This is the weirdest thing to me, and I can't figure out why.

Their mobile titles are supposed to be unveiled soon though right? Some have speculated in here that it could be mobile, and I still think it's a long shot, but the timing might fit? A B/C-tier IP that is suitable for touch controls that might be able to find a larger audience elsewhere... but then again, I would assume their mobile efforts won't be so large-scale as numbered sequels to established franchises.

Well right, the NX Console - NX Hand Held is another guess. But at the same time, what value does Pikmin have as a launch title? I don't get the persistence of the series over other EAD IPs.

Yeah, Pikmin as a launch title don't make a lot of sense, it's sells great but not a system seller. Launch day need big games.
So I'll guess Wii U version then ported to NX handheld/console.

Pikmin games have a history of getting ported to the latest console so even if P4 was for WiiU I can see an NX port will a little more polished textures get a release

a) I'm pretty damn happy, who cares about the reveal, and
b) Plans at Nintendo, including Directs, have obviously been disrupted recently, so it's perfectly understandable.

I think Pikmin having a whole team dedicated to it seems like a waste, personally along Animal Crossing, Pikmin is the active Nintendo franchise I care the least for, I got Pikmin 3 for free during that Mario Kart 8 promotion and I thought it was fine but a bit lacking.

EAD 4 made Pikmin 3 and NSMB games. I think Pikmin 3 was originally being developed for the Wii and the game probably went through a lot of changes. New Play Control probably had something to do with it as well.

Yup I played Pikmin 3 entirely with the Gamepad and it was an awesome experience watching the map and guiding my squad through there. Sometimes the immersion was so intense that I feel like I was the freaking commander guiding my team from the mothership haha.

If it is a NX title and the NX is a console and handheld, then I guess Motion controls are off the table. It would be amazing to play Pikmin in a handheld anyways.

TBH Pikmin 3 is the only game that I can't play without the gamepad, there's such a vital info in real time, than a pause screen wouldn't work, the "go here" feature is pretty useful in order to maximize your time.
