It would be the worst thing possible for PC gaming. Steam (and Valve in general) is the only thing keeping Microsoft in check as far as PC gaming is concerned. People want the company who have tried to force UWP and Xbox Live Gold on PC gamers having control of the space?
The only people who would like/want this are the Xbox fanboys masquerading as PC gamers and Xbox fanboys who have never touched a gaming PC in their lives before.
Epic and CDPR would be licking their lips if something like this ever came to pass.
That's not how it works.
This would be huge for small indie developers and Publishers because Microsoft now allows you to earn 100% Revenue from Apps and 12% fee from Games on PC.
I do know, because he is already going to retire as a bilionaireWhy wouldn't he? How do you know he is not ready to retire with a big bag of cash?
50 years from now I dont even know if humans will still exist. Anything goes.Anything can change, within time. Gabe won't last for another 50 years. Microsoft will acquire Valve is some other form...
While that's true - user experience is an integral part of any products/service, and that's where GoG isn't superior, regardless of how you chose to use it.Steam is limiting what you can do with your purchased product, GoG isn't.
You have me sold OP, I 100% believe you.
MS are buying Valve next guys.
Your whole argument stands on something that happened almost two decades ago. And have nothing to do with today’s company’s policy, strategy and management. It would be the worst thing possible for PC gaming. What is this massive acquisition that's being rumored then?
Thanks I needed a good laugh

Then you go and call people fanboys.
Hmm
I would say bullshit. Nobody had any idea about the Bethesda’s acquisition. What is this massive acquisition that's being rumored then?
Microsoft already has a Deck. They call it a Surface.Microsoft Deck. Windows Deck. Xbox One Series Deck.
You're talking about the only major platform holder who has a public email and replies to fans. If Gabe say's no, he means no.lmfao how cute. if MS was gonna buy valve gabe wouldn't say shit. i know valve is private but MS ain't.
believe it if you want to "rest peacefully" but you'd be stupid and naive to trust his word over an email to some stranger (no offence...)
Has there been any news saying that isn't how LinkedIn or GitHub are operating? They both have changed for the betterBecause I don't trust Microsoft to allow to work as they do now. Could it start off that way? Sure, but I don't personally have the confidence that it would stay that way.
Can you elaborate on that? Why would you pass on your hobbie just because someone you don't like bought your preferred way of play?Day Steam gets sold to MS is the day I never pay for another PC game again.
What it boils down to with me is that Valve have been stellar when it comes to PC gaming. Microsoft don't have that track record. Do you think Microsoft acquiring Valve would be good news? What do you think it would change?
No, Valve/Steam isn't being bought by Microsoft. Can we all stop worrying now?
or the exclusivity deal Epic wants with Sony - or the majority of Fortnite income coming from PlayStation platforms. Epic is sucking hard on that Sony titty
Why you laughing like a demented hyena? I don't believe this Valve/Steam rumor but why are people tweeting about a massive acquisition for? You just think its all made up?
Nice try at diverting the latest GeForce Now leak. Those PS games are from Epic Games undoubtedly. Locked down, like a little biiiatch!Nice try at a recovery, pc deal epic wanted just to expand the epic store, and sony rejected them, so that's a nothingburger. So what if epic gets revenue from Sony platforms, Sony hadn't "locked down" anything there other than normal business.
Why you laughing like a demented hyena? I don't believe this Valve/Steam rumor but why are people tweeting about a massive acquisition for? You just think its all made up?
No. You don't. People do tire out of things and will leave something so they can ride off into the sunset. It's not like Valve is doing anything exciting.I do know, because he is already going to retire as a bilionaire
Again: he doesnt need to sell Valve to do whatever the fuck he wantsNo. You don't. People do tire out of things and will leave something so they can ride off into the sunset. It's not like Valve is doing anything exciting.
You are correct that Gabe is a billionaire either way, but being able to sell Valve and pocket god knows how many billions can free him up for other interests he may have.
Not saying it will happen or that it is even likely, but it's quite common for people to tire out of things even if they are successful so they can pursue other interests.
You clearly know nothing about running a business....Again: he doesnt need to sell Valve to do whatever the fuck he wants
Dude has time to answer e-mails that random people from the internet send him
I think that he has enough time to pursue other interests today
So... this is the second time he actually bothers to respond to you with the same reply in three years?
Starting to think these are just fakes.
Microsoft is NOT buying Valve. Yes, Gabe actually responded. | ResetEra
Yeah, and I'm clearly talking to a billionaire hereYou clearly know nothing about running a business....
Yeah it's their best chance at competingEpic would love this to happen.
You're talking to somebody who has been part of a business. Even a hands off owner has to attend meetings, deal with regulators, make important decisions etc. Owning a multi-billion dollar business, isn't stress free and sitting on your ass, regardless of successful the business is. So no, Gabe doesn't have a stress-free life. He has to make decisions every single day that can affect the livelihoods of 1000s of employees. For example, Steam Deck. There is no telling how many millions of dollars were invested in that. That isn't a chump change decision. Tons of stuff goes on behind the scenes that neither you nor I have any clue about.Yeah, and I'm clearly talking to a billionaire here
So lets just agree to disagree then
