Indeed. I watched the very first footage of the game, and I'm pretty sure it was a 2D game.
I am somewhat shocked that they went 3D for the relase, in a positive manner.

Different as you have to dash through enemies to get kills easier. Gunvolt plays more like Mega Man Zero and Mega Man ZX as M9 is looking more like the original Mega Man games with a dash instead of a slide.

I hope that is just the 3DS version
