Toukiden 2 has done so badly Koei Tecmo just released a F2P version in an attempt to give it an online population.

Im sure Monster Hunter PS4 will be going full open world if it's real (with it apparently being more western market in mind)
yeah, same, the PS4 monster hunter will be a westernized open world action rpg, call me naive if you want but I don't think a hunting game as traditional as it is will sell on the ps4

you mean Pokemon Stars on PS4, right? cause that would make both Capcom and Nintendo 3rd party to Sony hardware. Otherwise, I don't know how MH game on PS4 (a 3rd party game) is the same as a Pokemon game on Nintendo hardware (a 1st party game).
inb4 people arguing about Pokemon being a third party IP

I am rather amazed what my hypothetical "what software is left that could be consider "big"" turned into a mess. Like, context?

FF7r, kh3, resident evil, persona 5 and many more, All of those together do not equal the amount of MH5 speculation in media create threads. I can't speak for the rest of GAF but within these threads it's MH5 every week.

That said I also find both annoying. I hate when I read "I'll get Persona 5 Golden on Switch", or when a new game is announced the first post being "Switch? When?" as if it is inevitable.

I like comments like "It would make financial sense for Persona 5 to be on the Switch because... [Logical reason]" or "For a MH5 to be PS4 exclusive it would need to sell [number] to make up for the lost sales of a Switch version, Capcom could do this by [logical reason]"

That kind of discussion is both useful and interesting.
Most people going "switch?" have been revealed to be just a few people looking to make nintendo fans look worse then they are

ARMS Japanese commercial:

https://youtu.be/cMCnsYOwMa4

Surprised no one posted it since it was up for 8 hours.

I mean I liked the US one but Japanese one is so much better.

Heck even the UK ones are much better. What's up with NOA?

Also the ads look great.

I didn't like the UK one because I'm certain it's reused footage from the initial Switch ads for the console launch.

Edit: Found it.

https://youtu.be/S1r369yv2Uk

40 seconds into the video, they reused footage from an older commercial which is why I don't really like it.

So I get that Sony initially paid for god eater and toukiden, etc. To come to vita and ps4, but how come they don't just bring the games over to the 3DS where they know where the audience is, whether it increases sales or not of those framchises, at the very least the potential is higher

Yes, of course. Every game in ps consoles is paid by Sony.

God forbid some developers dared to make games that are not limited by low2000s hardware and 240p resolution

Sony never paid anything for God Eater.
And by your logic everything should have been 3DS which is something that was also discussed ad nauseam years ago.

Dengeki charts haven't been posted yet, have they?

http://dengekionline.com/elem/000/001/531/1531608/

- Resident Evil 7 at 326k
- Shingeki no Kyojin Vita staying in top 50 now at 145k LTD
- Playstation VR Worlds just came back from the 110th rank, maybe some PS VR restock this week ?

I'm not saying they have to as skip vita, just that I wonder why they limited themselves to vita.

With the Sony paid thing that's whay I heard because everyone was saying it at the time, didn't know it was merely a rumor

Alright so this is just a basic question but besides monster hunter will there be any third parties on Switch with a 100k+ debut this year?
Also Bomberman at 97k on Degenki so mid June it should be passed 100k which is really great for the series.

I think it was just assumed Sony started making deals to retain second tier hunting games like God Eater, Toukiden and PSO after they lost Monster Hunter. It makes some sense at least.

We don't have confirmation though. Likewise Nintendo never paid for Monster Hunter as far as we know either.

.....isn't that the argument many makes on the only reason why MH come to 3DS lol.^^

I do remember that Toukiden does get showcase during Vita's hunting machine push as one of the big game that are launching on Vita though.^^

That would be a better point if Toukiden and God Eater 2 weren't released on PSP.

Main Memory: 32MB
Embedded DRAM: 4MB

Well from what we vaguely know of at this point... probably not.

Dragon Quest X could. It has had solid first weeks on quite a few platforms and almost hit 100k on Wii U. The Switch could help it, but it is also releasing on PS4 before it is on Switch and that could eat into sales:
23 Dragon Quest X: Inishie no Ryuu no Denshou Online 97.324 125.030 125.030 0 Square Enix 30/04/2015 ***Wii U***
125 Dragon Quest X Online 59.053 166.436 166.436 0 Square Enix 04/09/2014 ***3DS***

Taiko did have two titles debut over 100k on Wii:
23 Taiko no Tatsujin Wii 114.610 658.783 Bandai Namco 11/12/2008
25 Taiko no Tatsujin Wii: Super Deluxe Edition 102.437 654.842 Bandai Namco 29/11/2012
34 Taiko no Tatsujin Wii: Dodoon to 2 Daime! 29.439 430.096 Bandai Namco 19/11/2009
43 Taiko no Tatsujin Wii: Definitive Edition 25.343 338.281 Bandai Namco 23/11/2011
54 Taiko no Tatsujin Wii: Minna de Party 3-Yome! 26.855 270.672 Bandai Namco 02/12/2010

Minecraft physical releases haven't had high openings, they have been sustained on legs.
1 Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition 36.593 1.334.921 978.267 356.654 SCE 19/03/2015
4 Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition 5.680 488.659 211.489 277.170 SCE 03/12/2015
8 Minecraft: Wii U Edition 22.676 503.827 321.015 182.812 Microsoft 17/12/2015

A non-half-assed Tales of game that isn't a port potentially could, but the likelihood of that happening is low.

Nothing else I can think of really has potential to hit the 100k debut mark that we know of currently. There is still plenty of time for titles to be announced for the holidays though. Dragon Quest XI Switch would do over 100k if it is released this year, obviously.

Dragon Quest X Wii player will get Switch version for free (DL), so I doubt it.

ps. PS4 version's sub is overprice and you can play at 60fps even on toaster laptop, let get that out of the picture.

think it makes more sense to compare taiko to the handheld versions, unless the switch is going to lose its portability then i dont see why it wont sell comparable to previous handheld iterations

Two copies sold? That's not a bomb guys, stop trolling!!!

I think the reason Taiko Wii sold more than 100k is because the console attracted many casual customers at that time, and Taiko is one of those games that suit them, easy to pick up and play.

I could be wrong though

Handheld entries typically come out during the summer. If Taiko comes out this year it will be a November release. That's why you can only really compare it to the home console versions.

Currently the Switch is 110K behind 3DS launch aligned

If we expect 25-30K for weeks without big release, 70K for Arms we won't see the Switch overtaking 3DS until Splatoon 2 launch.

The main problem is that Nintendo went in with much more confidence when they released the 3DS, they had the production capabilities to back numbers up already. For the Switch they didn't expect it to do so well(even though they should at least have known that it would be incredibly successful in Japan at least, well perhaps they factored that in but didn't expect it to fare that well in Europe and the US too).

Now they have the problem of having a high demand all over the globe for the system, the 3DS didn't sell as well outside Japan(and still isn't). If we look at the current 3DS numbers we see something that might be happening because of the Monster Hunter announcement: 3DS is going down in sales, even below the PS4. I guess Japan already made up their mind and the Switch will be their system of choice in the long run, here's to hoping Nintendos increased production efforts will soon kick in. Shipping only 27k per week, per territory is not nearly enough, japan alone could need 100k+ per week...

one question, how many total 3ds units were sold up until a week before Monster Hunter 4 launch?
edit: and 3Ultimate also?
