbs faster than NSMB2 did. NSMB2 took weeks, almost months, to even get into the top 20 and slowly made its way to 11, its highest position. At that time, many of the current top 10 titles like AC, Denpa Ningen no RPG 2 and Charisou DX weren't even out yet so NSMB2 was facing weaker competition. Since these have overtaken NSMB2 its rise was stopped eventually, with it now at 12.

It's safe to say that a good amount of consumers prefer digital for games like AC and TC, to the extent that they can sell on the same level as the best selling cheap budget DD only titles.

Even if retail will remain unchallenged for the time being, win margins on DD titles like these will make the growth in this market segment a focus for all players.

Because I identify system sellers (so games able to push hardware sales) in exclusives, not in multi-platform games, or porting. We have already seen how Senran Kagura and Soul Sacrifice were able, along with the price cut, to push the hardware to decent numbers. I don't think multi-platform can do the same.

Anyway, it was also to show how poor Vita line-up is if it has to rely on MindZero...

GEIMIN hasn't liked it in the past, when the full list is posted. Can just go to GEIMIN's site, if you don't mind using Google Translate to find a title.
