Incoming this generation: The feel of 1080p.
"resolution is not the thing that maximises beauty"
Sounds like Nintendo, eh. Wow. This is bad.
Kinda sounds like they're bracing themselves for impact.
If it was 1080p they'd make a big deal about it.Geez, you're a cynical bunch. lol
Edit - Wait, is it actually confirmed to be 720p?
Best Xbox news of the day.
Why is 720p "lolz"? I dont think that will be any big issue.
Was it? Because PGR and CoD launched on 360 day one, and were sub-HD, weren't they? That was a requirement for all 360 games for the first few years of the console, then MS took that requirement away. It's not really news.

Although 60fps was expected, its nice to hear.
I dont agree with it being a blurry mess, but 1080p would give a more crips image, that is true. I dont think 720p will be a problem though, i think it will still look great. I also expect many PS4 and Xbox One games to be running at 720p.Because a 720p image on a 1080p display is always going to be a blurry mess, no matter how many graphical effects you throw at it.

pretty sure forza is 1080p. They've put out 1080p screenshots

720p 60 fps then?
Welcome to the official 'how to read between the lines' thread.
pretty sure forza is 1080p.
Save your money then because sub 1080p is inevitable for both consoles.
Surely you don't believe that's a direct feed screenshot?
That is a safe guess.60 fps is great but from that statement, you know that it's not going to be native 1920x1080.
No idea what resolution they were back then, all I remember was that there was a requirement.

Some rule that was. Exceptions from day one.Of course, some games that have skirted this specific TCR have still been allowed on the system; the most notable being Microsoft's own Halo 3, which runs at 1152x640 (progressive).
Shit just got real.
I mean, those words were chosen very carefully. Wow.
I wasn't too concerned about yields etcc (whether they are true or false), but sub HD...
I thought the trailer was confirmed to be entirely in-game, which that image is taken from.

The pre-rendered CG movie of how gameplay might have looked like in a better world, streamed at 60 FPS out of MS' cloud service, sure is.
Even current-gen racing games produce awesome in-engine movies. As long as we do not see actual gameplay, trust is pre-mature.
Was there ever any doubt? Street Fighter 5 isn't even announced yet, and I can confirm it runs at 60fps.

Huh?
Seems like we'll be reading between the scan lines.
I think 1080p/60fps will be rare on PS4

Nothing is truly beautiful if you're running a game below your display's native resolution. What you get is a blurry jagged mess at 720p. Microsoft is truly incompetent if their games are not going to be 1080p.
