Miyamoto: Pikmin 4 in development, "very close to completion"

Everyone keeps saying they can't see this being on Wii U, but I feel the opposite. I feel like it's totally and undeniably a Wii U title.

I did not expect this at all, thank you based Miyamoto!

Just make the ground Pizza. Problem solved.

Amazed at how good that shot still looks. It kind of makes me want Pikmin 4 to lean a bit more to the Chibi-Robo side and make our little pikmin friends interact with more human locations. A backyard and human home. Not sure how you'd handle rockets in a kitchen or fridge, but I'm sure they could make it work if they wanted to.

I've always dreamt about a Pikmin x Chibi Robo crossover. For real.

Wii U would be my guess.

Straight sequel using the Pikmin 3 engine to fill out the 2016 line-up.

If Nintendo are going to have more Wii U games then sequels using existing engines seems the way to go.

Are they using this series to launder money? Surprised it keeps going strong, not like it matters, secret WiiU GOAT.

Reminds me of the way Pikmin 3 was casually confirmed at an E3 roundtable. I think in response to a question by Chris Remo, actually.

It's nice to hear that it's not just in development but also "close to complete" though. Not another five years of waiting after the initial confirmation!

So, Could be a NX launch title?, i know Pikmin is a niche game and it´s not a big deal in sells, but in my opinion is better than launching it for WII U.

Nintendo needs to go BIG and better for the NX Launch, if they don´t want another WII U Situation.

Can this mean we finally get a reprint of 3? I never got to play it and I REALLY don't want to chance on buying Nintendo digital unless it's Fatal Frame V.

Not getting hit with such a big upheaval in development strategies does have its advantages. Even if it's NX-bound, they're not in the position to be surprised again by those requirements.

Just say it flew through a window. That was one of the biggest draws of 2, even though the toy box dungeons and stuff weren't handled perfectly.

They probably won't go in that direction though because by Pikmin 3 the whole planet is seriously terraformed.

the internet is two months old and we only see it now?

anyway, if it's like pikmin 3, then we won't see it in a very long time

Seems like a poor way of announcing the game, but I'm excited nonetheless. I still haven't opened Pikmin 3 yet as I'm working through some other games.
They weren't announcing the game, it seems obvious to me Miyamoto wasn't supposed to spill the beans on it.

Does Pikmin sell? Like... more than a Metroid would? It seems extremely niche yet they still keep making them.

They've made one pikmin game in the last decade, so it's not really like they're pushing them out by the boatload.

Metroid tends to sell more, but also probably costs a lot more and doesn't have a existing wii u game to reuse assets and code from.

Yoooo!

Pikmin 3 was the first game I played on the Wii U. It remains being one of this gen's best and most underappreciated gems.

Maybe the NX Platform will have a decent number of launch titles after all. Though to be honest, I'm rather curious about how a Pikmin game would play on a handheld (mainly the NX Handheld, more so if it has dual screens).

Seems to me like this must be one of those cases where Nintendo's always got teams experimenting internally and the Pikmin guys just stumbled onto something that let them do a fourth game very quickly.

If I had to guess, this is probably a Super Mario Galaxy 2 sort of situation where it's going to feel like an extension of the previous game but with more refined level design and a few new mechanics. And then throw in Amiibo support, since Olimar's got one of those.
