Most overpowered Multiplayer weapon?

Why Hidden Path? IIRC the tec9 was fine for years before the update that had a decimal point error and made it a laser gun and extremely OP. It wasn't overused at all and whenever I would get one people would be surprised. In fact it was one of those guns people considered not worth buying but was actually decent.

First problem was most people didn't pay attention to the fact that it ignores head armor at close range. Hugely important. Second fact, and the sadder of the pair, is that nearly every pistol in CSGO was broken before they got to that particular bug you referenced (which was solved rather quickly). The deagle dealt scout damage without the need for a scope for a couple of weeks, the p250 had its time in the sun, and most importantly, the cz-75 was the de facto pistol on eco before the nerfs to its switch and movement speed.

It can fix armored vehicles at an alarming rate.

It can destroy armored vehicles at an alarming rate.

It can burn enemies at an alarming rate.

It has a friend known as Mr. Knife who can cut through HUGE chain-linked fences in a single swipe.

It's hardly the most popular game, and it's easily the least popular mode but ninja gaiden 3 and razors edge have an oft forgotten competive multiplayer component.

And in razors edge they introduced the Scythe
Ninja-Gaiden-3-Razor%E2%80%99s-Edge-Review-4.jpg

Which has an incredibly overpowered 360 attack that can be spammed endlessly providing you get the timing right, and the move comes with a tone of I-frames making skilled players borderline invisible when doing so. Here's some single player footage of it in use
http://youtu.be/fWFIhsoHeSE

So of course once this exploit was discovered tons of people spammed it online, which in turn made it bascily impossible to defeat anyone using it, unless you too are relentlessly spamming it. FUN!

Probably wouldn't have been to bad if it wasn't for that God awful sound. "HRAHHH!"

TIL There was a multiplayer Ninja Gaiden.

No mentions of the 1.6 riot shield yet? That item was tacitly banned by the community because if one person busted out the riot shield, the whole server would respond in kind and nobody wanted that. It was essentially mutually assured destruction.

Pre patch M 60 in Battlefield: Vietnam is the most ridiculous thing I´ve seen in my life! 100 rounds per magazine and you could headshot targets 2kms away with going full auto hipfire while jumping.

Everyone and I mean everyone was running around with it. The US team usually outmanned the Vietcong side by at least 2:1 and if you were unlucky or masochistic enough to join on the VC side and got a lucky kill you usually picked up the M60 kit from the dead guy.

Oh, and it was also the anti tank class as bonus.

this...so much this.

nothing ever came close. like haunted tank said, it often totally broke the matches. somebody fittingly named it "sniping minigun".

Queen mode in AvP2. Was a killstreak reward, as I recall. Fucking horrifying for the other team. The whole race was balanced around the possibility of a queen wrecking everything.

Every time I see somebody name a Pyro weapon, part of me dies inside. It's like that time where pub players whined about the Axtinguisher even though the Powerjack was by and far the most used melee in higher levels of play, so they nerfed it and now Powerjack is used exclusively.

I've come to grips with the fact that, contrary to their stated desires, nobody wants Pyro to be useful for anything but guarding Engineers (the Reserve Shooter is banned in UGC for fuck's sake), but people need to at least complain about the right weapons. Degreaser is universally regarded as the best flamethrower. Backburner is useful in only a fraction of situations.

pls

I would have put the Pyro if I could.

Just does far too much damage without the semblance of much skill.

Glad to see the Redeemer got a mention, it could be quite easy to counter though if you were a good shot with the sniper rifle

You can snipe with it by firing one bullet at a time quite quickly if you have good control (I did), great stopping power and ROF from full auto meant very easy downs. No hate here though, didn't mind being killed by it or using it myself.

Some of my favorite "over powered weapons" are those that are overpowered, but balanced in their being rare, end game, or being hard to use. Though, their raw damage amounts and wepon characteristics are crazy powerful.

The HMG from NS1 is insanely powerful, has a massive magazine, ridiculous rate of fire, etc... but it only comes out in lategame matches. That and a number of characteristics about how the game plays makes it "balanced" while being "overpowered".

All these pictures that don't mention the game its from.

Come on, it's not that hard and not everyone recognizes every multiplayer shooter in existence.

Splatoon. The dynamo roller and the aerospray, the charger is shit but ive seen people killing a lot with them so thats also OP.
/s nearly all the weapons have a clear advantage and disadvantage

It's not overpowered per se, but my vote also goes to the Quake Railguns. Fighting a skilled opponent that uses this weapon class was utterly demoralising.

Battlefield 3 pre patch Famas

Battlefield 3 pre patch under-slung Shotgun

Famas was a 0 recoil lazer beam of death. Everyone who had it unlocked used it

Under-slung Shotgun (M26 MASS) was bugged for like 3 months. It shot 9? pellets and each one did something like 200 damage, even at max range (300m)

You could kill snipers with ease. It was amazing and I abused the shit out of it

Heres a pic. 3800 kills and almost 95% accuracy. Good times

The Barman Shanker

Before weapon speed normalization this would just about one shot average geared cloth wearers in WoW PvP. It was stronger than most raid daggers for a while.

Haha and the best part about it was you could solo the instance\enemy that dropped it by sneaking in as a rogue and killing very few enemies. I used that weapon for quite awhile.

The FarSight rifle is a Maian hybrid of an X-Ray scanning device coupled with a rifle that can shoot through solid objects. The scope can lock onto and track life sources, though the device does not pan as fast as a running enemy can move.

Pyro has one of the worst primaries in the game, slightly above-average health, average running speed, and no special mobility (unless you equip the otherwise useless Detonator). The reason everybody carries the Degreaser is because actually flaming people does so little damage that the only way to be viable in combat is to rely on combos.

Regardless, the concept of the Backburner or all weapons being OP is absurd. You'd might as well name the Loose Cannon or some other useless weapon that can occasionally deal massive damage should the poor sap carrying it get lucky.

Gnasher shotgun in Gears. Made a mockery of long range engagements with shots traded back and forth. Why bother poking in and out of cover when you could just gnasher someone to the face. Even if someone had a power weapon, the gun could rip them to shreds in an instant at the proper range. Made the machine gun almost completely pointless.

Literally shaped how the game was to be played. My vote goes here.

What a dman fine shape it was.

Fair enough, I haven't played that much lately to see how it is, I just remember the decimal point bug and then the subsequent nerf. Honestly I was really happy with where the pistols were before the CZ. There was a good range of them to pick from, with the p250 being the best value. But the 57 and tec9 were still good, I especially liked the tec9 close range pushing corners.

I don't think deliberate superweapons like the Redeemer or BFGs should count, they're designed to be hard to get and highly contested plus usually very ammo-limited.

How dare you. The gnasher was gears, gears was the gnasher. Cover was very important to the gnasher play.

If someone was decent with the torque bow, or you had a boomshot, you wouldn't worry about a guy with a gnasher.

My vote, definitely goes to the GoW3 sawn-off:

Might you be the guy in the tank I killed last night with one while it was ziging and zagging and firing at me with 2 other tanks around trying to shoot me as well.
