Metal Gear Solid V PC Performance Thread

i5 - 3750K @ 4.4 GHZ
MSI GTX 970 4G overclocked (core +150, mem +320)
8GB RAM

All settings maxed out, down sampled not to 4k but to the lesser one, running rock steady 60fps all the time, this new video card is just cutting trough this game like a hot knife trough butter and it looks stunning, my only complain is that I would like to tone down DoF a little, without sacrificing any other effect.

Ok, something for laptop users:

Razer Edge
i5 3317u
4gb DDR3
GT 640m LE (oced to 635mhz)
Win 8.1
1366*768

All high i get around 45fps, even spikes into low 60's.
With a bit of messing i can do very high (except Anti Aliasing and shadows to high) and stay above 30, around 35 of average.

Steam id is: kingpinzero (as proof of purchase)

Desktop:

i7 3770k @ 4.6
8gb DDR3 G.Skill Ares
780ti Zotac Amp!
Win 8.1
1080p 120hz lightboosted
Maxed out

Pretty much rock solid 60fps.

Hope it helps!

This thread just made me buy the game and I've never played a MGS game before. Can't wait to play it in January once I get back home.

After trying to play this maxed on my 670, I think I've come to the conclusion that I need to upgrade.

Feels like Metal Gear Slideshow V

Okay I just got the game.

My Specs: i5 4670K @ 4.5, R9 290 @ 1007/1400

My settings (including SMAA via RadeonPro):

mgsgroundzeroes.exe_2jtuha.png

With these settings I'm getting 50-60 fps, which is better than I thought. I'm anticipating that AMD's performance drivers to allow me to play at 2560x1600 with all of the settings maxed out instead of mixed. From my short time playing, I think I'm going to have a lot of fun with this "demo."

I don't have the game on PC so apologizes for posting here but I'm really curious, what OSD do you use for the top-left? :o And I'm glad that the port performs really well, I might double-dip during the Steam Sale seeing that I liked it on my PS4 already :D

To play new games on max settings, yes. A GTX 670 will probably play this game at 60 FPS no problem though if you lower something like SSAO down to high.

I use the built-in OSD from RadeonPro. For some reason it isn't showing VRAM usage though:

Ah okay thanks! I asked because I normally use MSI Afterburner for my OSD need and yours looks much nicer though I never managed to get the OSD from RadeonPro work consistently :/

I would say that the MSI OSD is better because it shows more info but I use the one in RadeonPro when I can.

i5 2550k, 780 and 8gb or RAM gives me max settings at 60 FPS. It looks great... enjoying it despite having gotten S rank on all the PS4 missions already.

Yeah nothing can beat Afterburner in the functionality department just the looks are a bit eh but okay I don't want to derail this thread, thanks again! :)

You can change color and size for the MSI osd, if that's what you don't like about it. I think there's an 'advanced settings' button somewhere in the osd settings that will take you to it.

I do with they let us change the way and the order that info is displayed though.

If you click and drag the boxes for each (the GPU temp bar that's highlighted in blue in the pic below), you can change the display order.

Intel I7 5820K (3.3GHZ no OC)
16GB Ram DDR4
GTX 680

All settings Extra High running at 1600x900

I got a constant 60fps during the introduction cutscene and I stirred some shit up on the very beginning and I didn't notice it dropping below 60. I haven't gone to the middle area with all the spotlights yet so that might be an entirely different experience. So far however, the 680 has behaved admirably and I find myself wishing it had more vram because its still one hell of a graphics card.

As a side note, I really like how they implemented the mouse+keyboard controls, surprisingly intuitive.

Using a 290X and fellow AMD brothers, please do not select any resolution higher than 1200p/1080p. It seem there is a huge performance drop if you do.

I am at 1920x1200 all extra high except for SSAO which is at high. I am getting 60fps with such settings. Turing SSAO to extra high makes my fps drops to between 55-60fps.

If i select 2560x1600, i get 40ish fps. I think a simple performance fix will do it for AMD.

Yay for 16:10! Great port btw. I can switch graphics settings in game without having to restart!

Q6600
2gb ram
Amd 6870 1gb

Playing at 1368 * something res with mix of medium and low setting. Ssao off and getting pretty good framerate.

Good job Konami

My specs:

i5 3570k @ 3.4 GHz
MSI GTX 660 Ti 2GB
8GB RAM
1080p

the average is 47 fps with all settings at very high! I'm pretty satisfied with the performance.

You should turn down your resolution and turn everything (besides SSAO) to extra high. You will get 60fps with the added graphics niceties. The extra resolution dont seem to matter at first glance.

This runs like a dream on my GTX 680 with everything maxed. So nice to finally have a PC port where it's obvious the devs took time to optimize things.

So does everybody here have overclocked 970s? Or are they saying "kinda 60fps with dips" and "locked 60" are the same thing?

Both, I think.
I'm at 1466Mhz right now, for reference.

Day-time gave me additional framedrops, had to lower shadow quality to high to make the framerate counter climb up to 60fps.

So on a 280X@1080p, that's Textures, Model Detail and Special Effects that's on extra high, everything else had to be lowered to high to acheive a "locked" 60fps. I say "locked" because I get random half-a-second stutters during the cut-scenes. I'm quite annoyed with that. I might end up getting a PS4 to play a version of this game that actually has a locked framerate.

p.s. there are no bokeh effects on AMD, this is not what this scene looks like on my PC:

Weird oversight: if you alt-tab on Windows 7 a distracting "loading" mouse icon remains on screen when you go back to the game. This is using borderless fullscreen.

I'm getting a tiny, tiny, TINY-ass stutter every once in a while that doesn't seem to be framerate related. I'm assuming this is just a loading thing? I'm on an HDD. You pretty much need superhuman powers to notice it, but I'm just curious if it can be fixed 'cause Im OCD. Triple buffer didn't seem to do anything.

970.

edit: changing my power plan to from "balanced" to "performance" fixed it!

Have you tried enabling vsync through inspector/control panel? I currently have 60hz vsync + maximum pre-rendered frames set to "2" via inspector, and I cannot detect any stutter whatsoever. You know, my OCD dictates that I shall never enable in-game vsync in any games, ever. ;-)

GTX 980 here, btw. Good luck!

no idea if it'll work on your machine, but clicking the mouse then nudging a stick/pressing a button on the controller gets rid of the loading icon on my PC.

as for the other stuff, maybe hold out for some drivers? i know the 'AMD has sucky drivers' thing is a played out myth, but generally nvidia cards end up getting better performance in the first week(s).

seems to have fixed it about 99%. thanks!

Not using the latest drivers because non WHQL drivers have been a bust recently.

I7-4790k
GTX670 FTW

60fps @ 1080p everything on high.
48-60fps @ 1080p everything on Extreme.

Did anyone of you check the brightness setting? It says the right image shouldn't be visible, but for that, I have to turn the brightness completly to 0 which seems a bit odd...

That stuff never worked for.
Never ever.
Here the right side is still perfectly visible when turned to the left completely.

i'm blown away with metal gear slid ground zeroes opening credit on pc.. 60 FPS. can't believe this cutscene is running in real time. blows away any other "next gen" games graphics. wow , i'm so impressed with the rain effects on these guys... hats off kojima

okay im getting some serious problems here. sometimes its 60fps and then randomly it drops down to 20-30 in the exact same area. whats going on

Using an i5 3570k @ 3.4GHz and a GTX 670 4GB. With everything set to very high but only at 1080p, I'm getting 45-60 fps. It spends more time at 60 fps than it doesn't, but I still think I'm going to turn some stuff down and get it stable.

Posted the same question in the OT so pardon me, but anyone gotten SweetFX working on this? I can't seem to get the fucking thing to work on much of anything lately. I have Windows 8.1, DircetX is up to date, and I'm not running GeForce experience.

Mouse movement seems to make the game feel really sluggish for some reason. Feels like a framerate drop but I didn't check.

And the temperatures are pretty strange, just instantly goes up to 70C.

i7 2600K @ ~4.5Ghz
eVGA GTX 580 1.5GBVRAM
8GB RAM
1920x1080

geForce Experience recommended extra high for most things. I was pretty surprised, considering my PC is nearly 4 years old. (built right when Sandy Bridge CPUs came out after that 2-3 month delay at the beginning of 2011).

I don't have an FPS meter but I'm noticing very few dips or ticks.. mostly pretty smooth. For a GPU that doesn't even appear on most benchmarks anymore, that's pretty good.

just get fraps!

i5 760 2.8gHz, GTX 770 2GB, 4GB RAM

Playing at 1900x1200. With beta drivers. Maxed out it stays in the low 50s. Set everything to High and it is completely locked at 60 fps.

Good work cacpcom! Even my old ass i5 and low ram does a great job with it! :)
