I believe 2K is also Jaguar LTD in Japan lol

Yeah, the Japanese Wikipedia page gives a source of 3,000, or maybe it says less than 3,000. It didn't last long, only 12 games were released for it, the last coming only 6 months after launch.

it was more of a computer from what i understand.

Consolised version of the FM Towns computer. The world's first 32-bit console.

Japanese hardware shipments through 1994:

Sega Saturn: 500,000
3DO: 365,000
Sony PlayStation: 300,000
NEC PC-FX: 70,000
Atari Jaguar: 2,000

Japanese hardware shipments through 1997/03:

Super Famicom: 16,870,000
Game Boy: 15,020,000
Sony PlayStation: 6,500,000
Sega Saturn: 4,800,000
Nintendo 64: 2,040,000
3DO: 750,000
Neo Geo: 700,000
NEC PC-FX: 270,000

nhMaFg9.jpg

Note the 30,000 extra sales for 3DO compared to the commonly quoted 720k figure for Matsushita's 3DO REAL. Sanyo also sold it's version the "3DO TRY" in Japan, they shipped 20,000 through 1995/03 before pulling out the next year. I'd guess they sold whatever stock they had already manufactured in 1996/03 and the 750k figure is a combined Matsushita/Sanyo figure.

I really wish we had some reliable PC engine and Megadrive figures. All I hear is that "PC engine outsold Mega Drive" but I've never really seen any figures that back it up.

Sega shipped 3.58m Mega Drive in Japan. PC Engine 5.84m, but that includes CD-ROM² add-ons (900k+ sold). So total PC Engine hardware capable of playing Hu-Card titles was approaching 5m.

I doubt either figure includes the various licensed variants however.

who cares about creativity should also recognize the good production values of their (at least) first iterations of a franchise and especially the number of newIPs created, imho.
The first Inazuma Eleven was pretty lacking, man. It was the 2nd game where they fixed the pacing and content problems.

Both LLs were in stock on Amazon JP today, but they are sold out again. The regular N3DS never seems to go out of stock. My guess is they shipped way more of the N3DS than the N3DSLL, due to the faceplate thing they are pushing, but we'll see soon enough.

Smash Bros. for 3DS still king, just will lost his place for MH 4G, next week, which wouldn't be a surprise sell close to 1 million. Still very
impressive sales for Yokai watch 2, even with the new version announced still selling a lot.

Wii U kept his pace, and Sad that Hyrule Warriors did not make in top 20, I hope that Bayonetta 2 and Fatal Frame V keep on selling for a while.

Kinki no Magna did a good start, I was hopping for something like 10k. I am still not sure about this game, looks cute but I am not sure if
I will buy it.

And I am still offended with square-enix, for release this Kingdom Hearts for Wii U.

New 3DS XL sold out, normal model available.

I asked to the boss if the XL model is sold out because the normal had a bigger shipment. She said that even this, the XL is more popular.

She told me that Smash Bros and Youkai Watch 2 sold more this week than the past.

P.D: finally I have my New 3DS

Hm, maybe Nintendo thought the LL would be a lot more popular so that's why they gave the n3DS the exclusive faceplate feature?

Dunno, just spitballing.

Of course. XL model is always more popular than the normal.
Nintendo did the faceplate things to make both models attractive.

Nintendo was really smart to introduce faceplates and rake in that accessory money that smartphones have been seeing for years now. I only wish the XL had custom plates as well but maybe they wanted the New 3ds to have some unique appeal or just didn't want to incur the cost of 20+ faceplate themes with 2 different sizes.

Wouldn't it be better to give faceplates to LL which is more popular? Higher chance of earning more from a larger crowd.

I figured it was because there are enthusiasts who are willing to buy a new console whenever a special edition LL that they like comes out. Future special edition LLs will still sell to these people, but for regular users who aren't willing to spend that much, a $10-20 faceplate captures that market. This way they maximize their profits, though I could see them adding faceplate functionality to LLs as well if they sell well enough on the regular models.

Does the LL have easily removable fronts and backs like the New 3ds?

I think they made them different as sort of an experiment. The LL will get special editions and the normal will get kisekae plates. By having both on the market they can more easily see what's the best strategy going forward, getting people with special editions or revenue from plates. At this point it's hard to tell how alluring the plates are (will people buy systems for it? Does it attract a market that wasn't being served?), how many people will buy, or how much people will spend on them. I'm sure it's going to be a big thing they look at on the Club Nintendo surveys. I think it's reasonable to think if it becomes very popular they move in that direction for both systems next time and if not perhaps they will drop it.

Terra Battle is currently the #17 highest grossing app in Japan. I'd like to note this is a self published game by Mistwalker.

Final Fantasy Record Keeper is #5 right now. So far a major return to relevance for DeNA/Mobage.

Terra battle is fit for mobile games and I'm enjoying very much, Dragon Quest on the other hand despite being a fan is not that good, can't tolerate screen controls.

Next year New 3DS XL+ revision will have the faceplates included.

Just according to plan*.

That sounds plausible. I think faceplates will become popular based on the amount of accessories available for smartphones. A lot of people seem to like personalizing their belongings.

I had a walk in Ikebukuro, didn't notice that n3DS LL was sold out, i mean, i didn't see anything related to it (around 15:00)

MH4G retail was sold out in both Bic Camera and Sofmap

How does this translate to actual generated revenue, any idea? Because otherwise it seems to be a pretty much content-free information.

This is what 11 was earlier this year, and a GUMI Europe exec implied #3 was about 1 million a day.

Generally speaking money made by the top spots has only ever went up, so view this more as a floor.

I believe I read that 20 was about half of 11, but I'm having trouble refinding that info so I could be wrong.

That revenue column is a daily one.

Terra Battle had a 300k downloads notification this morning, and a 200k downloads notification yesterday. Not sure if that's just the UK App Store, or worldwide.

It's not a bad game, I hope it does OK for 'em.
