Everyone must be playing that free, untracked Bloodborne.
Slightly blatant dig at software problem. :p

Nice.

Seeing as how MK8 is almost at 1.1mil and Splatoon is still outpacing it after 3 months, even a million may seem like a boring prediction now.

Go completely nuts. Say 1.5mil with digital.

Maybe you want say WITHOUTH digital? Well, i know Splatoon is gonna to sell more than that, but i still say 1.5 million... Just for be conservate. The game will easy pass 900k in 2015, probabily 1 million or so, and that's in Media Create...

It's slowed down significantly outside of Japan (probably non-existent in Europe), so 3 million will be tough.
It's slowed more in the west than it has in Japan but is still showing impressive legs. Last month it would've been 6th in July NPD by individual skus (with 85k for four weeks) and it's still charting weekly in France (#2), Spain (#7), the UK (#15) and Germany (#13) as of last week. You make it sound like it's fallen off completely and it hasn't at all.

But those positions aren't really as great, given proper context (like the 10th game in UK being less than 5k).
Combined US and Europe sales are probably only equivalent to Japan, at best, these days.

To have a WiiU title still show up in any chart is something given the state of the console.

So in context, what you're saying is the European market in general is non-existent?

Like the US market, it's very, very top heavy.

all markets are top heavy, it's just that what's at the top in Japan is rather different from what's at the top elsewhere

Splatoon is at the top in the west too, the top
of my stack of games on top of a tablet displaying the last thread
of the NPD.

:p

Right, but this isn't a look at the market as a whole, it's the focus on Splatoon.
It was last at 1.6 million shipped though June.
3 million isn't a lock when it's dropped off everywhere outside of Japan.

It's been ranking 3-4 in Japan. That isn't exactly far from western rankings. It's worse than France even.

You have to keep drop off in context too. It's held better in Japan, but by most metrics it's still having an impressive western hold as well. "dropped off everywhere but Japan" is a highly slanted take on Splatoon's continued worldwide performance.

Worth noting the UK sales are pretty nonexistent down the chart. That is probably in the 2K-3K range. For reference sake, when it dropped out of the top ten in the UK it was at about 31K or about 10% of the Witcher 3's physical sales for three weeks. France is genuinely good for Nintendo, and I would not be shocked if it 2-3x Britain's sales there. But in UK the WiiU(and even 3DS) are in poor shape. A llot of stores still have twice the selection space for Wii/Ds games as they do for WiiU/3DS.

The US numbers are good, but with the caveat that it is not selling WiiU's. The WiiU had a really dreadful last month, down at 40K or so I believe, which means it is selling to the existing Nintendo fanbase in the West rather than moving consoles.

So it's doing good but not doing good because not doing better than good after 3 month?

Mario Maker preorders on comgnet seem pretty low?

[WiiU] Super Mario Maker - 14pt

yes they are

Of course. Mario is dead.
There are multiple SKUs.

not even charting at all

Mario Maker's top will be something like half of that but since you seem to have preorders for it and know its preorders/sales ratio why don't you share them with the rest.

100-200k is for Mario Mario Maker and for Pokemon substract 100k from FW, I thought previous openened higher.

I was referring to COMGT preorders, as we usually do here. now it's more clear that you were referring to Pokemon with that numbers, so we are more in line in terms of possible SMM numbers.

So it's doing good but not doing good because not doing better than good after 3 month?

Very good for a WiiU game, but at 465K physical, it is less than Japan, a market which is now only about 25% of the size of the US one. So it is a success, is a hit with Nintendo fans, but doesn't seem to have transcended existing Nintendo WiiU fans into the wider gaming community in the West as it has in Japan.

"Very good but...".... Yes, it's not Wii Sports all over again which is not a news or something worth discussing as nobody said it would be.

I mean, the game was supposed to do W101 level, then Pikmin level etc... and now it has to be a massive system seller or do 5M + ltd because if not it will be "yeah, good but not good enough to win the war".

Obviously, it's doing better in Japan because Nintendo is doing better in Japan.

To follow up on the Splatoon Europe argument, here's the UK:

Code:
[Week 34, 2015] 01 (01) LEGO JURASSIC WORLD (WARNER BROS. INTERACTIVE) < 10,432 (-14%)

01 (02) 360 LEGO JURASSIC WORLD (WARNER BROS. INTERACTIVE)

Last week (week 33) the Xbox 360 version of LEGO Jurassic World accounted for 41% of sales, if this week the software split was similar then less than 4,277 units sold would be enough to top the UK chart (individual formats).
17 (15) WIU SPLATOON (NINTENDO)

I still think Mario Maker will be incredibly underwhelming outside of the US. I just think the Wii U is already platformer saturated and I don't think Mario Maker is going to grab people all that much.

Could be however consider that the appeal of the game isn't just to be a simple platformer.

Wii U has been worse in Japan than the US though I think.

On a similar note, the new Pokemon game is out, but it's not up on the charts yet since they're a bit delayed.

Fate/Grand Order is having an astonishing performance though.

That was true last year, I believe, with Mario Kart and Smash having a bigger effect in the US, but it's switched around this year. Splatoon hasn't really driven console sales in the US like it has in Japan.
Well, I wouldn't say switched around. They've been around even this year

Well US market for home consoles is way way bigger than Japanese market. In that context WiiU has done better in Japan than in US when you look at its ltd.

True. I guess relatively it's doing better.
