Yup.

Might have to do with the fact that PS4 has been on the market for 4 years and sold 70m worldwide. It definitely seems that Nintendo focused developers/franchises are much more willing/ready to go multiplatform than Playstation focused developers/franchises.

Even the next Yokai Watch game will be on PS4?
Probably because Hino was unprepared for the success of the Switch even with the success of their previous titles on the DS and 3DS? This may possibly be first being developed with the PS4 in mind.

I highly doubt this game developed with the PS4 in mind. If it was, it really doesn't show, at all.

Odyssey week is said to be the fourth launch (after the initial one, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Splatoon 2) since a considerable number of main units should be shipped. Shipments will start arriving from the end of this week to the end of next.
Nothing really remarkable for other releases despite the big number of them.
should ask friendcode for a Playstation exclusive-> multiplatform and Nintendo exclusive-> multiplatform comparisonYou're already seeing franchises hit Switch that were more Sony focused. Like I said last page I think you'll see the PS4/Switch pairing more and more.

any chance of it doing console launch numbers

So far they are kind of a different level of relevance though. If I'm not mistaken the biggest to go Switchward is Attack on Titan.
Inazuma Eleven is also not even that relevant of a franchise as it used to be lolSo far they are kind of a different level of relevance though. If I'm not mistaken the biggest to go Switchward is Attack on Titan.
yeah,why not lol,just asking for fun330k? Not a chance.

Inazuma Eleven hasn't been relevant for years.

I guess that depends on how far back you want to talk. I'm assuming you're thinking of Dragon Quest and Monster Hunter, and to that I'd say that 1- history doesn't start with the 3DS and 2- those franchises are still on Nintendo platforms and you've already seen an example of a really big game in the DQ franchise that was on Sony transition to Switch (DQ Builders)
That wasn't a shift there was already AoT games on the 3DS and continued to be. That's simply taking a game the 3DS couldn't handle and putting it on the switch.
"Nintendo focused developers/franchises" is just an arbitrary term. Each publisher determines a game's platform depending whether or not the audience they're targeting exists on the platform. Certain series didn't make sense on certain platform (imagine Yokai Watch on PS4/Vita) and at times they made bad calls.
in IE's case, I think you can target teenagers/YA who enjoyed the series years ago and now have a PS4. If they can develop for PS4 too then why not?
I never suggested they were ditching Nintendo platforms.
.
So I'm not sure your point, other than you won't be happy unless/until Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts ,and Yakuza come to Switch?
KH was on 3DS, Yakuza was on Wii U, FFXV team is tinkering with Switch. Are there no true PlayStation exclusives anymore? /sSo I'm not sure your point, other than you won't be happy unless/until Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts ,and Yakuza come to Switch?
Long live to the President.Nintendo Company Report 1993
yeah,I have a feeling he is heavily obsessed with games being switch exclusives for some reasonsNot enough, they have to leave PlayStation as well...
As long as I got Mario, Pokémon, and Dragon Quest I'm good however. Switch has hit it out of the park for me.
Theyd lose NOA and NOE publishing and advertising though, or else become regional exclusives. I could see it though, Hino believes YW should sell as well in the west as it does in Japan and hitting more platforms might be one way to target that.YW is kinda popular in Europe so I don't see why not.

He was talking about Nintendo focused developers/franchise going multiplatform. He didn't say anything about said developers/franchise ditching Nintendo platforms, so your reply about them still on Nintendo platforms is irrelevant. So I'm not sure your point, other than you won't be happy unless/until Final Fantasy, Kingdom Hearts ,and Yakuza come to Switch?

Actually that makes me curious what happens with IE Ares? Does NOE publish Switch only? Does another publisher (Bandai Namco) step in as a multiplatform publisher? Does L5IA expand to packaged releases or does IE Ares become digital exclusive overseas?

Well, at least that's what I understood.
I'm just trying to understand his point and to illustrate that its rarely as black and white as "Nintendo franchise is now on Sony" or vice versa. My point on DQ Builders is its an example of a game that was a Sony platform exclusive and is now on Switch- and a rather high profile game at that. It doesn't "count" any less because the franchise has had a strong presence on Nintendo platforms.
Between Inazuma Eleven and Megaton Musashi being PS4-bound I imagine Level 5 will be releasing all their brands going forward, including new ones, and those are relevant.
Dragon Quest Builders (and Heroes) getting ported to Switch doesn't invalidate his point about a Nintendo focused franchise going multiplatform though. Dragon Quest series has been mainly on and associated with Nintendo platforms, but now it's also available on PlayStation and PC.I'm just trying to understand his point and to illustrate that its rarely as black and white as "Nintendo franchise is now on Sony" or vice versa. But its not really true from that perspective either. FFXV team is tinkering with Switch, FFXIV team is actively developing on Switch, Omega Force and Gust have gone full Switch multiplat support, NIS has pledged to Switch support after D5C success, Nagoshi/Yakuza Studio plans to make Switch games, Tokyo RPG Factory, PSO2 is coming to Switch, Arc Sys fighting team is now on Switch multiplat, Hamster brought Arcade Archives, Tales is coming, 5pb Science VN, Tozai Spelunker, GalGun, Touhou spinoffs, etc. There is a good degree of expanded developer interest here despite Japans general slowness to transition to new platforms and thats just going to grow as we go forward. He was talking about Nintendo focused developers/franchise going multiplatform. My admittedly uneducated opinion for what platforms japanese games should be on
Every (non mobile) Japanese game should be on Switch. There should only be a handful of exceptions here for games like FFXV or FF7 remake where pushing the PS4/XBO/PC platforms as hard as they can are a top priority for the game, and the game has a western presence capable of making up for the lost Switch sales.
If you intend on localizing your game, it should be on PS4 and PC as well, the western install bases of those platforms shouldn't be ignored.
The only reason a japanese publisher should even bother with XBO is if the game is huge like a mainline Final Fantasy game.
I think it makes sense to build your game from the ground up on Switch, then port it to PS4 and PC. This will save on development costs, and honestly the switch is such a big jump from 3DS/Vita that i dont think most PS4 owners would care.
Nope, NOA and NOE still published the 3DS versions in their regions.Level-5 published Lady Layton themselves for 3DS worldwide afaik.
The move to PlatStation for DQ happened years ago though and the plan originally may have been for a full move since (pre-Switch) Builders and Heroes skipped Nintendo and DQXI was concieved as a PS4 exclusive. What weve seen with DQ is actually something of a swing backwards to full multiplat after a more agressive PS push, likely due to the market realities in Japan.Dragon Quest Builders (and Heroes) getting ported to Switch doesn't invalidate his point about a Nintendo focused franchise going multiplatform though. Dragon Quest series has been mainly on and associated with Nintendo platforms, but now it's also available on PlayStation and PC.
Even if we take the DQ Builders example it's going to be balanced against the fact that games that have been on the DS/3DS in that same franchise(like remakes and Monsters) will now be multiplatform.
From the platform holder stand point the revenue generated by having those games as exclusives and the positive effect they have on stuff like hardware sales have been significantly diluted.
The biggest third party exclusive for the Switch announced/released right now is probably Octopath Traveller and that's a game that probably won't sell 200k.
I'm not sure how that can argued to not be a problem or a negative for Nintendo and it's definitely not one that can be ignored.
Regista (a company that seemingly makes only VN, like Root Double) just announced they've been approved as Switch devs. Currently working on ports and new titles.
