Media Create Sales: Week 35, 2017 (Aug 28 - Sep 03)

Its as Nirolak said, Sony isn't likely to have much in the pipeline any more (that we don't already know about) and Tales Of would definitely be something to see in their pre-TGS conference if it exists. Whatever the case, they'll do most of their focus on MH and probably MH bundles in lieu of strong games this holiday.

I missed this post.

Hmmm...just how bad does Metroid do in Japan? It is the next release I'm personally excited about but I'm assuming it will be a non-entity in these threads?

What're people thinking we'll see for its numbers?

One of the reasons Nintendo outsourced almost everything for 3DS this year is that expectations for software sales are low.

So, do you guys expect Shenmue/Bayo/Vanquish Ps4/XB1 releases to be real? Revealed at TGS?

Bayo/Vanquish seems likely i can't imagine Sega didn't at least float the idea. Shemue too may be a quick buck attempt on the back of sequel. Perhaps in not the hghest end of probablities, but certainly in the maybe/wouldn't be shocked.

Yep, mostly completely outsourced or heavily reusing assets like FE and Pokémon.
There's supposed to be a Kirby game this year, not sure how that'll turn out.

I think they're real and so is the MD Collection most likely. But I also think they're likely all Sega West initiatives and probably won't be at TGS.

I also think we'll see a Bayo 1/2 Collection release on Switch but from Nintendo's production end. Sega and M2's retro efforts will likely also go to Switch given their previous trajectory (PS2 -> Wii -> 360/PS3 -> 3DS). Not expecting Shenmue anything for Switch though.

Shenmue seems more like a thing to have just because (I would guess) a good proportion of the Shenmue 3 market (maybe some crossover with the Yakuza fans) don' have a good memory of what happened in the previous 2 games.

Where was Valkyria Chronicles PS4 revealed? It'll probably be similar.
They're held in higher regards by the western crowd anyway, so I doubt it'd be TGS.

They were actually a couple of Metroid predictions on YSO, between 20k and 30k, which is fairly good for what Metroid does in Japan.

Still though, that's an actual Nintendo IP that's irrelevant in Japan.

Hopefully they don't overship, cause stores will be flooded with second hand copies before the end of the week.

I wonder if Konami is working on porting the Fox engine to Switch? At this point both Winning Eleven and Metal Gear could probably benefit from having a new platform release.

Sinobi had said almost all preorders of Metroid at amazon were for the Special Edition. If that's the case with other retailers too I doubt they'll order much more copies.

Right. We might see a few new Nintendo announcements if they are for early 2018 but I don't expect a big blowout of 1st party stuff.

I expect a decent amount of 3rd party announcements. Heck the April direct saw like 7 announcements and that was a pretty low profile event.
If it's a rapid fire Direct like the one in April, you could see enough announcements.

Man, if there's a Direct in the next two weeks I hope it has the same pacing as that one.

There's nothing currently announced from Bamco that is made with Unity. If it isn't God Eater, it would have to be something else that would be announced soon, for a release next spring, and targeting the west as there's a Xbox One version in development.
God Eater fit the thing surprisingly well.

EDIT : assuming it's from Bamco, of course.
Little Witch Academia is Unity, but it's only been announced for PS4.

They also make most of their mobile games on Unity.

I imagine local multiplayer would be a big help for each in Japan.
Peace Walker was a Monster Hunter clone (I'm not sure how much that helped in Japan)
I think survive has a mode like Salmon Run which seems pretty popular in Japan.

To not pin this all on Vern if this turns out wrong, he said he just heard it and is in no way confirming that there will be, but that combined with other people having heard the same and the timing being really logical for a lot of different reasons makes us think it's highly likely that there will be a Direct on the 13th.

So, Destiny 2 won't chart!?

Is Japanese can't play FPS a real thing?
While there are some studies suggesting people of East Asian decent suffer from motion sickness more often, it's no where near the rate to actually be a primary (or even especially notable) driver.

It's presumably a cultural preference issue, given you see games like Crossfire and Overwatch being tremendously dominant in China and South Korea.

I would guess this primarily stems from a mix of Japan having been console dominated from the start (China and South Korea are PC dominated while almost every major Western developer started on PC, and both the EU and NA still have very significant PC audiences), and Japan's affinity to character design doesn't jive super well with a first person camera.

I mean, it would be weird if there wasn't a Direct kind of soon.

-Zelda DLC 2 details and release date
-Xenoblade 2 release date
-Skyrim release date
-Yoshi and Kirby release dates and the Switch's Q1 2018.

They need to talk about these games soon.

They still have time to give release dates for Kirby & Yoshi, but I agree about the other 3.

We don't even necessarily know Yoshi and Kirby are H1.
So we definitely aren't expecting a release date.

Mario Odyssey preorders
Arms update
Kirby 3DS reveal and date

and these are only some of the known in pending

Even if September 13 didn't leak there isn't any other week left with Sony pre-TGS and TGS coming the week after.

Speaking of Mario Odyssey preorders.

It's apprently listed as the 20th best selling video game product of 2017 for Amazon (USA). Really interested how it does throughout the holidays.

True, it's also the best-selling video game on amazon US daily ranking. It's going to be massive.

You think Nintendo showed off those games to have them not come out in H1?

With kirby 3ds coming out in November (imho) and with the e3 demo being way behind the Yoshi one I would say that Yoshi will actually be a H1 Switch game but I wouldn't be surprised by Kirby being a Q3 or Q4 switch game next year
