N-GAF Eve Online Corp Part Deux

Just a heads up I'm planning to move our HQ to Medion, a place with 1.0 sec status. If the rent is super high, which I expect I may have to raise the corp's tax rate.

Also some members have brought up the possibility of joining an alliance. I'm open to the idea, but i want to every member of the corp to at least know about that. All questions and suggestions are welcome.

From what little knowledge I have of the game, I would suggest the TEST alliance, home of Dreddit (the reddit corp).

Other than that, I'm not sure as I hardly have a comprehensive view of the game, let alone the politics.

Ok, bought the game off an old trial acct from 2008 and am ready for my first eve online experience! Wish me luck! Sending a corp request too!

How high is the rent, and how does it compare to that of the current place?

Hey, by chance could you give us some rolls and access to stuff in the Corp?

Looking at the possible assigned positions and such, it looks like it would be possible to set up stuff like a single hanger in the HQ we could all take and place stuff in for example. Also looks like multiple corporation hangers can be set up in a single base, since there is stuff like "Hanger Take [2]" and such.

Would there be anything that would allow me to produce a bunch of Ammo on behalf of the Corporation?

My character is a miner/electronic warfare/missile specialist and I was working on drones ( was my trial character) I was thinking about adding ice mining but is there something more useful/profitable for the corp ?

Glad we are getting out of the system we are, I can see now that it is swarming with outlaws. Lost my cargo ship and a shuttle, along with a ship I had on board the cargo ship. In fact, I am now worried I won't be able to get my stuff out.

New player (played a short but fun trial in '05), gallente -- I have a cruiser, currently focusing on leveling up my core skills. If anyone needs help with Sisters of Eve Epic arc (or wouldn't mind giving me one!), let me know!

Wait... you're a new player, but you have a cruiser?

Wish I had started long ago and just learned skills.

The rent in Medion is 3 million isk a month to our current 10 thousand k. I got a suggestion from The Shift to move our HQ to Dodixie? I'm going to check that place out today. We may move there instead.

It's a good location IIRC, not too far from low sec and 0 sec space which can be handy.

It's patch day tomorrow so remember to set a long skill/queue as it could be down for a while.

I might have to get back into EVE again sometime soon. It's been a long time and my old character no longer exists, but it might be nice to start over and work with new folks. Oh well. Here's hoping you guys can keep the corp going till I get back.

I've gotten to a Cruiser before on a trial account. It was a Caldari missile cruiser. Forgot the name of it.

Pretty sure they don't delete characters ever.

OK I activated my accounts and will send out a corp request tonight.

Two accounts - EVE is an awesome dual monitor game.

Father Void - Industrial char
Inquisitor Void - all Combat bout about 10mm SP.

gonna plant some planet bases and see if they become DUST combat zones in the months to come.

Due to complaints about the low sec space that our last HQ was in, I moved our HQ to Eglennaert. Moon 17. Rent is 162,614 ISK a month. Due to the increase in rent we also had to raise taxes. The tax rate now is 5% Any money you make in EVE, whether through mining, missions, bounty, contracts, whatever is taxed. I hope to lower taxes in the future, when our corp wallet is bigger.

Also we need to talk about corp roles. If you don't know what they are, here is a basic description

Corporation Roles

Roles are used in EVE to delegate access to various Corporation functionalities. There are two main types of Roles available: Normal and Grantable. A Normal role such as Accountant gives a member the right to perform various accounting related actions for the Corporation. However, if a member is given the Grantable Role of Accountant, he or she also has the ability to give and take the Role of Accountant from other members of the Corporation. Grantable Roles are assigned by the CEO and should be given only to those who have proven themselves trustworthy.

These are the general Roles currently available:

Accountant

Accountants can monitor and manage the financial affairs of the Corporation. They can view Corporation bills in the Neocom Bills Panel. From there, they can pay the Corporation's bills (with Corporation money, of course) and see who owes money to the Corporation. Accountants can also purchase and sell items for the Corporation. Items can be sold from the Corporation hangar. Items bought are placed in the Deliveries window at the station where they are purchased, and only an Accountant can remove these items.
Auditor

The Auditor Role allows the holder to check the Role history of members of the Corporation.
Equipment Config

This Role allows the holder to anchor, unanchor, rename, and configure various types of objects in space.
Config Starbase Equipment

This Role allows the holder to perform Starbase configuration.
Director

A director is, for the most intents and purposes, the same as a CEO. Directors can hire and fire members and change job descriptions (assigning and un-assigning roles, grantable roles, bases and titles). Directors are the next best thing to CEOs, allowing a corporation to function with members based in different time zones around the world. It is probably wise for a large Corporation to have exclusive and trusted members with this role spanning over varied time zones, allowing the Corporation to be constantly manageable. This should allow Corporations with international memberships to be effective in terms of management, and able to respond to situations effectively as they occur. It is very important to remember that the role of Director gives the holder all implied roles and grantable roles. To put this simply, if you make someone a Director, you have effectively given him or her every role and grantable role (except Director), and that person will have full access to all Corporation resources and assets at all locations.
Factory Manager

The role of Factory Manager allows the holder to create jobs in the factory and research slots that have been rented by the Corporation. Holders of such jobs use blueprints and materials from the Corporation hangar. They can also cancel jobs for the Corporation as well. Factory Managers can also eject blueprints from Corporation-owned factories and research slots. Additionally, they can see what is going on in any corporate factory and research slot.
Junior Accountant

The Junior Accountant is a lesser version of the Accountant role. It essentially allows the holder to view the data that an Accountant views. However, it does not allow the holder to perform the actions that an Accountant can.
Personnel Manager

A Personnel Manager can process applications and sign up new members.
Rent Factory

This role allows the holder to rent factory slots for the Corporation.
Rent Office

The role of Rent Office allows the holder to rent offices for the Corporation.
Rent Research Facility

This role allows the holder to rent research facilities for the Corporation.
Security Officer

The role of Security Officer allows the holder to view the contents of the deliveries window in station. This is the window where items bought by the Corporation at a station are placed. If the Corporation has a corporate hangar at a station, the role of Security Officer grants access to the contents of the corporation hangars. This access also facilitates the placing of items into the members' hangars.
Station Manager

As the name implies, Station Managers can perform station management tasks for Corporation-owned facilities. These tasks are varied and include adjusting the standing-based modifiers for allowing docking and the charges for it, as well as permission to access factories, the reprocessing plant, and the repair shop. The Station Manager also determines how modifiers should be applied for costs based upon standings for these tasks. In addition, he or she is also able to set up station defenses.
Bases and Locational Roles

If you have taken a look at the Role Management tools you may have noticed that it is possible to assign various types of roles to Corporation members at their Base, the Corporation's headquarters, or at other Locations. In order for Locational roles to be used to the full, it is a good idea to assign members to a Base. A Base is essentially a station where the Corporation has an office. When a member has a Base, you can assign the member hangar access roles based at that location. For members that you really trust, you might want to consider giving them hangar access roles at the headquarters of the Corporation. If your Corporation has many offices, you might want to consider giving members that use many different offices hangar access roles at "other" locations. Locational roles are applied based upon the Location of members; if they are located at HQ then they will only have the Location roles assigned to them at HQ. If they are at their Base, they will have the Locational Roles assigned to them "at base." Lastly, if they are anywhere else, they will have the Locational Roles assigned to them as being "at other." Of course, the normal roles of the player, such as Security Officer, Accountant, and Factory Manager, etc., are active without regard to the Location of the Corporation member.

Locational Roles allow members to view and access items from the divisional folders within Corporation hangars. There are also Container Can Take roles, for all divisions, which allow a member to remove containers; without this role, it is not possible to remove containers from the hangar.

For the Corporate Hangar Array, which is essentially a corporation hangar in space the "roles at other" determine the access for the Corporation member.

Jeez, I'm not typing all that. If your interested in a role, bump the thread or send me a PM and we will work something out.

I would like to at least be a Junior Accountant, and I think you should make one hanger that at the Corp HQ everyone has access to use.

wow, this game is crazy in depth looking at those corp roles!
I am wondering if i should even bother with my 3 year old trial character. May have to create a new one tomorrow to experience it all new again!

I would highly recommend not taking or giving a role within the corp until you are ready. If you're new, concentrate on flying and learning. Corp management is EVE advanced.

It's more important to just be active and helpful.

Unless you have a few million SP already then just make a new character and get a Buddy Account, person who invites sells the PLEX when you sub. and splits the cash.

If you PM me your email I can send you a Buddy Trial.

I'm pretty tied to my current corp (where in wormhole space and I don't really want to leave...) But I've had a chat channel 'Neogaf' open forever hoping peeps would join. Can't join the corp but i'd be happy to play with you guys. maybe we could end up in the same alliance too, that'd be fun. I'm Vermiscious in game.

Once this update rolls out, I'll start getting into the game. Currently I'm just sitting in the newbie station with a decked out punisher training skills and going for certificates - Don't have the slightest clue about the game >.>

I'm having lots of fun just doing the career agent missions. I feel so far behind you guys though! I'm definitely learning through these missions though. You have to or else you can't do squat. Trial and error right now but I'm catching on and I'm really excited to see what comes out of it in the future.

However, I can't fathom paying a monthly fee for an MMO (something I swore I'd never do, because of the negative connotation associated with World of Warcraft in my and my friend group's eyes), but EVE is seriously tempting me once I run out of trial time.

I don't suppose they've added an option for bigger text at all? I'm tempted to start playing again but I'd have to start over I think. Wasn't very far originally anyway.

-SSAO is disabled on all video cards except NVIDIA cards.
- ILR is disabled on Windows XP machines that use ATI GPU’s.
-Depth effects on Macs with ATI cards are disabled.

They don't like ATi? :(

Turns out I lost a bit more than I thought when that pirate blew up our ships. I was still carrying some skillbooks I intended to drop off at a station but forgot and so my big loss was a Hacking skillbook, worth as much as the ship itself (700k, WTF?) The upside is that I can just create a new character and grab one again free from the tutorials.

One of us must of open fired on him first, since we didn't get a kill right. Or did someone do the dumb thing of taking the stuff from the Yellow Cargo Container, giving them the right to kill us for stealing?

I was tweaking the options yesterday and I did change the text a little bit. I increased the space between the letters and also changed the interface to black. It's so much better now and somehow the text looks bigger.

The hacking skillbook? I think I have that one. I'm not planning on learning any hacking at the moment. I can give it to you for free if you want it.

Thanks, I guess that was in-game? Couldn't see anything in the main menu.

The menu that pops up when you hit ESC. I can't remember the exact tab at the moment but it was in there.

Wait, what? Pirates blew up a bunch of our ships as we were moving shit from our previous HQ to the new one?
No, 4 of us were just doing a sisters of eve missions together, we finished up the mission and were just collecting the scraps. Some guy comes into the space, a bit annoying but ok, isn't attacking anyone at the moment. Before I know it, combat break outs, all guns trying to take him down, but he was piloting some Tech 2 ship. One of our ships goes down, so I tried to get out, but my ship got jammed and also taken out, and a third person lost their ship, which had some skill books on board. The last guy managed to get the guy attacking to go away, but sadly didn't think at the time to grab the cargo from our ships. I tried to go back to recover the stuff, but people belonging to the corp that blew us up got to it first, so I just left.

Pirates could of also done that, but I heard nothing of the sorts.

Do we have the name of the pilot?
