Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate release date trailer (March 19th)

Sven also encouraged people to pre-order the game, so if you are interested, you know what do.

MON HUN 4 LIFE

going to preorder tomorrow... cant wait, am hyped.

Quick question for wiiu owners, does it upscale the wii games to HD? as in do I get better IQ if i play tri on WiiU? 480p kills my eyes

I planned to buy a WiiU just for this game anyway...

Gunlance for solo, and I'll finally try hunting horn for multi (was gunner in tri, so much fun !)

Playing with GAF will be so great.

Does someone come...?

Can't wait to preo-

Oh wait, getting both versions from the eShop. No need to preorder! :D

Item spots on the field are now signaled by a ? appearing on the screen. In the older games, you had to just press O (PSP/PS2 button) everywhere to find them.

The older games are notorious for bad hitboxes on certain monsters, those have been corrected, and the hitboxes are better in general.

All the weapons are a lot more versatile than they were before. They feel better.

Certain monsters act more "alive", whereas in previous games they moved fairly... robotic? Look at Gen 1/2 Rathalos or Rathian and compare to Gen 3 (this game) counterparts.

Black Devil Blos huh

Wonder if One-Eared Garuga will make an appearance. Fighting him for the first time in G-Rank was such a horrible experience... in Old Jungle no less.

My old archenemy. I wonder if they will bring back the Devil Diablos to show all the newbies the terror of SANIC RAGE

God I hate the Diablos... I hate everything about him and he isn't even hard to beat.

I cleared that quest just 2 days ago... Yea he was just annoying though it was in Forest and Hills in MHFU.

I've never played a MH game, so would this be the best one to start with?

Well, if you have a Wii U or plan on getting one, then you may as well get MH3UHD.The online community will be brand new and it has more to offer than Wii's MH Tri did in terms of content, improved visuals, and more convenient forms of multiplayer chat too. There's little reason to pick up MH Tri now even though it is cheap, but the online multiplayer mode is going to be permanently shut down on April 30th so you'll be missing out on most of the game's content.

Oh.
More palette swap filler? With a cple of constant parameters in the AI routine messed with so that it feels (oh so) different?
Bring it on I guess...

I actually eat this shit up ;_;

Been 2 years since I played, yeah I think it was on F&H. Old Jungle had its own annoying fight in G-Rank
dual fucking plessies

there's emerald-king-of-farting congalala too on that map and you had to fight him where you couldnt see anything in front of you. God I hate the old maps.

note: This is not the entire list. Capcom is apparently still going to do more updates for localized names of other monsters.

Hmm, I actually wanted a bigger list. :/
I think someone already took Peco...

But that's not Qurupeco! It's a Crimson Qurupeco, it's veeeery different. :P

Well, if you can't create an avatar with it, make one with the best remaining monster. The choice is yours. :P

Sooooo... I just bought a 3DS XL on Wednesday. This is the first time I've ever seen anything related to Monster Hunter at all.

Holy. Shit.

Bought on site first day pre-ordered bonanza extravaganza.
---------

I noticed it's for WiiU too. I don't plan on buying one of those. Has a Monster Hunter ever been released on a handheld before? If so, any good?

The series is predominantly a handheld series. 1 and 2 were PSP games. 3 was Wii, then there was the Japan only "Portable 3rd" for PSP and PS3.

1 and 2 were ps2. Freedom, Freedom 2 and Freedom Unite were on psp. I really really really wish this series stayed consoles.

Is it worth checking out on Wii? I've got one that's collecting dust and if it's cool I'll buy it immediately, if it's not hard to find or anything.

Yes. In fact, that's where it found it's immense popularity. After the series moved to handheld it started selling like crazy in Japan and reached the stage it did today.

If you have a PSP or Vita you can check out MH Freedom Unite if you want, but this new game is a much better starting point.

I think this was posted before but...

There are no hardware bundles that will happen for North America unfortunately.

It's our first eShop release so we're being careful with messaging around timing because we have no experience with the process. All I'm willing to say is that for North/South America, we will try to be as close to the launch day as possible, it is possible we will be there on launch day, but we are not willing to say definitively that that will be the case because there are parts of that process that are not directly within our hands.

I don't have either a PSP or a Vita but thank you for answering. I've got a Wii if the one available on that is worth playing though. Considering I just heard about 320 minutes ago I'm going to do some research on everything related to this series.

Well, you can try the Wii game if you want. However this is that game with more than double the content.

Personally, I'd wait it out and pick this one up.

Ohhh, I see. Yeah, I'll definitely be waiting then. Thank you again. Just from the look of it, it seems to play similar to a Legend of Zelda game with more RPG elements... is that accurate?

As mentioned before, Capcom is shutting down MH3 (Wii) servers in April, don't waste your money.

Eh... maybe, there's no Z-Lock though.

Hmmm, not quite sure how to answer...there are similar elements but Monster Hunter is its own kind of game IMHO, I mean it pretty much started the 4 player quest/hunt games Japan keeps trying to copy. Can't really write a detail explanation of the differences.

I believe playing is more easier to understand the differences, have you got a 3DS or Wii U? There will be a demo at Feb 21st, be sure to try it out, then.

It's an action game. RPG elements are limited to equipment and skills granted by that equipment. Your character doesn't level up, though.

You accept quests/hunts, and go out the area to complete the objective (usually kill a large monster or capture it).

The gameplay. It's a methodical... well, tactical I guess, action game. You can't go up and just slash at the monsters to win. That's the quickest way to lose and I imagine a large reason why many don't follow through with the game. You have to watch your target and look for openings, and then think about how to the best of your abilities and equipment to capitalize on that opening.

It's an incredibly deep and VERY rewarding game. Each kill feels like an accomplishment, and it gives you a sense of that like no other game can.
