Oh fuck yes Sweet Tooth would be amazing. Also he actually makes sense. While Sony has plenty of violent franchises, only a few are on par with Mortal Kombat. It's not Kratos, so Sweets is the obvious next choice.

Read up on MK9 and the whole exclusive character thing. They wanted an Xbox character but Microsoft wasn't the easiest to talk to and they ran out of time.

I actually like the idea as long as the guest character is 1st party. Not kratos again though, mix it up. Delsin from Second son, sweet tooth, etc. And for Xbox it's a lot easier since they already have a pretty popular 1st party fighting game

Actually, now I realize my mistake. I remember reading that "orders came from above" to not have an MS character, so I assumed Sony bought them out. I'd have to read up on it, but they could add some third party character, really. Anyway, I'll check into that before further comments.

I still thing a Sony only extra character was a bad idea if they didn't want to show any prefence, but I wasn't there so I can't say.

They have the rights to the 300 series, and there was a new movie this year. Leonidas or Xerxes would be brutal and violent enough to fit right in to the MK universe... though the whole "actual historical figures" thing might be kind of odd.

They also own the Mad Max franchise (new movie next year); Jupiter Ascending is coming out in 2015 and I can see there being a huge marketing push for that movie.
