On Famitsu.

Minecraft: PlayStation Vita Edition: 693.508 (Retail: 375.295, Digital: 318.213)

Should surpass 700k next week.

-----------------

btw, remember the Bamco action, shooter, RPG free to play thing on WiiU? It's supposed to come out this winter but no release date so far, it'll be featured on tomorrow's issue of Famitsu so I guess maybe then.

Wonder how that beta was too.

Was the beta of Project Treasure playable?
You mean as if it was open to everyone? Because how is a beta not playable?

If so yeah, it was open, plenty of gameplay of it on Youtube.

Pretty clear there's little to no interest on the game anyway, the most viewed gameplay video of the game has less than 7k views on Youtube.

Famitsu Retail and Digital Sales: October 2015 (Oct 05 - Nov 01)
06. [WIU] Splatoon {2015.5.28} - 46,145 | Retail: 40,250; Digital: 5,895

So I'm assuming we can safely say Famitsu's digital tracking is inaccurate as far as Nintendo games are concerned.

Thank you
I don't think the difference here will be that significant, compared to the aformentioned mark. 3DS will miss it, imho.

So I'm assuming we can safely say Famitsu's digital tracking is inaccurate as far as Nintendo games are concerned.
Only for Splatoon because we have official numbers to compare it to. We're in the dark with all other games unless there is some official numbers given.

To reach 20m this year, 3DS needs to sell roughly 100 000 units per week until the end of the year. Technically possible, but far from guaranteed.

Last year, 3DS sold ~801 665 units between November 24th and the last week of 2014 (Media Create). So 580 000 in 2015 during the same period isn't that farfetched, but without a Yo-kai Watch game in December, that might be difficult.

And the weather too, it's really hot in Florida. Heat waves are fierce.

You mock, but a retail release of a free to play game that has been out for 7 months and adds absolutely nothing is not going to do amazingly.

All I was doing here was providing context in case people weren't aware of Rumble World's history. It's the 4th best grossing Nintendo eShop game.

The New 3DS also released last year, which helped a lot imo. So I think it's highly unlikely.

I agree with this.
I don't think 3DS will break 20M mark, but isn't that hard as many people think.

There were F2P-turned-into-retail-games that sold respectably well, e.g. PSO2 on PSV and DDO on PS3/4.

Jesus Christ, it stills blows my mind how little the regular N3DS sells. I was expecting this model to be so much more popular than it ended up being.

Shame because it's the best model.

Did they even release any other game after Xenoblade? That certainly didn't help the handheld sell any better.

I think the point is that most people expected the n3DS to sell more than the n3DSLL in Japan (me included). Nothing linked to the old 3DS, no point in buying this one anymore, even with no exclusive n3DS games.

Most people didn't expect that based on DSi and DSi LL sales.

I could see it go either way, but I didn't think it was going to be this lopsided. I thought Nintendo had done a great job making them both attractive for different reasons.

Most people didn't expect that based on DSi and DSi LL sales.

The faceplate idea was supposed to help make the smaller model more attractive than it otherwise would have been. The idea was definitely well-received in these threads.

A variety of mobile updates for today.

First up, Yokai Watch's mobile puzzle game has now been out for a month.

It's plausibly going to be an enduring hit. I usually wait two months before stating that with a high degree confidence, but it's going quite well so far.

This would be Level-5's first ever mobile hit, with all previous games having been discontinued or never making the leap away from feature phones.

What's this White Cat Project and what is Sony's involvment in it, haha? Do you know Nirolak?

Yes, it released in the West recently as Rune Story:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/colopl-rune-story/id1010987911?mt=8
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.coloplni.wcatus&hl=en

It's a mission based action RPG you can play in co-op.

Sony distributes it in select markets in Asia that are not Japan IIRC (think places like Taiwan).

By comparison, Fate/Grand Order is actually directly by Sony through their Aniplex subdivision.

For White Cat/Rune Story, I tried it out and it's pretty fun. It fits in well with the types of co-op games that succeeded on handhelds both this and last generation.

I imagine the type of audiences that were playing games like Dragon Quest 9 (this is realtime though) or Phantasy Star or Crystal Chronicles are likely enjoying this quite a bit, since it's much more of a traditional game than most mobile titles.

It doesn't offer the kind of depth you get with Monster Hunter though so I'd compare it more to relatively simple action RPGs or maybe it's also appealing to someone who likes straightforward turned based co-op RPGs and is not opposed to action.

This is one area I feel where Western and Eastern mobile games differ quite a bit, and why I feel their impact on the market has been rather distinct. In the West, usually mobile games are built in the model of Facebook games, old Flash browser games, or more casual titles on the DS and Wii. In the East, they're often simplified facsimiles of what's popular on dedicated devices or in PC gaming cafes. Instead of digging into the business of NewGrounds or Facebooks, it more directly digs into the business you see with enthusiast gamers on dedicated handhelds or consoles.

Mind, there is still a variety of efforts to appeal to more traditional gamers on mobile in the West, but usually the most successful efforts on that front are in the realm of f2p PC games instead.

N3DSLL over N3DS was pretty expected for me imo.

I really thought this game sold almost 100k. Maybe, i was dreaming about it, lol.

afaik we don't have the top1000 chart from Enterbrain, but the way it disappeared from the chart (4 weeks) let me suppose that the game didn't have a restock (first week was 60-80% range) or it was likely very limited

but Haikyuu is very popular among female audience now, maybe the popularity grew up during this year, I'm not so informed about anime/manga popularity honestly

We were all expecting more for AC because Japan loves this franchise and Amiibo's are hot.

I think this underscores how special Splatoon is. Nintendo can't get those sales from just any old release.

Man, Monster Hunter X has over 2 million points in comgnet?

What game had the highest points prior?

If it's not clear, I'm joking.

Curious what the digital sales of Net High will be like, with the ¥1000 demo rebate. With almost a ¥2000 price difference, it very likely did effect those numbers.

Maybe I'm wrong but the card one says something about number 2, so if you multiply the price x2, and the result with the price of the doshisha store you get something like 94.240, that seems very fitable in this case given the sellthrough by Famitsu.

----

Btw, Rakuten is having less than half-priced various things on its website. According to Hachima Kikou, PS4 will be at 22.900yen and New 3DS LL at 11.900yen, starting from the beginning of December.
