I don't know why people don't want to get the best operating system to date
and before I hear "BUT DATA MINING", 7 does that shit too
With 7 you have better control over preventing it. With Windows 10 the verdict is still pending.

I like 10 but it's really annoying that they removed the "Copy path to clipboard" option when you click right on a file as we use it all the time at work. If I click right while pressing Shift, which in itself is annoying, I get "Copy as path," which copies the path but adds quotation marks at the beginning and at the end of the link. Supremely annoying because there is no valid reason to remove this option. I don't get why they did this, it's completely illogical.
If you set up an alarm on your Windows, and you click on the red x on the alarm window, does it cancel the alarm?
The auto-upgrading is shady, but the red x not canceling the scheduled update isn't. It's working as intended.
Hell, it even says "click here to cancel" on the same window. If people won't even bother to read, then it's hard to feel sorry for them.
Basically, we should shit on MS for the scheduling, not because a red X is doing its job.
that's genius and so practical.
I get it that this is a 'freedom' issue for some people. But I don't get it. the OS is by far better, stability is good and windows 7 shows its age all over the place. but I didn't get the 'i'm not upgrading to 7! i HAVE XP' people either. The OS was leagues ahead in that case also. People just like old and shitty computers I guess.
I actually understand MS being so aggressive in this instance, people are stupid in mobs and getting to one supported OS will improve stability for the group. Yeah it's painful, but at a certain point you have to just say 'fuck the laggards' and get it done.
Are you sure that wasn't a third-party shell extension?
Pretty fucking ridiculous some posters still can't figure out why people wouldn't want to have their OS forcibly changed on them.
Some peoples posts read like advertisements at this point, especially the gaming thread where people were making the usual pro-arguments without even reading the OP and later posts.
True story.
If X means dismiss, then where's the option to say no? I can't see one on that screenshot.

Microsoft's real mistake was ever giving users of the Windows service any control over updates.
Hopefully in the future updates with the significance of Windows 10 will be installed automatically with no need for tricks, because all service users will have agreed that Microsoft can install anything.
Personally, Windows 10 was a huge performance increase.
But the spyware/shared download thing are all things you opt-out of during installation or once installed.
I'd recommend shared downloads because it increases your download speeds and doesn't really tax you on upload.
This is horrible, I don't get how people can defend these misleading draconian practices

i paid for Windows 7, can i use Windows 7 please?
So weird people complaining about a free upgrade that soon will cost money. At least Microsoft is trying hard to ensure users upgrade for free.
Let the consumer easily choose what they want, damn it!
It's fucking ridiculous all the trouble some people go through just to avoid a free upgrade to one of the best Windows ever made.
Windows 8.1 is the best windows at the moment. But ten is still great, much better than 7.
I see tons of people running Windows 8 on their crappy laptops at my college, and they're clearly not the types of people who have a real need staying with it. The fact that the Windows 10 upgrade wave hasn't hit them yet is the most surprising thing.

Good explanation of voat user CheesusCrust's telemetry analysis.
ZDNet author said:Other content that gets delivered securely over port 443 includes Windows updates, Windows Defender updates, and updates from the Windows Store for apps that are provisioned on every Windows 10 machine. Windows 10 attempts to contact OneDrive, also securely, to see if there are any saved settings for the current user. There are lists of known malicious websites that get delivered to the SmartScreen service in a hashed and encrypted format.
And yes, there is certainly some telemetry data in there.
Just goddamn upgrade already, it has everything in 7 & 8 and better. Peeps like you are holding us back and that's why I'm not seeing many DX12 titles.
I bet you most of the people who are making thoughtless comments like "just upgrade already" "it's the best OS yet" actually have no idea and/or don't work in the IT industry.
Just because you upgraded or fresh installed one time doesn't make it great for everyone.
If you work in IT you already know the issues it brings and you wouldn't be saying this.
Also, can you even use your pre-existing 7/8 license in a dual boot with an upgraded 10 or does it invalidate the other? I don't even want to try for giggles because it means wasting my time. 10 won't run a lot of things for me as it won't a lot of customers bespoke software/hardware, or rarely used software.
Tons of businesses still rely on older operating systems too; imagine the hassle of upgrading hundreds of users in a business environment with the issues it would bring with certain software and/or drivers. There's a reason.
People jumping aboard at the first sign like first adopters, great thanks for testing for me; you've all shown me why I'm not following for now, the amount of customers we get with win10 issues every single working day is great for business though. So Microsoft, keep messing up because it's making us money.
Most common is software not working/not being supports, anti-virus being completely nuked and wireless drivers that were working on win10 having an automatic update to a version that does not work. Fucking stupidity of the highest order.
There was even a time disabling driver updates wouldn't actually work either, but that's fixed. At least last I knew.
Just goddamn upgrade already, it has everything in 7 & 8 and better. Peeps like you are holding us back and that's why I'm not seeing many DX12 titles.
Don't you dare blame me.Just goddamn upgrade already, it has everything in 7 & 8 and better. Peeps like you are holding us back and that's why I'm not seeing many DX12 titles.
Windows 7/8 people are now getting this popup informing you of a pending Windows 10 upgrade.
A lot of people don't thoroughly read the popup and assume clicking the red X will cancel the upgrade. However, it only closes the popup, and will go ahead and install Windows 10 while you're sleeping.
So a lot of people are waking up to a new OS they didn't authorize.
The only way to actually cancel the upgrade is by clicking the tiny one-word link under the huge date. Clicking anything else means "go ahead and upgrade me."

Microsoft makes final, aggressive Windows 10 upgrade push
PSA: Closing the "Upgrade to Windows 10" box now counts as ACCEPTING the update, which will automatically occur 15 minutes after logging in unless canceled
you are making the rest of our systems insecure.
