My thrice removed anonymous source says that it's impossible to produce PS3!

of course Element will say that the Xbox360 is a model of how a launch should be handled.
final kits available just before launch, games that don't meet the supposed minimum specs, no AA which is supposed to be a given on the system, blurry textures are us. etc.

if the PS3 is rushed the Xbox360 was panicked.

I don't buy the idea of further delays. Weren't we here with PS2? Devs are used to not having much lead time to develop launch titles. Punters are used to buying rushed launch titles.

PS3 seems to have had dev units for longer than PS2 had, so the situation for software should be better than either PS2 or PSone. And if CELL is already looking to move to 65nm, surely that isn't an issue?

I just don't see any reason for Sony to delay to June07! And if they really don't plan to produce 6m units by the end of this fiscal year, then they really shouldn't make those statements in public

IIRC, Sony intended to *launch* the Cell PS3 on a 65-NM process.

Monorojo, I *might* be inclined to agree with were it not for one thing- Bluray.

Sony needs relatively low-priced BR players in people's homes, in numbers, as soon as possible to combat $500 HD-DVD players.

How many Xbox games have been sold to date? Sony claims >1bn PS2 software units have been sold to date on a 101m userbase. Nintendo claims 184m software units on a 20m userbase, so compared to it at least, the software market is in proportion with the hardware base (in fact, slightly bigger, per unit).

IIRC, the 1b software units were shipped numbers... but yeah, that number is what they're using.

Yes because Nintendo's manufacturing capabilities are on par with Sony's

Well Since you're going on and on about having sources, perhaps I'd like to see your source which compares Sony's gaming division's production abilities to Nintendo's.

After all we all know Sony never has hardware shortages and Nintendo gets them all the time...
