Eh. Glad to see Microsoft is succeeding, but still needs to apply pressure to attempt to win (sales wise).
LMAO. Yup, just as the McDonalds worker is "succeeding" because they receive a pay check each week...

Just to clarify for everyone, there are no hard numbers for what MS has sold through to consumers
Most popular guesstimate is 4.2M though but could be as high as 4.6M/4.7M imo
lol, you wish. Keep dreaming, dreamer.

Very very doubtful. 4M-4.2M is a rational expectation for me.
No one has ever talked about sell through to consumers before Sony started this past holiday season, whether it be Sony, Microsoft, or Nintendo. The only figure we traditionally get from them is this shipment figure during quarterly reports. Anyone who has followed Sales-Age for more than a year knows this. This isn't some trickery by Microsoft, it's been standard practice in the game industry for decades now.
But no, the sales/shipments are in no way bad. If you go into older GAF threads about shipments actually you will see that no one here ever thought they'd reach this milestone before April by the way:

Just sayin.
Those are actually good numbers for Microsoft.
I hope they keep on doing alright, and improve if possible.
It's not good for gamers for a single company to dominate the market.
Question, why does the Dreamcast never exist when we talk about that generation?
every goddamn time, you're not the only one btw.
I guess Micros$ft is happy with "minimum wage."
Well titanfall wouldn't exist if MS didn't step in and fund development.
Agreed. While their investors may keep Xbox One around this generation (by most likely spinning the division off), I think we can most likely say that they'll cancel R&D for the 4th Xbox console. They're not gonna tolerate more big losses of the Xbox brand for the third generation in a row.
I'd have gone with MacroShaft, personally, but it's a matter of taste.I guess Micros$ft is happy with "minimum wage."
Sigh. There's always one.
Absolute garbage to quell investor fears. That is a meaningless quote.
Those hours could be benefitting Netflix more than MS.
I guess Micros$ft is happy with "minimum wage."
I mean for gaming.
Someone always makes a mistake. We thought MS will learn from Sony mistakes and they didnt. Also we dont know if the same people at sony now will be there down the round in 10 yrs. A lot can change in that amount of time.
postcyberpunk messed up
I can't decide if it would have been more or less amusing if he had actually done it correctly.
Gonna go with less.

No one expected Sony to reach this number as well, so that's not saying much tbh.

Was the Dreamcast an accessory for the Saturn?
This "If You Ain't First, You're Last!" messaging needs to die. Both exceeded expectations for their companies, it's just that the PS4 exceeded them by a wider margin.
France + Germany alone are about half the US market size.
At its price and with how few markets its available in, that's pretty damn good.
Kicking ass, taking names, and returning to the crown 👑.If MS is succeeding what is Sony doing with PS4?

I don't know Miles. I don't think I've ever seen someone misspell with a dollar sign before
That seems new to me lol
Microsoft completely funded Titanfall? Then why wouldn't they also publish?
Europe was way bigger market for PS3 than US.

Where would you estimate those extra half million consoles sold? There is no place Microsoft can rely on to pick up slacking sales outside of the US.
Hah, I only just noticed the mistake. Amazing.
Not dreaming. We're talking about the reality of the issue. They're not going to keep plucking down billions of dollars into the brand without making back a big return in profitability, no matter how much money that MS has.
What I got from Sony domination was a console capable of playing all PS1, PS2, and PS3 games. A $600 blu-ray player when blu-ray players were $1000. The only console with HDMI output. The only console capable of lossless sound and DTS sound in games. The only HD console with wifi capability. They provided 3x the HDD space of their main competitor. They provided the capability to upgrade the HDD to whatever size you wanted within the physical dimension limitations.
What I got cost Sony $850 BOM to build and they only charged $600 for it.
Yes, their PR was arrogant and they glossed over omissions like rumble by claiming it was a "last gen feature" and told people to get a second job to afford the system. (If I built something for $850 and tried to sell it for $600 and everyone told me it was still too expensive, I'd probably get upset too)
But the console itself outside of the blunder that was Cell, was a beast of value. And I didn't even buy the PS3 to game. I bought it ONLY for blu-ray and it was an incredible value. 360 was my gaming console of choice last gen.
For ps2 the u.s was a bigger market for them.
For ps2 the u.s was a bigger market for them.
This is what I'm saying, the X1 had so much going against it, it's a true champion. Also the fact it is not biodegradable, components it uses are made from rare precious earth metals, and it causes leprosy these are GREAT sales!
As far as I know it was equal:
50 million each. EU might of edged it.
They arent taking a loss for xbox one.
About the same, actually. From what I can find, the PS2 sold around 50 million each in North America and Europe.

Nah i believe U.S edged it.
Microsoft, it's time to release the nuke:
kinectless SKU

Long story, but you should spend the 1.99 and go read the Final Hours of Titanfall.
In the end, EA had funded development through its original $30M investment in Respawn. By 2011 there was no game to show and the cash was used up. EA wanted to pull the plug, unless Respawn found cash. Respawn approached Sony and MS. Sony offered funding if they made a Vita game, MS offered up the cash with an understanding that the game would release first on Xbox consoles if they funded. Respawn being a small team took the cash and realized that it would be difficult to make multiple versions anyway.
Well if they want nuke themselves they can do that
Even if that was the case you think they will keep doing that. Chances are it will be till an official price cut happens.I have serious doubts retailers all dropped the TF bundles to $450 without some rebate by MS
If true, MS ate $50 on every $450 TF bundle sold plus the $20 - $30 for the copy of TF
PS2 LTD in the US was just shy of 46M before it stopped being tracked in like 2010
I would say Europe was probably higher than 50% of PS2's WW LTD
