I'm pretty sure that despite how bad those movies are they made their money back and then some by the time they were out of theaters.Well, releasing movies that keep bombing out of spite seems like a bad business decision.

He may very well have been, but I'm sure Tom Hardy could do an amazing job as Luke Cage as well
Oh, that's not bad.
But Brad Bird needs to direct a super hero movie
Fox is gambling big here. They've got nothing to lose. They are rebooting a property they fucked up to begin with. Damaged it further with a sequel. Now they are throwing in a casting decision(s) that are desperate to say the least. Instead of getting press that will be positive by say announcing a plot direction to get people excited; they are instead trying to generate hype by stunt casting.
If it takes great, Fox Wins! If it doesn't Fox loses a property they no longer want after 3 failed attempts.
Fox wins again because then the property reverts back to Marvel. Damaged in the public eye. Another reboot even done properly by the people that care might not generate excitement.
If every black guy that read for the role was utterly fucking crap and tom hardy was good, I'd have no problem with this.
I would rather Johnny be the blue eyed blonde hearththrob from the pages of the comics. But this is an adaptation and his ethnicity ir blood relation to Sue doesn't really change the character. In fact the adopted angle can soemtimes make the sibling relationship stronger from a stroytelling point of view. A real change would be making him an edgy emo teen.
One point of concern if it is Johnny that is the adopted sibling is the writers migh feel they need to explore that angle. Adding emotional baggage the character doesn't need. If he ignores his past it might come off as more heartless than intended.
I do remember plenty of bitching when Alba was cast as Sue. The thing is (HAHA), comic-book movies were a lot smaller back then. I'm sure there things would be noiser these days.
That said, brunette Alba is superior Alba.
again, considering Jordan was the first actor pursued, the first actor signed, and so far, the entire focus of ANY news regarding this movie, it's more than possible that this is a take on the Four that focuses more on him than Reed.
People seem to be dismissing this out of hand, but they also seem to be the same people consistently misusing big words in attempt to make their closed-mindedness sound "smart" somehow.
What if...Sue is the adopted child?
I assumed that's because Jordan and Trank are pals, not necessarily because the movie revolves around Johnny and he wanted to nail that down first.
Adoption would be a cheap cop-out. Maybe interracial parents?
It's insane and even partly infuriating to read people trying to come up with possibilities, wonder how, while trying their best to ignore the one answer that is likely the most simple and straight forward.
Marvel proved with The Hulk that the public is willing to embrace a character once it's finally done right.
So hopefully after this bombs they'll get a crack at it.
The blue contacts she had were horrible.
They should have gotten Chris Evans for Human Torch again, but wearing his Captain America suit all the time, then when people points out the he is wearing Cap's suit he'll be like: "I Don't know what are you talking about".
I'll pay top dollars for that movie.
Are you referring to The Incredible Hulk or The Avengers? Because both Hulk films made about the same amount of money and had about the same amount of critical reception as well.
Yeah, but even if we're following that train of thought: if Jordan and Trank are pals - why wouldn't Trank shift the focus to make the movie more about his friend?
Unless they do the comic story line whereA movie that focused primarily on Johnny Storm would get...tiresome.

Unless they do the comic story line whereit'll probably be tiresome. Mr. Fantastic has to be the driving force behind a Fantastic Four movie in most scenarios. He beats the shit of Annihilus and keeps him as a pet
But considering they're basing this off the Ultimate line I doubt it'll happen.
I can't picture Kate with Sue's blonde hair. Biggest problem for me. Bigger than some dude playing Mr Fantastic that hasn't had a certain part of his body stretch before. Or Ben Grimm being played by a brah not from Yancy Street.

The bitching about Jordan being Johnny is gonna be crazy. When Donald Glover was rumored to be cast as Spiderman people were mad. Even on GAF the racism was coming out over the rumor of Donald Glover. I would imagine that the Johnny Storm casting is gonna be a wave of bullshit up until the release of the movie.

That sounds kind of hilarious. I would actually watch bale play Malcolm X. He would have to be just as pro black community as him.I just saw in a Facebook comment a comparison between this and casting Christian Bale as Malcolm X in a biopic.
Who says she has to be blonde?
Not going to happen, but it would be a nice change for a Hollywood movie.
