noshten's predictions depends entirely on supply at this point, thats the only thing holding back everything from happening, the demand is definitely there

is it really crazy see exceptional performance from nintendo when the switch is already showing that potential and it has happened before

there is just no way nintendo is only producing another 10m for the rest of the year, they'd be stupid not to double that after everything thats happened

Who the hell says 'couple' when they mean more than a couple?
girls + food

when someone says "ill be a minute" do they literally mean one minute?

Definition of a couple
informal
1
: two or a few (of something) Can you give me a couple more examples? This one costs a couple dollars less than that one. —In informal U.S. English, a couple can be used like a couple of I lost interest in the book after a couple chapters. We met a couple years ago.
2
: two or a few “How many drinks have you had?” “Oh, just a couple.”
https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/a couple

I don't know why people think it means exactly 2.

Who the hell says 'couple' when they mean more than a couple?

It depends entirely on how you are using the word and what you are counting. Rarely when we are counting people does couple mean more than 2 people as it is usually synonymous with a pair, and when we are counting small things, rarely does it mean exactly 2 and is much closer to a few.

If someone asked you for a couple of chips, and you counted out exactly 2, they would think you were stingy. If they asked you to wait a couple of minutes, and after 2 you told them you were done waiting, they would find you impatient, etc.

Famitsu reveals early scans of info for Fire Emblem Warriors. Original protagonists (male/female), Sion and Lian, and Marth are also coming.

Feel free to make a thread. Don't have time right now.

Can MH XX Switch ver. beat the PS3 remaster? Or it will fall between the 2 remasters? (I don't see it selling less than the Wii U title)

Monster Hunter Freedom 3 HD Ver. (PS3) - 282.960 / 441.375
Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate (Wii U) - 110.149 / 224.986

And just for fun, the numbers of the main MH console titles:

Monster Hunter (PS2) - 120.640 / 288.559
Monster Hunter 2 (PS2) - 368.057 / 570.651
Monster Hunter 3 (Wii) - 582.548 / 1.077.273

As you can see the patern indicates that the next MH console title will have more than 1 million units sold FW :3

So City Shrouded in Shadow for Vita was just cancelled. That leaves two remaining games published by Bamco for the system with Digimon later this year and an Otome visual novel game this week. We already know from an interview that the Digimon game will be the last for the system too. Is this the end of the line for Bamco Vita support?

I think it will do somewhere in the same ball park as the PS3 game. MHXX is less popular than Tri G and Portable 3Rd but that will be balanced out by being portable.

Anything notably higher will speak to the enthusiasm surrounding Switch.

i think a lot of MH fans holded out on MHXX due to a possible switch port. they specifically said in their MH direct that they will not talk about a switch game so capcom kinda knew that was going to happen too

They should give them to Media Create so we can see the difference with Famitsu polls

Oops, forgot to reply.

I'd rather have separate charts from Famitsu until Nintendo also starts sharing digital sales, to be honest. Digital estimates don't really matter if we can get actual sales.

What you're referring to is the usual "no mobile / Switch" games notice Nintendo put on all their Nintendo Direct pages. They weren't specifically talking about MH, and it wasn't from Capcom either.

I'd say that Kojima's answers to interviews during the launch event, where he basically confirmed MHXX for Switch, is a bigger sign they knew about fans potentially holding out for it.

I thought it would've been the end of the line after Super Robot Wars V really, wasn't expecting Digimon to happen.

I suspect they may have another anime-cash-in or two left in them, but maybe not.

My point was that assuming Nintendo is *never* going to provide their data, seeing actual sales side by side with the polled numbers would get us to know better how accurate or not they are >.>

I think that's low. Switch is a portable. Nintendo should be building supply starting in July.

If Capcom was happy with these type of sales for there 3DS --> HD ports the WiiU would have gotten MH4U as well. I think they expect at least twice as much up to 1m from the Switch version.

http://gematsu.com/2017/05/honey-parade-games-retail-switch-title-two-ps4-titles-development

During the interview, Takaki mentioned that other than Shinobi Refle: Senran Kagura, the studio has another title for Switch in development that makes use of the system’s functionalities. This other title will be a packaged release, unlike Shinobi Refle, which is an digital-only release, and will also make use of Switch’s HD rumble functionality.

Additionally, Honey∞Parade Games is working on two PlayStation 4 titles. The first title may be able to be released this season. The second title is relatively big and is planned for the next term.

Seems like they'be transitioned to ditch the vita and focus on switch and PS4.

Hmm it actually sounds like Switch replacing 3DS and PS4 replacing Vita because from the sounds of it they are still making exclusives. Seems weird to me personally.

What's low? PS3 remaster numbers? Because I don't think so. It's good to remember that the PS3 game was a remaster of the most succesful MH title to date (that sold triple the actual XX numbers on 3DS) so it would be difficult for Switch to beat these numbers.

Cross save could counteract the fact that the game is somewhat recent but selling more than 400.000 should be already a success for Capcom.

I could be way off, absolutely, but Switch is a different ballgame for Monster Hunter than PS3/Wii.

Yeah, Switch is not a traditional home console so it's difficult to make a 100% comparison. How much do you think it's going to sell? (in the 500-750.000 ballpark? closer to 1 million? more?)

I'm going to predict a floor of 500K and a ceiling of 1M.-ish. it really is hard to predict. Shrug.

I think MHXX Switch will pass a million over time. It might get close to the 3DS original even, the big limiting factor is going to be the supply constrained userbase.

I think it will do around 350-400k at launch and end around 800-900k. I think the big question is for those that are mainly console users that bought Switch for both portability and stationary will buy this. While I think it's rather small there must be at least 50-100k from that group that could potentially buy MonHun XX on Switch

Seeing WSJ report bring both positive and negative points on Switch lol.

The positive, it seems the Jp market really like Switch there.^^
Quote from WSJ:

Some families are buying multiple units, treating them more like smartphones than living-room consoles because of the Switch’s portability.

Yukiko Amakawa, a 36-year-old homemaker in Fukuoka, Japan, said her family of four owns three Switches—one for herself, one for her husband to play on the train while commuting and a third for their children, a 6-year-old boy and 3-year-old girl.

While the negative......

It seems the stock issues is going to be worst as Ninty is going to face head on with Apple right now for that production stock. this is not going to end well.

That's what Kimishima was talking about during the previous investor meeting:

Q6 I'd like to know as much as you can share about the basis for your short and medium-term sales forecasts of Nintendo Switch. In particular, are you expecting 10 million hardware shipments during this fiscal year because that's the number your total anticipated demand in each region led you to, or are you looking at your software lineup for this period and predicting how much hardware you think you can sell? Also, you have been quoted in the media as saying that you want sales of Nintendo Switch to match the Wii sales. Should we take that to mean that your sales target for hardware is going to be 100 million units? If so, then do you envision Nintendo Switch selling not just one per household, but one per person?

A6 Kimishima:

We set this fiscal year's 10 million shipment forecast for Nintendo Switch based on the fact that we were able to ship 2.74 million units during the last fiscal year, which was well above our initial forecast of 2 million units, combined with the response our sales offices around the world have reported from retailers and consumers about the software we will be releasing during this period.
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was released today and although we did not cover it when creating our sales plans, it has gotten especially positive reviews. Feedback from consumers at our ARMS and Splatoon 2 preview events has been positive, as well. We have also gotten good feedback about 1-2-Switch, which has already been released, and offers consumers a new gaming experience that takes advantage of the unique strengths of Nintendo Switch. All this together gives me the sense that Nintendo Switch is going to outperform our initial expectations.
For us, being able to reach an installed base of more than 10 million units is fundamental to creating a strong business in a number of different ways. Shipping 10 million hardware units this fiscal year, as planned, will give publishers and the rest of our business partners a sense that the future of Nintendo Switch is more promising. This is another part of the reason why we are planning to ship 10 million units this fiscal year.
The truth is we want to raise the installed base of Nintendo Switch up to the same level as Wii. As we mentioned during our presentation, Nintendo Switch in America had the fastest start of any Nintendo hardware, despite launching in March. In the video game business, it's important for consumers to feel that a sales momentum is going to grow, and we are setting a standard with Nintendo Switch to release a continuous string of major software titles from now on. And if our sales go according to our plan this fiscal year, we will be able to see Nintendo Switch gaining the momentum in which it can approach relative parity with Wii afterwards.
Plus, considering that Nintendo Switch is a home console video game system that you can take with you on the go so you can play anytime, anywhere, with anyone, we think there will be households that feel as though one is not really enough. This is another point that drives us to match the scale of Wii's popularity with Nintendo Switch.

As long as Nintendo hits their 10 mil unit goal for the fy they will be fine. Of course they seem to be aiming for more given stock issues and the potential for demand to fade, 10 mil sold seems like a good target for year 1.

10 million would be bad if u ask me actually. It would mean....4 million for Japan this whole year i guess? I can't see Nintendo shipping more to Japan that US when the demand is also crazily high there.

They are targeting 20 million per the report, even with supply limits due to competition they are still going to vastly outstrip ten million. The runs that Nintendo has scheduled will be wiggled/expanded and increased for capacity over what the previous runs would have been.

The question now is not "10 million", its where about between 15-20 million parts they will be able to source this year.

There's a bit of a misconception from that report. They have competition so they can't just straight up and easily pull 20 million parts, but they will still greatly increase the 10 mil base.

Why would they anticipate an enhanced port from the start? I think you're overestimating the perception of the casual players here (I doubt a lot of people were following Capcom statements were they suggested an enhanced port later).

Anyway, I think being close to a million is a very optimistic scenario but we'll see! I'm not good at sales predictions unfortunately :|
