IMPORTANT, please read it.
This is my first serious, important thread on GAF.

It's an honour having the chance to write MC Threads and I know very well I won't be able to replicate the glorious times of Chris and his posts.

But I'll do my best to share data with GAF users and, with the aid of other great people (Silpheed and Tadaima, thanks for helping me), we aim to improve the thread (in both data and text formatting).

Consider this a temporary thread: the format is not definitive, data will be added during the next days and ultimately, if this kind of thread isn't appreciated from GAF community I'll gladly step aside in favor of other user, more experienced with sales discussions and thread formatting. No objections :)

The priority is giving GAF a new MC Thread series and the possibility to discuss Japan sales; everything can be (must be) improved and I hope it will be :)

Thank you for your patience and prepare for Mario Odyssey impact on Japan.

Wow, ps4 > switch, for the whole 200 units. Legendary numbers
Nintendo is doomed, just like neogaf.

Talking of which: Been on gaf for more then 12 years and this is the thread I always read, every week even when I was super busy with work and life (member since 2006, lurker before). I came from Planetcrap, a small online community that included some now veterans in the dev world who worked for Raven, Ubisoft and Epic back then. Ironically that community died after an outfall between members thus bringing me here.
The whole evilore shitstory is terrible, the way he handled it is even worse (for the community) and also makes him look like the cunt he is, last some of the alt-accounts and lurkers that jumped out of the gutters these last days are despicable. I don't believe anything good can come from this place in the future, which means I'm obviously leaving.

Anyways - instead of creating a ban-thread (many of which are hilarious) I think a simple goodbye in the next media create would be more fitting.
So see you guys in another era and with this I say goodbye to GAF. So long and thanks for all the gifs.

(she's bi)

EDIT: thanks for doing a great job regardless PantsuJo

You should add the different versions of the same consoles up in the top section and then separate them in the bottom section for readability.

Whilst i'm not expecting to post here any longer, I did want to come in and say good job filling in for Chris PantsuJo.

Anybody know who I need to ask for an invite to the new place?

I think the idea will be to match the formatting of Chris' threads entirely for archival purposes.
Yes, this is the idea.

Also, everyone: thank you for your support and for understanding, it's my first big thread here and I'm a bit excited :)

Wow. Great week for PS4 software, but not much of a bump for the hardware. I guess it really has hit its' base.

I wonder if a lot of Switch stock was held for a Mario bundle later this week or if they just didn’t sell out last week.

Also seems like Gran Turismo Sport helped boost the PS4 in a big way. I enjoy the game but not as much as previous entries.

Yep, that seems to be the best course of action. And thanks for the work you three.

No idea if those are good numbers for Itadaki Street but at least the gameplay is pretty fun to watch.

I wonder if a lot of Switch stock was held for a Mario bundle later this week or if they just didn’t sell out last week.
Supposedly they are still sold out

With the Switch we have seen numerous examples of the numbers dipping down the week before a big release (low stock)

Good stuff PantsuJo, Hiska and silpheed-mcd for your contributions. In regards to sales this week, lull for Switch before Mario.

Can you add notable releases for next week to the OP?

Thank you for keeping this up. This is a lot of work and many of us do not have access to Discord or whatever so I would like to keep up with this. It's good discussion.

Since no other market shares numbers the way Japan does, I've always gravitated towards it. M-C threads have gradually grown as NPD has declined over the last two years. As the last refuge of real numbers you've got a big job ahead of you Pantsu - good luck bud

Good job on the thread! I hope the changes makes the thread more sales focused and less of an Nintendo circle jerk.

GT Sport did a lot better than most people would've guessed in this day and age. Good for them.

Who are these "most people"?
GTS opening week is in line with the supposed decline of the series in Japan.

Good job and thanks for creating this topic PantsuJo!

04./00. [PS4] Itadaki Street: Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary (Square Enix, 10/19/17) – 42.092 *NEW*
06./00. [PSV] Itadaki Street: Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary (Square Enix, 10/19/17) – 18.784 *NEW*
06./00. [WII] Itadaki Street Wii <TBL> (Square Enix) {2011.12.01} (¥6.090) - 27.640 / NEW
Nice debut for Itadaki Street: Dragon Quest & Final Fantasy 30th Anniversary. While a far cry from what the series did on PS2 and DS, it managed to sell more than its previous entry on Wii. Hopefully it'll top 100K total.
