It makes some sense on the Wii U. The engine and assets are already there, just need to make some more maps and change up gameplay a bit.

But the foundations are there to save a bunch of work.

Once again, the 3DS as a whole is on its way out. The n3DS is looking to be nothing more than a stopgap. The NX Handheld is what this game will most likely be on if any handheld is to get a Pikmin game.

while I said, it makes no financial or business sense, it does make sense to release it on WiiU if it's a case similar to Mario Galaxy, in which they had so much extra worthy material, that it was not possible to release it as DLC.

I can see it happening, but even then, I can't see Nintendo releasing this only on WiiU with no NX sku if it's around the same launch period.

well, pikmin 3 is very generous with the time limit they give you, which i think is about 100 days, and you get so much juice that you will survive even if you fuck it up a lot. I got super anxious playing pikmin before, but i kind of got the way the game plays and it even became a relaxing experience for me. I hope you manage to enjoy pikmin 1 and 3 because they are really good games =)

I don't know pikmin is one of those experimental type games that you can probably test new ideas out on for a launch. Miyamoto also seems to love it which is probably why it continues

If by chance Pikmin 4 and Zelda are NX launch titles Nintendo will be personally redeemed in eternity for their past errors and software droughts. Would be the most Megatonish launch ever, I think. (add a SSB Deluxe in launch window for the cherry on top)

I find it strange that people assume that if it comes to Wii U, it has to also come to NX. Cross generational ports aren't exactly commonplace for Nintendo. Plus, the NX could be backwards compatible like the last two Nintendo consoles which almost defeats the purpose. I'm thinking that this is going to be a Wii U title even though Nintendo has clearly moved on. They're likely reusing a lot of assets. Zelda on the other hand...

I'd be astonished if this wasn't pencilled in as an NX title by this point. If it was a Wii U title, and if it's in anything like the state Miyamoto says it is, it absolutely would have been at E3.

Miyamoto is obsessed with it for some reason. No matter how bad the games sell, they keep trying to push it like it's some major IP in the same league as Mario and Zelda. Unless the NX is further along than we thought, my bold prediction is that it will be a Wii U title using recycled assets from Pikmin 3. Retro is also working on a third Donkey Kong Country title that borrows assets from Tropical Freeze and features the return of King K. Rool. Also for Wii U. Given their track record when it comes to end of console support, I can see Nintendo releasing the NX in 2017 and riding off of Pikmin, DK, and Zelda for 1-2 years, as sad as that sounds.

I'm hoping this is as pikmin 2 was to pikmin 1. Bigger, much larger area (if we're counting the caves, which we totally are), no time limit, and way more treasures, bosses, and generally all the good stuff.
