Cf bolded: is it another one of those "can't make the same games as for other platforms, let's make chibi Guilty Gear instead"? Goddammit I hope not.
SMT V announcement (or a new spinoff?) seems to have been teased several times this year for 2017...

It's not one of the fighting game guys. It's the Director of ACS eShop games by the looks of it which would explain it.

Ah, makes more sense then. Still, Arcsys being on the 3rd party slide for the Switch still makes me hope it'll be their fighting games and not their tiny niche (as in even more niche than their others) games.

I did some research...

Splatoon by Nintedo break 1 million in Japan at Week 50 2015.
Famitsu has the game at 889.773 at that same week.

Well the ~150k digital for September 2016 looks close enough if you account the margin of error for a game with about ~1.5m sold in Japan.

I worked it out at the time the numbers were off a chunk

The real Blazblue did appear on the 3DS
as a terrible PSP port that didn't go to sleep when you closed the system.

Arc System Works Producer wants to make a game that can be announced in a Nintendo Direct(lol)
I smell Kunio.

Etrian Odyssey and Shin Megami Tensei both have anniversaries.
YES

Inti-Creates has a Blaster Master Zero surprise?
Gunvolt, Gal Gun and MN9 cameos.

New evolution of Toukiden in 2017?
Bye Vita.

More SaGa in 2017?(ports of Scarlet Grace)
Romancing SaGa 3 mobile. Maybe Dotemu ports the DS remakes too.

Puyo Puyo announcement in Mid-January(hmm....)
Chronicle PS4/Switch. Maybe Vita, Wii U, Xbox One too.

I hope my fanfiction of a Fire Emblem Arena by ASW comes true, but it'll just be the Kunio-kun games (which they publish, I believe)

We're missing many months for digital and haven't had retail updates for the PS4 version in a while, but it's likely that all console versions of Minecraft have sold more than 400k each, Vita version is creeping to 1.2 million too.

We all know, deep in our hearts, what NIS will announce for the Switch

Pretty boring answers (as expected). I compiled the actual interesting stuff to me.

New IP from NIS
Hino is the only one with actual confidence/excitement of creating something big
New titles from Sony - known to not play it safe
Kadokawa getting in on mobile (have they released stuff before?)
Arcsys interested in making something different
Yakuza devs kind of conflicting, not sure if they are continuing Yakuza or a new IP, both I guess
Sakaguchi's new game announced next year

Status quo from everyone else. A little surprised by the lack of excitement for the new platform coming in 3 months (minus like 2 devs?) at least from this collection of devs

I'm not sure any of them were successful enough to warrant that. They all feel like experiments that didn't end well.

Only game which genuinely seemed to do very well on Vita was Coven, which was much higher in production values than things like Hero Must Die/Rose & Castle of Twilight/World's Longest 5 Minutes.

Speaking of Coven, why on earth hasn't a Western (or at least NA) release been announced yet? I keep waiting for it XD

For tomorrow numbers we should expect massive increases. According to the weekly Rakuten, Mario Maker should be the best selling game of the week. Not only that, the Wii U game also could appear on top 20. A great FW for Momotetsu should be expected as well. Sumikko, Minecraft were the stars, so expect massive increases for these games. Kirby and Animal Crossing with increases as well. In other words, NINTENDO WEEK.

Super Mario Maker is a lock for a million now. The Wii U version selling at both retail and digital is great too.

Now watch Yoshi bomb;-)

I always had a good feeling about Mario Maker, but this is still very impressive. Nintendo sure knows how to work the holidays, even in an off year.

Splatoon and Super Mario Maker are two new IPs that are guaranteed million sellers. Who would have thought? :p

Nintendo is really lucky in this regard. I mean Mario being a million seller isn't that much of a surprise like Splatoon and that IP 'Maker' has plenty of potential with other similar popular IPs.

What other things can they experiment with this maker brand? Creating a platformer is easier here. Not sure how they can keep improving the IP with time.

Super Metroid Maker
Super Yoshi Maker
Super Kirby Maker

Can they work out here?

I think the others should be correct.

The artisan bit makes me think of something related to creating stuff and/or shops. But it's probably Sumikko Gurashi, it was #12 last week after all, so a bump to #10 seems possible.

Look at 769

I did take me a while to realise what you were talking about, ha ha.

***

Anyway, Level-5 just announced the second major update for Yo-kai Watch 3 (all versions). It's 3.0 (with 2.0 being the Busters T update). Unfortunately, they didn't say what the update would include, or when it would be released (just that there would be a special version of that Enma Yo-kai for each version).

http://www.youkai-watch.jp/yw3/update/

My money was on a July release, alongside the home release of the third movie (+ start of pre-sale for 4th one), but if they're announcing it now, I'm not so sure anymore.

Numbers should come in a few hours, but note that:

- The web that publishes Media Create numbers (4gamer) is already on vacation, so no MC numbers will be available today.
- There're high chances that gamer.ne.jp will update as usual on thursday at 13:00 JST with MC Top 30 (no hardware though)
- Possibly, Media Create official website might update on thursday as well, with hardare and software top 50.

- Famitsu should update as usual today in a few hours. Usually they're a few hours later than MC, but today they might be in time.

Kirby would definitely work. Metroid is not a regular platformer.
I don't think "maker" is a good idea for most of their brands anyway. Mario needed it due to Nintendo basically already refining the formula a lot for their 2D gamed, they were kind of in a deadend there, unlike other games.

These rankings confirm comgnet was inflated for another year. The only mini surprise of the week would be Mario Maker being over Sun / Moon, since it needs a 250-300k range for that.
