If more than 50% of the people are rooting for the underdogs, doesn't that make them no longer be the underdogs?

Home field advantage: KC
Saber and Vegas: KC

Overall salary: SF
Recent WS experience: SF

I don't know, if anything I'd say SF are the underdogs here... either that or it's a tie.

SF were the underdogs in 2010 and 2012 but they still won the World Series. They are the underdogs this time as well which means they will win this time too!

There is no strict definition, but I'd say that since there were high expections for the Giants before the year and early in the year, and they have a higher payroll and recent success, and the Royals had low expectation, lower payroll, and hadn't even made the playoffs in a very long time, the Royals are clearly the underdogs in the most meaningful sense.

When people root for the underdogs, they aren't saying they check the odds in Vegas, then root against the team which is slightly favored.

In other words, the Giants are the villains now. Go villains!

Underdogs isn't in reference to the popularity of a team. It's a term that indicates one team is considered less talented or likely to win than the other.

There are tons of people like me who will root for the underdog as a neutral. My team happens to be playing now, but I would be rooting for the Royals in this Series if I was a fan of any team other than the Giants. That, combined with the recent Giants dominance in the playoffs, has a ton of people on the Royals bandwagon. At this point, if you are a complete neutral, I can't think of a single reason you would be rooting for a team that won recently over one that hasn't since 1985.

Wow what a fucking stadium so beautiful

I'm in San Fran once a year for some client meetings but it's always in the baseball offseason which pisses me off. I'm going to have to arrange it for during the baseball season one of these years.

I'll take that. Was hoping for a long fly ball so that works. Ump didn't fuck us too bad there. Would be nice to have had a walk but at least there's a run.

"That's what I like about the NL. It gives pitchers who are fucking up a back door to get lucky instead of actually pitching out of a jam."
