Dragon's Dogma is showing strong second week hold. It has a chance to reach 500K which is far better than I originally expected (350-400K).

Level 5 have lost their midas touch.

First that debacle called Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch and this year their two new IP's have performed really bad. In fact Girls RPG: Cinderella Life and Guild01 are practically on par with their Professor Tago's Mind Exercises series.

On one hand, I like Level 5's effort to try new IPs and find the next big thing. On the other hand, they have failed to achieve that goal so far. I would say Nino Kuni was the closest sure fire hit they would have but somehow they botched it. Right now only Danbōru Senki is a decent success.

Looking at planned future releases, Time Travellers and Gundam AGE are not likely to become breakout hits. Fantasy life is promising but also not likely. The only wild card would be Youkai Watch since we still don't know much about it.

If FE isn't announced tonight at the E3 show, I will be very sad. The success in Japan is phenomenal.

Fantasy Life has some potential... Knowing Level-5, though, it will be released the same day of Animal Crossing.

I hope this doesn't reflect the sales of Ace Attorney x Layton. =/

Layton 5 did around 300k in Japan IIRC, with the cross over appeal/push it'll probably do at least that well, maybe 400k lifetime.

3DS sales will probably stay high with Pokemon B&W2 coming out end of the month.

I thought Layton 5 did a little more than that like in 350K-400K range.

Clearly Sony's stellar backing of the Vita at E3 is responsible for it's huge jump in sales.

I mean, who wouldn't be excited for a 30-second clip of Vita's version of AC3 and a screenshot of the logo for Call of Duty?

Clearly Japanese have invented time machine if they knew from last week what Sony would show at E3.

It's time for my large graph! (sorry low res peeps)

Vita's increase of under 900 units is promising, if not statistical noise. Next week's numbers are what really matter!

3DS sales DOUBLED from the previous week! For a remake, the Dragon Quest name still means business.

Almost missed this in all the E3 hustle and bustle. Great opening as expected for DQM, a remake of one of my favorite games ever. I wish it would get localized :(

I really don't think there's much reason to doubt that it'll make it here.

I wonder if P4 will sell well enough to claim #1 next week, or if DQ will still maintain that lead

I expect DQ to have strong legs. Seems like a game hardcore DQ fans (older fans from the original version) really will love, and word of mouth to the more casual DQ gamers or new kids with 3DS's might feed into

I really hope DQM comes out here. that was my #1 hope for e3 (a DQM localization announcement)

We won't get news of a localization this year, if it's coming, we'll probably hear about it next e3 (just like DQM:J2)

Well if the game has the same kind of legs as DQM:J2 it should have a second week around 150-200k (unless it has shortages issues) so I don't think P4G will be able to beat it. But who knows...

360 might accidentally creep up on wii one of these days

I would say around november when the WiiU launches xbox 360 will probably start to also fade away a bit just like the ps3. I wouldn't be suprised in a 25% drop in sales for PS3 and XBOX 360 and Wii across the board once the Wii U is released in October/November but in perspective it might only end up being around 10,000 units across the board per week though.

3D Land is on trajectory to overtake MK7. It is going to take awhile, but if nothing changes, it will happen.

I don't think anyone could have predicted that a year ago.

Its much more of a unique 3DS experience than MK, That must be why.

I'm not sure SM3DL will eventually catch up MK7, anyway they're very close indeed one to each other, whereas quite everyone was expecting MK7 to outsell the other one, so either one underperformed or the other one did much better than anticipated, or both.

Since I am at it, I take the opportunity to remark as MH3G, despite selling slightly less, is apparently making a bigger revenue than SM3DLand, as it's sold at 1.000 yen more.

Not a bad week all-around for the Japanese market. Good for DQM, 3DS, Dragon's Dogma, and Fire Emblem. Next week should see a good bump for the Vita with Persona coming out.

P4 will debut at DQM:J2's third week, i think.
