Media Create Sales: Week 6, 2016 (Feb 08 - Feb 14)

Sure, Dragon Quest Builders could have done 2 million because Dragon Quest + Minecraft, you see, it's maths. Or maybe life is not that simple and that game could also have missed both targets, being neither a true DQ experience, nor a true Minecraft experience.

With more than 500K copies sold, the job is done for the first block-making RPG (all rights reserved) and that makes more than 1,5 million Dragon Quest games sold on PlayStation in Japanasia Kingdom, since the comeback 12 months ago.

Now to see if Dragon Quest Heroes II can replicate the success of its predecessor. The PS3 is almost gone, the PS4 has grown. Not sure if the PS Vita can make up for the PS3, the handheld will probably have some trouble to run the game : /

---

I thought Valkyria Chronicles R could do a little better than Gravity Rush R. But it's okay Japan, the West got you covered, don't worry.

---

I don't think SMT4F is underselling, more like SMT4 was overselling in the first place. Out of the 180K people that bought the first game at launch, I wonder how many have actually finished it, or even reached the halfway. Not especially surprised to see everyone is not coming back for more punishment.

PS4 holding well.

Seems like all it needs is a steady stream of software.

How's the lineup in the near future after SFV and Setsuna?

I guess 25,000 - 40,000

max 50,000

both version combine

side note: another boring game

Boring...?

Just because it's a low seller? Maybe to you, but I want to see the sales from a new IP from a new studio. Sales that can influence the future of this studio.

Would not have expected Valkyria Chronicles remastered to have a better debut then the PS4 version of the FFX/FFX-2 Remaster though. I was certainly wrong, which is good because 15k...is not.

If your base was a late release of FFX/FFX-2 Remaster on PS4 after PS3/PSV versions were out months before you had wrong base.

Bllodborne has showed zero legs even before Sony starts giving it for free. Dark Souls III will be the real test though.

It's boring since first hour and now I'm 10 hours in Setsuna

That why I put it on "side note" because this is sell thread

A good comparison to what? The main objective here would be to see how many fans they can retain with a re-release/expansion/asset-recyclesequel of a major numbered game.

I just think Strange Journey is a bit comparable to SMTIV Final. It's a mainline game without really being numbered as the new main game.
Of course I see why you've shown P3 and P3FES, I just don't think the audiences are necessarily the same than SMT for those games. Even SMT spinoffs like all the ones that were on PS2 are probably closer.

..i dont think the next SMT games will use those oldschool 2D sprites.
.

Only thing I agree with you on this topic, but for an hardware reason, not really a strategy/appeal one.

interesting to see how Minecraft vita sales have switched to retail, less than 5k in a month is around 1-1,3k a week, while retail sales in january were very good (didnt check but I presume a 6-7k weekly average)

ULTROS!

People seem to like me because I am polite and I am rarely late. I like to eat ice cream and I really enjoy a nice pair of slacks.

I think it'll be nice if we had an import thread about this game. Hope you can give your more impressions!

Didn't they increase the price of digital edition to match retail version sometime ago? Should explain why sales of digital edition have dried up.

I dont know but digital already is always more expensive than retail, considering the latter is always discounted by shops (around 10%)

I suppose that increased retail sales are due to the younger audience, they dont go online to buy games
Also the winter holiday promotion probably drove more sales to retail than digital

Hey, does anybody remember that web site for sales data of huge amounts of Japanese games but it was mostly in English?

Just finished the Media Create Game Business Seminar. I have a lot of information about 2015 rankings, Amiibo sales, software and publishers... But unfortunately they're very clear saying that the copying or reproduction of this document is strictly forbidden.

Don't expect me sharing this info here, you know what happened to some users before for sharing this kind of expensive information.

What I can say is that MC predicts PS4 to sell between 1.3-1.6 million this year. Total sales will be 3.6-3.9 million by the end of 2016. (Since this is not current data I don't see any problem sharing this).

Btw, Chris, LTD of N64 hardware sales don't match with your database.

If Media Creates early PS4 2016 sales prediction come close to the actual sales numbers. It will neither be close to PS3s 2009 sales nor beat 3DSs 2016 results (6th/possible transition year sales), despite FF15 etc..

Well DQ11 and YW3 + Pokemon is going to kinda guarantee PS4 wont beat 3ds if u ask me except if NX suddenly pop out and kill 3ds here.
